Really cool concept. I liked the sfx and the art for the transitions was cool. I’m not as much a fan of chance games, but it was still pretty interesting. I think if I were to improve this, I’d make enemy types that have ‘tendencies’ and do more than one type in a fight, like the old megaman Battle network games

Thank you very much for the coment! I get what you say, and I agree, it would be better if the enemies where more diferent from one another. I'm pretty bad at coding IA but I try'ed to make that the first one it's more equilibrate, the second one doesn't charge their attack's much, trying to reset your charges and the last one charges many more times, trying to defeat you sooner

Cool game. Haven't played much of these types of games, and like others, it took me a little to understand the mechanics. But it was cool and enjoyable! The constant duality was clear to me, but the use of the big theme was harder to realize. Good job overall!

Developer

Thanks for playing my game, it makes me happy that you find it enjoyable! My idea with the main thema was that once you beat the best fighters, you would become the biggest fighter, but as with the mecanics, I failed to set that clearly :((

This was a fun game.

As others have said it took me a little while to understand the mechanics but once I did it felt like a bit like  gambling and it was more interesting.

One thing I think would help improve the experience would be to have some way to effect the probability of the different movements. This would open up strategic depth and give the player more agency. You could spend power to block a movement slot for a few turns or build up power to attack two slots at once. Some more options like this IMO would help.

Developer

This is a really good idea, will look forward to implement it once I start working on the game after the jam. And definitely would try to make the gameplay more clear! Thanks for playing and I'm really glad that you find the game fun!!

hey!! just played this and i really liked the tactical approach to a boxing match. it feels like a high-stakes game of rock-paper-scissors where reading the opponent is everything. the skeleton art is very cool and gives the game a unique personality!!

it took me a moment to wrap my head around the mechanics since the tutorial wasnt working, but once i understood the risk of losing the charge when getting hit, the game became much more tense and interesting. i really liked the "big damage" payoff when a strategy actually works out !!

the sound feedback helps a lot during the fight too. for a jam project, the core concept is very solid and it’s a very creative way to interpret the theme and duality. great job on the entry and on the hand-drawn style!!

congrats on the submission!!

Thank you so much for the kind words!! I'm very glad you enjoyed the game and found it fun, even if the controls weren't very clear! :DD

do you plan to update it post jam? i would love to play it again with more enemies! sure more people would love it too!!!

Developer(+1)

Definitely will! Once the jam is over, I’m jumping back into it right away. I’d love to change the interface and add some of the features I had to cut due to time constraints, like equippable items that change how combat feels and new enemies. Thanks so much for the support!

Submitted(+1)

that sounds amazing!! equippables would definitely add a lot of depth to the strategy, and a new ui will really make everything shine even more. i am definitely keeping an eye out for those updates post-jam. keep up the great work, you have a very solid concept in your hands!!

I like that there’s some strategy involved instead of just hitting. The characters are great. The interface could be improved a bit, Good game!

Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback! :D

It took me a second to understand it, but overall its quite a fun game.

Developer

Many thanks. Yeah, now I´m realising that didn´t connect the tutorial neither, so it ended up being hard to understand, I appreciate the feedback

The concept of this game, though not immediately clear to me at least (the tutorial doesn't seem to function), is cool! It incorporates the prerequisite excellently as you choose between charging, attacking or healing. Though the main theme is not very present I feel like.

The sound of getting damaged however is very big, it's quite loud haha. I initially thought charge meant charging toward the enemy, but it means charging up to do more damage, which wasn't clear at first. The tutorial would be very useful to have, though an indicator on how much damage you'll deal by attacking, with text such as "Damage x Charge", could solve this without the need for a tutorial.

The art style is cute, though it is a bit mismatched with the UI, some more cohesion would make this game feel more polished, as would some more juice and feedback. Overally I'd say the idea behind the game is entertaining, it's like a chess game but you're boxing, but the execution leaves some things to be desired. Sweet concept though.

Thank you very much for the amazing feedback, and I'm glad that you find it an interesting concep. My idea was to state that you will become the biggest fighter but ended just saying that you turn the better, so you right, it's not clear.
