Description
DEEP is about a girl who comes to a seaside town searching for her sister, who has gone missing. The game is a cozy game in a similar vein to Stardew Valley, but with a lonely and wistful undertone. Your character would interact with the townsfolk, gradually building a sense of community and support, but also slowly uncovering the town's deeper mysteries.

Sibling Song – The de facto main theme of the game, the memory of your sister manifested as music
The Docks – Town traversal music. The exact soundtrack changes based on the location time of day. (This was originally inspired by the word “night” in the text theme.)
Bait and Tackle – Fishing minigame music.
Siblings Reunited – The close of your adventure.

This soundtrack was primarily produced using Sibelius and Logic Pro X.

Message from the artist
Thank you so much for hosting this jam!!!

Theme

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I responded most immediately to the mix of loneliness and coziness I got from the image and I wanted to write a soundtrack that would capture that. Sibling Song was born from there, but the first thing I actually wrote was Bait and Tackle. I knew from the start I wanted an intimate sound, which led to the piano and strings instrumentation. The clarinet and accordion felt like natural seaside instruments to me because . . . you know, I don’t actually know why. While I didn’t respond the text theme directly, the word “night” inspired the day/night cycle of The Docks.

"Sibling Song" is gorgeous, really lovely instrumentation here. The staccato strings in "The Docks" give that feeling of a busy city area. Switching to pizzicato strings and a mallet lead does a great job of transferring things to that nighttime vibe. Bonus points for including the time-honored fishing minigame theme. Nice work there.

Overall, your soundtrack has a very soft yet vibrant feel to the orchestration, reminiscent of a Studio Ghibli work (Nino Kuni definitely comes to mind) or Dragon Quest. Everything is very subtly emphasized, no instrument ever feels overstated or out of place. There's a very smooth and clean sound that is masterfully done. My only critique would be overall volume, it does feel a touch low. I realize that could be a bit of a challenge though with the lower velocities you were bringing out in the instruments. Regardless, excellent work overall!

You did a fantastic job capturing the coziness and melancholy that you described, perfect for a summer night. The orchestration, i.e. the melodica and the bells, really sell the mix of cozy nostalgia and grief-stricken mourning. and the ending. In the ending, you managed to capture such a wide range of emotions in such a short amount of time. The pure joy or reunion. the conflicting feelings of sadness and confusion, all ending on a quiet sigh of peace. Great work!

Great soundtrack! Particularly, The Docks was whimsical and brilliant, while maintaining simplicity. Awesome job! :)

What a lovely little collection of songs. I got somewhat reminded of some French compositions for film, that just lets your hear melt away, like Ernest et Celestine. Really liked the idea of The Docks and having the song change style with the time. All in all this was a joy to listen to.

Fishing Minigame song is so unbelievably required I'm kind of upset I didn't put one in my entry even if it would have ruined the pacing of my entry.

I love fishing in games.

I really enjoyed the brass melody in The Docks. It was charming like a little port town which was fun!

Sibling Song: Ooh this is beautiful. Love the accordion inclusion.

The Docks: This nails the town vibe. Nice and quaint, love the woodwind lines. Very lighthearted feel that I really appreciate.

Bait and Tackle: ooh this is great writing. Love the piano.

Siblings Reunited: This reminds me of BOTW. Great work with the dynamics.

Great work!

Thank you for listening! I haven’t played BOTW or TOTK but I love the soundtracks.

Sound absolutely Beautiful!!! I love the vibe made here and it's all really professional and well done all I could ask for would be to use the scritch editor: https://torcado.itch.io/scritch-editor to make the music play in the browser for easier viewing, but other than that this is fantastic! good stuff!

There’s a SoundClod link on the main page and in the streaming link field if that’s easier for you.

It’s all good! Thank you so much for listening!

Man there's something with this leitmotiv you used both in sibling song and sibling reunited, it's really one of my favorites tune so far! Great job !

I like the cozy setting this soundtrack has. The composition and the instruments used are very well done. I would see no problem this being in a stardew valley like game.

Absolutely beautiful collection of music! Perhaps this speaks to my own inexperience, but I couldn't believe this wasn't live recorded haha great job!

Thank you so much! A lot of the sounds are either free or stock Logic Pro sounds if you can believe it. I use a stupid roudabout workflow to put them all together, so I’m glad it spoke to you!

Submitted

Hard to say it's stupid if it managed to be this successful haha give yourself some credit!

I can hear a Chocobo sneaking its beak in "The Docks", haha.

Such a lovely blend of summer themed instruments and the dialogue between the accordeon, the slightly muted piano and the clarinet perfectly convey the vibe you're going for, both innocent and pure.

Great job! You can really feel that mix of something cozy but also a bit lonely. I really liked "Bait and Tackle", but honestly, all of them are really good and each one conveys something different. The orchestration was great aswell!

Hey, thanks so much for listening! Bait and Tackle is one of my favorites, too :)

I really felt that I could play Stardew Valley with this in the background and it would fit.

Just flat out an awesome job!
