Really fun game. It's satisfying to upgrade the coaster to get further in the game.

This is a wonderful love letter to flash games. It borrows some iconic features (artstyle, SFX, upgrade system) and turns them into something unique and creative.

I love the sprawling layout of the rollercoaster with new sections to incrementally discover. Requiring me to reach certain areas to unlock upgrades is a clever idea. I wish there was a way to view the coaster as a whole, or at least view sections I've visited.

This game feels cohesive and super satisfying to play

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it so much! We took a lot of inspiration from old flash games like Learn to Fly with things like the upgrade system and I'm glad that it came through in the final product! A way to look around the whole coaster would be a very cool feature to add! Thanks for the idea!

Bro why is it so slow, like I can’t make it go faster or what should I do because it really looks like a great game. I love the artwork. Good job anyway!

Developer

Is it laggy in your web browser? You may need to enable graphics acceleration in your browser, I think most godot games (and probably some other engines) will be laggy without it. If the rollercoaster itself is slow, you will need to start by going down and grabbing the first upgrade item and buying it in the shop, then you will be able to get over the first jump.

Submitted

It is not laggy but I think I just don’t understand how it works. I will try it again later.

Super cool game! Speed feels speed-y, music is a bop and you really want to discover everything there is.

Some of the signs I could never read because I was always too fast. And I think there was a bug where ArrowDown was often not recognized for combos. Had a ton of fun nontheless. Rated!

Developer

Yep, someone deleted a line of code on accident lol. Agree on the signs as well, they don't work when the player is forced to move, I think some pop up text would work better.

Thanks for playing!

Oh the speed. So satisfying, and there's so much to it, to find new paths and new upgrades. That's a really cool concept and I'm coming back to play more later. Very well done.

Curiosity: Is that a remake of a game that was already around in the past? I couldn't find it.

Developer

Glad you liked it, we're thinking of updating it after the jam sometime.

The game we took inspiration from was Learn to Fly, an old flash game about a penguin, mostly on the upgrade system. We were leaning heavily into a retro flash/nitrome vibe so I'm glad if that came through!

Extremely creative, the music is great and the game was really fun overall!

Really fun, super nostalgic, just a delightful time all around. The tricky part with this is navigating to find all the things you need - once you find the canister, it unlocks so much, but it can be quite tricky to find when it takes so long to explore all the paths available and you're going so fast it's hard to see what you might miss. I still had an absolute blast playing this, and when it clicked it clicked.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! Yea we are brainstorming some ways to better signpost the branching paths because it wasn't always super clear and it seemed like it was sometimes more frustrating than rewarding.

Thanks for playing!

This was super creative! A lot of fun learning the tricks and I even went so fast I kinda broke it lol

Developer

Yep lol fully upgraded nitro can break the game sometimes.

Thanks for playing!

So fast!

Im a big fan of the very strong momentum-based movement going on here, and im glad someone did "super-extreme rollercoaster" as a concept, i dont know if i like the incremental game stuff with this kinda skill-based gameplay, even though its a very good match with the artstyle and vibes.

Developer

Thanks for kind words! How best to do progression is something we struggled a bit with and ultimately there is a lot we would have added if there was some more time. I'm glad you enjoyed the feeling of momentum as that's something we felt was super important to capture!

Really Cool Game! It would be nice if there is an indication of which tracks I can switch to

Developer (1 edit)

Glad you liked it! I feel that, it was tricky to balance speed with steering, and had we more time, I would have designed it a little differently. Big branches in the track I think were the hardest part to draw the eye to.

You can reach some crazy speed in this game, I love it! The music and artwork are great as well, amazing work with this!

Great game!

This is very good idea for a game and made really well! I love how fast you can get going and I won't ask how you make a roller coaster car do kickflips but the combo idea worked really well. Nice work!

Really creative take on the theme!  And for 3 days, a really solid game.  Controls felt good.  Audio was fitting.  No bugs.  Just felt really good all around.  Very well done, everyone!
