Cool concept! Gotta be honest, was very overwhelmed with the systems though, maybe introducing them one after the other might help to ease in new players? I also couldn't really tell if the things I did had a large impact on the playing field, maybe some indication for weaknesses might help with that? I like that the soundtrack was adjusted depending on what combination you chose. Overall, I think this is a really cool idea that could lead a little more guidance for new players.

Developer

yeah!  Next iteration we will have to improve that experience.  It's a lot all at once, and I think some of the information isn't shown as clearly as it could be.

Very fun game! I got to wave 10. The music is nice, I liked being able to make my own beats. I think that the explanation of controls/enemy types was a bit overwhelming to take in all at once, maybe some UI highlighting would've helped? Anyways, I really enjoyed the game once I fully understood what was happening, so good job :)

Great game and also really easy to understand. This concept could have gotten convoluted and or confusing but the way it was taught and laid out made it very easy to pickup. Nicely done. I also just think that this is a genre match made in heaven and I am surprised that I have not seen this mixture of wave based tower defense with rhythm game.

Feedback: I think perhaps more visual indication when an enemy is invulnerable to your attacks would be a good idea. Just because there are so many enemies on screen it can be easy to lose sight of how effective your attacks are or are not.

Fantastic idea and execution for a game, and also really great soundtrack. I had a lot of fun.

Thanks for the feedback!  Definitely agree that is something we can improve on in the next iteration.

Groovy soundtrack to do with some groovy gameplay! The names you gave the different attacks are creative, and playing in sync was a lot of fun. Great work putting this together!

Honestly genius mechanic. Who'd have thought that a mix of a tower defense and rhythm game would be so cool. The mechanics are a tad hard to grasp at first but I get how making tutorials in a jam can be difficult so really I would love to see this expanded upon.

The integration of your moves with the music was great. Every mechanic felt like it was properly shown and represented on screen as well which is nice. It was a bit hard to distinguish enemies sometimes though, especially with so many on screen. It made countering weaknesses hard.

Really liked the concept, I’d love to see more of the idea - switching between styles felt really smooth, and you can’t convince me that arpeggio/poison is anything below top tier.

Definitely took me a while to get the hang of it, but I’d love to see the concept developed further with a more approachable resistances/weaknesses system. Nice one!

Love the music, love the concept, very much so a great altogether experience! I do wish it was a bit simpler to start? I found myself needing to play a couple times in order to understand what I was doing.

We realized the game felt overwhelming to new players thanks to last minute play testing. The DJ Deck overview was a last minute attempt to explain all the parts we combined. I think we needed to introduce different loops and effects piecemeal (it was in the back of our minds, but we wanted the full vision first). Thanks for the kind words!

Unfortunately I can't give you too many stars in "artwork", but despite that this game is amazing guys, you should reslly upgrade it and publish somewere

Developer

haha, yeah.  very understandable.  Art would definitely need to be improved to put it on steam or up for sale.

Great idea, and great technical implementation, the looping and beat matching works flawlessly. Would like to this fleshed out more!

Thank you for the kind words!

The overall concept has some potential. I liked how it felt like a different song based on how I was playing.

Developer(+1)

One of the goals was to make you truly feel like a DJ.  I hope we did that.

veryyy cool Idea. I think if you a little more work on it you can lunch it on store

Developer(+1)

Thanks!  I think we'd need a proper artist, and then to add a lot more depth around choosing samples and loops.  Probably rogue-lite stuff.  definitely happy with how the concept turned out.

Really cool idea! Feels like a rhythm-powered tower defense game. The music-as-weapon system is both intuitive and stylish, I found myself vibing with it pretty quickly. Definitely a concept with lots of potential!

Took me a minute to realize what was going on but once i did I had a lot of fun. Really cool concept. Nice work!

Developer

If you have any more information on what you were confused about would love to hear it.  Either way thanks!  Glad you had fun!

i think because of there being 4 notes and 4 lanes i somehow got in my head each letter would be assigned to the lane rather than all lanes for the next note. It didn’t take too long to realize my mistake though.

Exceptionally kickin beats :D Lots of potential in a drum-loop meets plants vs. zombies concept! Thanks :D

thanks so much!  =)

awesome concept

Developer

Thanks!  It was a lot of fun to build!  I personally have wanted to build a rhythm game, and this was a perfect opportunity!
