Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
I looked at the games that "started" the gaming history, ignited a flame and increased popularity of gaming, and I influenced by space-invader and decided to make a shmup game

Solid mechanics, found myself playing your game for a while haha. I didn't really understand the upgrade or the skills, but I kept trying to get them and double clicking and ending up getting pretty far. I think the homing bullets are a bit too hard to avoid especially when you can only move left and right. Otherwise than though, great work on the game jam!

Pretty solid all round. A nice amount of power ups and enemy variations. The only thing I would recommend changing is that the homing bullets don't change course so quickly, they are the only thing that seems unfair. Great job overall, well done.

Fun game!

I like the sounds and some of the skills visuals like the lightning chain between the enemy ships.

I find the control a bit too restrictive. In modern bullet hell games they often let you use the whole screen as movable space so you have a much greater degree of control of your ship. Maybe if it's meant to a be a mobile game then it's a bit different and you want to restrict the control to just left and right, then in which case the enemy bullets probably needs different behaviors.

Either way, good job on your first game and I hope you continue to improve upon it.

Developer

Thanks man! I wanted to limit movement to make simple controls that way people would have less things to think just right and left

Lots of fun and great selection of power ups!

On a side note: Maybe you could add a description of bullet types to the game page, I did not get the difference between red and orange.

Developer

Thanks man I plan to continue it after jam! You're right I should've describe bullet types too. There's just three bullet types blue ones destroyable and creates electric zone. Purple is homing and red is normal bullet. Orange is used for expressing how much damage bullet does! More red and darker the bullet deals more damage. Thanks for your comment.

It’s a great game. I loved the retro concept.

Everything is a bit big and it makes it very claustrophobic. But I suppose on mobile it could be better. Either way, nice first game.

really appreciated that the game has mobile supports, loved the art and the different upgrades and powerups dropped from the ships, would appreciate if you could give my game a shot.

I like this! Looks great. Plays well. Nostalgic. waves get gradually more and more difficult. Well balanced game. Easy mode was very do-able. Hard mode was really hard on level 6. great music and fitting sound effect. I had a lot of fun with this game. well done!

I enjoyed this. Nice sprites, varied enemies. Liked the retro-inspired soundtrack

Pretty fun but feels like a mobile game and the UI is pretty messy

Developer

Thanks man! I'm planning to publish it on play store after polishing it

The story is endearing. gameplay was a little stiff but it was alright. Would love to see more enemy types. Also i think it would be better to make the background move to show the illusion that we're moving. felt a little awkward cuz it looked like the ship was standing still eventho the thrusters are on. Good job!

Awesome game! I love the different mechanics of each enemies bullet. You can instantly tell by the color how the bullets gonna behave

Enjoyed my playtime - solid work.

Good job on submitting a complete game!

However the bullets of the enemy somehow reminded me more of bubbles than bullets.

Developer

thanks for your comment. I made the enemy bullets slower than player bullets for gameplay purposes so I changed its shape because I thought a slow bullet would be looking bad...

Very fun ! Excellent game, I feel like the size of the player is a bit unfair to me, in many level start you are almost garanteed to get hit. The art style is awesome !!

Developer

Thanks for the review!!! Yeah I need to work for the balance a bit more...

Pretty fun game, although there's a lack of sounds when I hit enemies or destroy them. I see that the controls are meant for mobile too, which is nice. Got to level 3. Only complaint is that the shield doesn't remove the blue shocking projectiles

Edit: I tried it again after seeing Inbound Shovel playing it with proper sounds, and I think the sliders volume in the menu was a bit bugged. Or at least the default volume in the middle was too soft, making me think that the game had no sounds. Sorry about that.

Love the idea, and the artwork! The controls felt fine but the thin screen and the inability to move forwards and backwards made it feel unfair at times, like I couldn't escape the bullets. I did enjoy it, nice take on the theme.

I really like the art style but the gameplay felt a bit weird, the spaceship didn't follow the cursor immediately which made it feel less responsive and made it harder to dodge some bullets (especially the homing ones). Other than that, I really liked the game!

Developer

You can always use arrow keys and space for it spaceship doesn't follows cursor it's for mobile gameplay actually, thanks for complementing my art style and game.
