Yoo this game has the pogo mechanic! I lreally enjoyed playing, I like mice and machine guns, truly an overpowered combination! Kudos for making this :D
Personally, I'm not a fan of arrow key movement, despite this I really enjoyed the game. The premise is simple, but executed well, and the final boss was a lot of fun to fight against. I really like the gun being used for vertical movement as well. I could see this type of character working in a metroidvania, where unlocking a specific gun or upgrade could allow the gun to launch you upwards in order to reach new areas.
Well done!
Yeah people are pretty mixed about the controls, which is great feedback. I'm definitely going to use more familiar controls next time. I appreciate your comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)
ugghh! those spikes are unforgiving! Had a great time playing the game! and what an awesome use of the limitation! great job
Yeah the spikes are tricky! Thanks so much for your comment and taking time to play my game :)
Very nice, little, and cute game!!
hot take : never mess with a mouse that has a gun
Thanks a bunch! Let's hope we never encounter a mouse with a gun :)
A bit of an adjustment to control with the arrows, but probably a me thing. Really cute game. I love the art and audio. I like using the gun as almost a hover mechanic while working on escaping. Well done!
Yeah, the controls aren't very traditional, definitely not a you thing! I appreciate you taking the time to play my game, thanks for the feedback :)
Very fun little game, I had a little trouble with the controls, because i usually play with WASD and Space, but maybe the engine can´t do these keys. I also liked the art-style and the idea, kinda reminds me of squirrel with a gun.
I definitely think I could have remapped the controls to something more familiar, because you're right. Most players use WASD and space. I will check if spacebar is supported (it should be). Thanks for the feedback and playing my game! :)
I normally hate retro-style platformers, but the ability to slow-jump with the machine gun was actually really well done and made it feel MUCH less frustrating than other games like it. I love the concept, and it felt really fun to play! Well done!
I'm with you on that! Retro platformers can sometimes feel a bit too punishing and have moments of frustration. I wanted this one to be a bit more lighthearted and simple with a sprinkle of challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by and playing :)
mouse with gun that sounds like tv static
You just gave me an idea for a TV gun... stay tuned ;)
Note to self: never mess with a mouse carrying a machine gun. Concept wise, this is a 5/5 for me. I’ve always thought of mice as survivors, but this takes it to a whole new level!
A mouse with a machine gun AND an itchy trigger finger! Thanks a bunch for checking it out, and I'm glad you liked the concept :)
Cute little PICO-8 game. I was not expecting the mouse to have a massive gun! Implementation works really well; there's some fun platforming ideas that come out of the approach of using the momentum of the shot. It was short and sweet and very easy to expand the scope of this. I liked there being an endgame boss and a scene of freeing the mice to give some closure! Game was super forgiving - resetting the states (i.e. blocks, enemies) would add a little bit of challenge if you're looking for more of a precision platformer style. Good work!
Thank you, I appreciate your comment :) I had tons of fun making it and I'm glad you played!
Great job on the art and animation. The concept is hilarious from the moment you pick up the rifle. I was pleasantly surprised by using it as a sort of jepack, which is a great way to give one tool multiple functions. Extra kudos for pulling this off in PICO-8. Short, simple, and very effective.
Wow, thank you! I still have lots to learn but that's part of why we do this, right? :) Thanks for playing, and I appreciate your comment!
First of all, the gunshot sound reminded of the calming waves of the atlantic ocean, if only the waves were trying to make me go deaf. Jokes aside, great aesthetic and loved how you could shoot down to "fly"
LOL! My bad, my bad. I promise I'm not trying to make you go deaf <3 Thanks for playing!
Hah that damn chain smoking foreman!!! Really, really love the strange aesthetic. The dancing mice with the red eyes in the background?!!! The bizarre but somehow fitting and consistent color palette?!! The fact that everything is on fire for some reason???!!! Lol so good! Could easily see an expanded version of this with more levels that combine the action, light puzzles, and platforming. Nice work!!
That damn foreman, I tell you what!! He really can't stand seeing a mouse with a machine gun! I'm glad you were into it, I really appreciate your comment! :)
I love the art and the use of the theme!
Thank you, friend!
It's really beautiful, you can feel the retro vibe in it.
I'm glad you could find beauty in it :')
Thats cool and weird
That's what I like to hear :)
To be completely fair, the concept of a mouse with a machine gun definitely feels overpowered, especially when the little mf'er can fly! This was so much fun and I love the aesthetic and the sound design!
Man, this mouse is doing all sorts of overpowered stuff! Thanks so much for playing and giving feedback :)
Man that was hella nice! I loved the arcade feel to it, the sfx the music it felt just like i was playing a gameboy or snes game! You did amazing for what you were trying to do, and i loved the gameplay like shooting downwards and using recoil
I appreciate the comment, and I'm glad you got that arcade feel from it! Thanks for playing :)
Shooting downwards to fly is a really fun mechanic, although I think having to immediately use it to fly through a tight set of spikes is a bit harsh haha. Other than that, I liked the cutesy art style and simple music. The mouse felt nice to control, which sometimes isn't the case when the game window is so small, but you managed to make it feel very smooth.
Hey, thanks for playing! I can totally understand the harshness of the spikes, haha. I may have underestimated their difficulty after playtesting that section so much. I appreciate your comment!
