Gray is a timelord, who went insane after looking into the time vortex. Although he went quietly. No one was aware until as he got old he got stranger. From obsessive crushes to reckless regard for his own safety.
There was one who understood him. But when she graduated she left with out him.
Some time later he's travelling along in a rather sorry for it's self TARDIS.
