Also, this can't be said enough by the few of us that still stick around here it seems....

I totally miss the 'good ol' LJ days', you know, like when you could entertain yourself for an hour with the updates since the day before. Then if you were bored 6 hours later or so you could check again and there was bound to be at least a few new posts. As you can see, I'm doing MY part to turn this around in 2015! Seriously, can't shut me up anymore :P

In the meantime... any of the 5 or so people who still read and respond have any suggestions for new freinds? Preferably not people who are going to be like "well... OK, but it'd be better if you added me on Facebook" Because I will not. Even with my continuing hatred of it, I begrudgingly accept Facebook for a few things. Talking about what's "really going on" with me is not and will never be one of them. It feels far, FAR too insecure for that.

Maybe I just need to start an independent blog or something. I went through a phase of registering any decent blog name I thought of on things like blogger and wordpress. Maybe I should see if any are worth pursuing and go that route. All I can say for sureis I need some more interaction.

Sorry about the casualties. Indicative of a deteriorating state of mind. Needed less of an audience.
i raise you one snarky comment

Last night I dreamt that I was trying to convince all my friends that, second to his music of course, John Lennon was famous for making root beer.

I'm not sure if I actually believed this in my dream and was trying to convince them of it or if I'd just made it up and wanted to see if I could get people to believe it. Either one sounds possible... :)

So now the ad that shows up on my LJ page is for an over-the-counter paternity test.

That's good, for all these strange babies I keep poppin' out! :P

Writer's Block: My Dream Job

What is your dream job? Do you think you'll ever have it?
The simple answer is that my dream job would be writing for a living. And I do that. So I already have it. Awesome :)

I suppose if you want to get even more technical though, my dream job would be writing whatever I want, likely fiction. (Is it silly? I've always wanted to be a Young Adult book author, probably some HOPEFULLY cool young adult novels which I think are often a lot better than people give them credit for, being 'kid's books' and all, but I wouldn't even mind cranking out some semi-formulaic series as well!) In that case, I'm not quite there, but I still get to write blog entries for work which is basically whatever random thought or rant I want to throw down a few paragraphs on, and we're encouraged to have a bit of a smartass tone in our comments on the headlines and such so... it's not quite the DREAM, but it's better than like when I was first checking to see if any writing jobs existed for me and I'd come up with "technical writer for car maintenance manuals" or something like that :P

The Boredom That Is Monday, Part 1

Flip-flop woman at work is driving me crazy. First by the fact that she's WEARING flip-flops! I mean we're fairly casual, I could probably get away with wearing jeans every day if i wanted to and they were NICE jeans, no holes and fringies and crap. But isn't flip-flops pushing it a little? Not to mention she's our front desk person and as far as I know, they've kind of held them to higher dress standards because that's the first person visitors see and all that good stuff. Nothing extreme, just prefer you don't wear jeans, look clean and professional.

I don't consider flip-flops professional. Plus on Friday I swear she was wearing some sort of peasant top and BIKE SHORTS!!! Maybe no one said anything then because no one looked closely enough and just saw black that ended about at the knees like where 'dress' shorts would be. But trust me, these were no dress shorts. They were skin-tight and they were bike shorts...and I don't know if I want to see this woman in bike shorts to begin with. But even on a Friday I think that's pushing the boundary of casual more than anyone should in a semi-professional environment.

Writer's Block: Talking Ducks

Happy birthday, Donald Duck! Which cartoon character do you think is the most disturbing?
This was actually claymation (which in general is creepier than animation to me) and I don't remember what it was called but it was this kids show with a snake (i believe) on the ground and a monkey in a tree. It was supposed to be teaching some lesson because the monkey was all like "I'm awesome! I'm in this tree and you're a stupid snake so you can't get up here" (hmm...maybe it wasn't a snake, i imagine the snake being able to slither up a tree) ANYWAY, and miscellaneous animal on the ground explains why he enjoys being on the ground instead so the monkey gets jealous and jumps down but there are thorns surrounding the tree and he dies. I know it's just claymation but he frickin' DIES by falling into thorns! I never felt so disturbed as a kid as when I saw that little clay monkey get impaled by fake thorns.

Oh yeah, close second would be that bird lady in 'Spirited Away'

Writer's Block: BFF

BFF
Who was your first friend on LiveJournal? Are they still on your Friends list?
Um, well I don't remember the first friends that didn't stick around too well because HELLO! That was over 8 years ago :P I can't remember if the leftover thai food in my fridge is from sometime this week or last week. Don't ask these things of me.

BUT....my first LJ friend EVAR was Zuwarah and she's still here under the name of kwins
And I'm pretty positive my second LJ friend EVAR was  xdiscomposed  who has gone through approximately 712 names since I first met her but I really want to say the first one I had on my list was becoming_x
