10:29 AM 4/6/05 - My sense of time is, admittedly, a bit screwy so I may be misremembering a related detail. Earlier today I was watching a repeat from the show 7 Days where a female artificial intelligence is threatening to unleash armageddon on the world if this one guy doesn't jack into her virtual world to be with her. Despite some symmetry, this isn't the issue I refer to.

Periodically, throughout the episode, you see lines of code running from top to bottom on her screen. It's green and it's Matrix code.

Or is it?

See, the problem is I can't recall when this particular episode first aired; was it before the Matrix came out or after? If it was before then it brings up the question how was the code selected in the first place for both series. Did the creators of the matrix series invent their own code for the movie or borrow from an existing source?

Anybody a bit more geekified willing to step in and enlighten me?

I was skimming for amusing Matrix icons for another community of mine when I stumbled over this. It's just so beautiful and giggle inducing I had to share...

Being jacked into the Matrix, anything that happens within the system to your RSI (virtual self) effects your real body. Like that old axiom that dying in a dream will kill you in life.

You get hit = bloody lip
Shot = tore up inside
Break a limb = body spasms to break the bone
Die = die

You get the idea.

By the same token, good things effect your real body the same way...which begs the question: what happens to a person if they're having sex while jacked in? I don't suppose operators wander around with spare towels...

The point, or question, I'm dancing around here is this hypothetical; a ship crashes and its operator and pilot are killed but all the other equipment still fundamentally works. The only survivors of whatever happened are all jacked in. Eating within the Matrix, to some extent, staves off hunger in the actual body but without actual nourishment, the body will eventually start to atrophy and starve.

How long do you suppose they could survive like that?

Think of this as a recruitment drive. Matrix Theory is a combination Matrix questions community and OOC for any and all Matrix RPGs. Think the user info pretty much covers all that effectively enough.

Outside of this thing, don't much about any of you. Though, i suppose, it should be fairly evident that you all like the Matrix...to one degree or another. Beyond that, what any of you like is a bit vague.

One of the things I like, possibly love, is trance. I'm local to the SF Bay Area and there's this radio station (105.3 FM) that plays a solid 5 hour set of it every saturday night called SubSonic. I only mention it because in the last 2 months there's this one piece, it's been making the top 5, they play that's very Matrix oriented: DJ Hive - "Neo". It has samples in it from Revolutions but even without those it would still be beautiful.
