the boy in the crystal, ch. 2 rumors
The Seven Rings Circus & Traveling Museum was stationed about a mile from the tavern. It was like they remembered–tents sparkling, cage bars clanging, acrobats glittering in their costumes like new snow, soft grunts and groans prickling Sheik’s ears. And somewhere in the labyrinth of cloth and sound was a blue tent labeled The Gallery of Crystal Oddities, frost blowing in and out of the entrance as if the exhibition itself could breathe.
Next chapter of the boy in the crystal is up. Please give it some love!
Pairing: This is basically a Sheik/Link/Malon fic, not a love triangle but more of a we all get along really, really well if you get my drift fic. this chapter is heavy on the Sheik/Malon. Rating: M Universe: Ocarina of Time AU

spiders
summary: she’s forgotten how to flinch, and wishes she knew how to.
universe: ocarina of time, pairing: f!sheik/link
There’s a kind of spider that lives in the crevices of Death Mountain–ugly, nondescript, black with little red dots on the side, uninteresting except that their webs smell like candy. Sheik watches as one sits in its deadly strings, and bites her lip as a fairy drifts and is caught in the scent. The spider drops, and Sheik spares one of her smallest needles before the worst of it, piercing pink skin, the universe’s tiniest squeal ringing in her ears.
It’s a demon’s job, or maybe just a Sheikah’s, sirocco-lost and rewritten, again, by unflinching mentors. Grind the liver of this creature and your feet move quicker. Drink a potion of fig and frog and faewing and your skin heals clean. The bone of a Stalfos, the breath of a Poe–each useful, most horrid, none forbidden. She almost-prays–rare in these times– that the Hero will never see this work. Still. The tunic would bring breath to his lungs, but it would not save him from dragon flame.
Sometimes (often) she does not like the things she knows.
Another fairy cries out and she turns, red eyes trained on another spider, and sinks another needle into the sparkle. Then another, and another, the dark of the mountain coming awake with a series of fading lights and soft wails, her fingers growing numb from the webs’ toxins, each fading dying light dropped into her bottles.
Suddenly, the mountain shakes, and there’s no sweet-web smell, only clouds of dust and burning air. The Goron have begun to move down into the village over the last week, as if that would make a difference.

Her armour stopped the heat but it didn’t stop the sulfur, or the smoke, or her stomach from lurching up to her throat, or her teeth from biting her lips shut when Link steps forward, silent questions billowing from him,and she wants to answer: no, Hero, I can’t, again, they need me, they use me, like they do to you, too. Her fingers play exactly two slow notes before rushing up into the melody and he follows, the song taking them and –
–just as suddenly stopping, and he breathes out while she leans back, and before he can even think to speak she is gone, forever in the fissures, the burn of hands that could not touch buzzing over the whole of her, legs dangling and hands blistered, mouth still red.
~
Later, she finds him, back at the village, the skin on his back pink, and new, glistening with balm, and he doesn’t look at her when she says his name softly.

Sheik loved him, of course she loved him; and she was an idiot for it but she certainly wasn’t the world’s first fool. And for seven years of waiting, or was it a thousand, she’d stuffed it down, didn’t let herself admit it, didn’t let herself feel. And now he was here, and three temples in, and maybe, just maybe, they’d actually manage to pull this off, and maybe, just maybe, after it was done, her fantasy of tearing through the hills on their horses and seeing every corner of the country together might just come true. It was a lie–it always was, of course, but it was a good lie, and when when she’d teach him, as she always would, when their songs tied them in a little knot and she would always wonder: can’t you see, can’t you see?

Summary: Weird and invisible and close, so close. Universe: Ocarina of Time Pairing: f!Sheik/Link Rating: G
Link knew what Saria was now, even if he didn’t admit it–and he’d still talk to her, her voice different now, clearer, but more ringing, like the way a bell sounds when you’re a little too close and the clang almost-hurts your ear. It was better, he supposed, or at least less frustrating than the muffle of a certain mask, or the eyes that lingered in the dark, but he liked the way their bodies tied together when they had to fight some beast or other, held like fingers, strings wound tight, so tight.
Saria, ever his bell-mouthed mother, was the first one to say it: you love the shadow, don’t you?
And Link was the muffled one, then, muttering yeah and also leave it alone, Saria, which of course the sage did not, and a slow pang spread through his chest at the way her laugh rang out through a thousand different worlds.
You should tell her, was the reply.
“I won’t,” he yelled to the laughing-silent air, glaring and smirking at nothing and everything, unaware (or not?) of those who might be watching.
