Dear Yuletide Writer,

I'm very excited that you exist, and are reading this letter! Before I talk about my requested fandoms, just some general info about what I like to read:

I definitely stay in the fluffy/humorous/rom-com side of the fandom pool. I can handle some light angst if there's a happy or at least hopeful resolution, but dark!fic, angst and hurt with no comfort are really not for me.

I enjoy banter, wordplay, dialogue too witty to be real, and cleverness in general. I especially like (kind-hearted) parodies and (especially sexual or romantic) farce. Also AUs, both the "slight change of canon makes everything different" kind AND the trope-rriffic "they're all high school students who moonlight as barista dentists in space. And also they're all cats, did I mention?" kind. I do like A/B/O as long as the emphasis isn't on dystopic elements.

I read explicit porn, but I enjoy PG-13 romances and gen just as much. I am in general down for femslash, slash or het though I do have preferences about particular characters and I primarily read slash.

Now, my requested fandoms:

Midsomer Murders

Tallis Filby
Freddy Chettham

I was really intrigued by these two characters from the series 12 episode "The Creeper". They have a pseudo-incestuous vibe going on AND they go on to have cat-burgling adventures in Scotland, apparently. I would love anything exploring their "I was attracted to you even when I thought we were secret half-siblings" dynamic. Some thoughts off the top of my head: maybe they discover they really enjoy incest roleplay in bed? Or similarly, anything where they realize the (perceived) incest was part of their attraction to each other, such as guilty (pre-reveal) wanking while thinking of each other. I'd also be happy with their further adventures (Tallis showing Freddy the cat-burgling ropes!) or pretty much any interaction between these two, including shippy stuff that downplays the incestuous vibe.

Storage Wars Texas

Mary Padian
Jenny Grumbles
Clinton "Bubba" Smith

I just love the interactions between these three on the show and what we've seen of Mary and Jenny on their own talking about Bubba. Mary says Bubba's like her brother so she's not attracted to him any more! :D I enjoy that they seem to have pretty realistic, awkward interaction for people who are stuck together as co-workers on a storage auction-based reality show. I'd love a threesome of some sort (doesn't need to be explicit) with the girls bossing Bubba around, or any kind of gen adventures for the three of them you can imagine! I'm not wedded to the canon setting/scenario here (though I do enjoy it), so this is a great fandom for an AU of any sort. I see that in the new episodes Mary and Jenny aren't working together anymore; I'm fine with fics that reflect that or ones that cheerfully ignore it.

Le Serment des Horaces | Oath of the Horatii- Jacques-Louis David

Tell me more about this awesome painting! I didn't nominate any particular characters because of all the various figures in the painting, none interest me more than others. I just dig ancient, at-least-half-mythical Roman history, and the scene of this painting isn't taken from any particular ancient source, and I really like that idea, of a more modern "invention" of Roman historical anecdotes/exempla virtutis. If you wanted to give me some faux Livy or Dionysius of Helicarnassus as an invented source, that would be neat. (Dream scenario: in Latin, though I totally understand that would be asking for a lot! Just, you know, in the Yuletide of my dreams.)

Roman Mythology - Fandom

Gaius Mucius Scaevola

Goddamn do I love Mucius Scaevola, stone-cold badass. Giving dramatic speeches while his hand burns right off! I'm reasonably sure Scaevola is the ur-source of all my love for people stoically enduring pain and suffering. I'd love a story where Scaevola embodies the essence of "Iron Woobie" or whatever it is the kids are calling it these days, without much emphasis on the "woobie". Some post-incident hurt/comfort or his (modest) reaction to later praise would be cool. Or, be wacky and write me a story where he's the Roman Chuck Norris. Mucius Scaevola facts! Just emphasize the stoical aspect of whatever and I'll be there.

Dear Yuletide Writer,

I'm very excited that you exist, and are reading this letter! I've never done Yuletide before, so hopefully I've got this letter thing down okay.

Also AUs, both the "slight change of canon makes everything different" kind AND the trope-rriffic "they're all high school students who moonlight as baristas in space. And also they're all cats, did I mention?" kind.

I read explicit porn, but I enjoy PG-13 romances and gen just as much. I am in general down for femslash, slash or het though I do have preferences about particular characters and I primarily read slash. Please no polyamory or open relationships.

WordGirl - Becky Botsford | WordGirl, Captain Huggy Face, Theodore "Tobey" McAllister III, Narrator

I'd be interested in a shippy story about Becky and Tobey, either set in the future or the awkward present. If set in the future, I'd love you forever for an as-adults story where their relationship is serious enough that Becky reveals that she's WordGirl (or maybe he's dating WordGirl and WordGirl reveals that she's Becky) and the fallout of that. I'd still like to see the other characters I requested in Becky/Tobey fic, because you know Bob and The Narrator have opinions about whatever happens! Cameos by any and all other characters welcome as well.

I also just love the heck out of the cleverness of this show, so I'd equally enjoy gen. My favorite part of every episode is Huggy's ridiculous dance after he illustrates a vocabulary word, and anything with, say, Huggy POV or lots of heroics or goofball antics for him would delight me. Maybe Tobey could build a robot!Huggy?

This would also be a great fandom for humor, maybe something playing around with a vocabulary theme, where WordGirl stops to define sexual terms like "figging" (age her up, please, if you go with a scenario like this) or fandom terms like "woobie".

Virgins by Caryl Rivers - Peggy Morrison, Sean McCaffrey, Constance Masters Wepplener

(11/3/2012 Edit For Extremely Dumb Mistake on My Part: So, my copy of Virgins is in storage and inaccessible at the moment, and when I went to nominate it for Yuletide I ended up resorting to hunting through people's Goodreads reviews to make sure I had the correct last names for the characters. I think I found Con's on a review of the sequel, actually, and I was worried it wasn't right, but I couldn't find a full name for her anywhere else online. Only today did it occur to me that I could look inside the Kindle edition of Virgins on Amazon to find it. (Duh.) And sure enough, Masters is her married name. OOPS. So, author, if you are writing for this fandom, I did indeed mean Con as in Constance Marie Wepplener, and it's not a sign that I only want a story that takes place after her wedding, or that you should keep waiting for another Con to appear in the book. It's just a sign that I made a dumb mistake during nominations. Mea culpa.)

This is my favorite book ever, and I'd be so happy to get any sort of fic for it! I most enjoy the relationship between Peggy and Sean, how great and functional it is considering how young they are, and how sexually repressed their world is, and all the other things going on in their lives. I also love Peggy and Con's friendship, how Con is simultaneously so worldly and so hungry for the security of normal. I mostly enjoy Peggy in how she relates to other characters, to be honest. It'd be great to see something set immediately or not long after the book, when Peggy's at college and Con's married and Sean's at the seminary, or maybe a wacky shenanigan or serious learning experience in line with many of the episodes in the book. I only nominated the three main characters but cameos from any of the minor book characters (like Sean's father, or Sister Justinian) would be a great bonus.

Please note that Virgins does have a sequel (Girls Forever Brave and True) but I prefer the characters in the Virgins era so did not nominate the sequel, and Virgins stands well all on its own, so familiarity with the sequel would have minimal benefit for a writer. (Basically, don't feel like you need to read the sequel, obviously, since I didn't nominate it, but also please don't worry that if something about your fic turns out to contradict what happens in Girls Forever Brave and True, I'll be upset, because I totally won't. Promise.)

Dinosaur Train - Buddy, Tiny

I ... ship Buddy/Tiny. So, if you're up for writing incest between dinosaur siblings of different species from a kids' show, yay! If not, that's cool, too! For gen I'd especially love a world-building focused story, not necessarily very serious, about how troodons managed to invent a time traveling train, or how dinosaur society deals with sentient species preying upon each other, or whether the time-traveling train means dinosaurs know about their inevitable mass extinction and how they deal with it (do they have religions focused on the hope represented by evolving into birds? does the train just refuse to go past a certain era?) Extend Buddy and Tiny's curiosity beyond the realm of different species!

If you are up for the incest, I'd like anything dealing with 1) when they first realize they have romantic/sexual/mating feelings for each other, and then become aware that it's wrong, unworkable, etc. (as a shipper I'd love for them to get past this but I'm okay with unresolved (mild) angst here) 2) how their family finds out or takes the news (again, as a shipper, I'd love it if they were ultimately accepting); 3) the issue of not being able to produce eggs together, possibly adopting dinosaurs of a bunch of different species in a similar way to how Buddy was adopted and raising them with curiosity and love of the dinosaur train; 4) making things work when Buddy is a full-grown T Rex and needs a different habitat, sleep environment, etc. from a pteranodon like Tiny.

It'd be fine with me to take one of my shippy prompts and have Buddy and Tiny spending their lives/raising kids together in a platonic way, as well. I enjoy their special bond and just want to see them having a future together.

Also, in case you can't tell, I do love this show, but I spend a good chunk of the time watching it asking "but ... how does it work?" so that's a great angle to approach pretty much any aspect of the show in a fic for me.

Classical Greek and Roman RPF - Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa

Agrippa's always been my favorite figure of the Augustan Era, because I think of him as being a bit low-key, fade-into-the-background, things-being-done-right-is-all-the-reward-necessary kind of person, and I love those traits! A character piece focused just on him, maybe going about his (relatively) unglamorous day as Augustus or whoever is a bit of a diva in the background, or anything with Agrippa being a competent and quiet BAMF who solves crises, would delight me no end. I am also fond of his relationship with Julia, and their sons, and if they show up, that'd be a lovely plus. Please, no slash pairing for Agrippa.

Oh hey, if you like Remus/Sirius AT ALL, run, don't walk to read the remix of my story, Dolce Far Niente, over at AO3. It's called Impressions in the Dust (Nothing Left But History Remix) and it is AMAZING. It fleshes in all the more somber notes behind my fluffy, "boys on vacation" story and makes it so much more thoughtful. I am blown away, and had to rec it to my flist immediately!

AO3 Query

ineffabilitea: (Default)
Anyone have a system or suggestions for posting mostly short (drabble-length+) fic bits for a prompts community (like [livejournal.com profile] scarvesnhats and the other Remus/Sirius seasonal comms) to AO3? I can't decide whether it's better to post each separately and tag them all "community: scarvesnhats" or call them a series (though they are not part of the same universe, and I think that's what the series feature is meant for) or maybe make a collection of some sort? Maybe post them as chapters of a story titled "Pieces written for Scarvesnhats"?

BTW, yes this means I've started posting stuff over at AO3. Only a few things for now, but it's a start. I know I'm not tagging enough, but I'm not sure what to tag my early Remus/Sirius stuff other than "embarassing".
