Hey there, I'm Marie, 18, and new to the world of piercings.

I've wanted an industrial for a very long time, researched it endlessly, and now I am prepared to take the plunge. I just have a few questions first.

1) Will the shop provide the first barbell that gets put in after they pierce me, or will I have to buy one beforehand? Are there different
    sizes?
2) What sort of questions should I ask when I go to set up the appointment/get pierced?

3) I know that I have to clean it very often. Thing is, I work in a food restaurant….would it be a bad idea to get it pierced and go to
work a day later? I just don’t want it to bleed/puss all over someone’s Tuna Tar-tar.

4) What ear do you have yours in? I was thinking getting it in my right, since I sleep on my left side, but at work I carry tray on my
    right shoulder…so I don’t know.

Uh I can’t remember any of my other questions, but this should do for now.

Thank you!

edit// When it is pierced and the barbell is put in, is a tube usually used to push the barbell through the second hole? Because I've seen people who've had this done, and others who've had the piercer pretty much fold the ear to get it in...that scares me.

Thin, flimsy ear??

Hi all, I'm going to get an industrial this week sometime. I only have 3 lobe piercings on each ear and vertical nipple piecrings so I'm very excited to add some more to the collection :) I just want to know if it will even be possible before I go in... my ears are thin, like I can bend them really easily. If I get a 14 gauge barbell, do you think it will weigh it down and cause my ear to stick out or bend? Maybe this is dumb but I want to know before I have any probs with my piercing. Thanks :D

Lumps around the piercing site?

My indy got a little infection, so I took the bar out and had some captive bead rings put in instead. Now the front one has formed an odd lump just above the site of the piercing. I tried to open it, thinking it was infection swelling, but it just bled. Anyone know anything about this phenomenon? Similar experiences?

Question about new piercings

Hello all! I just got my indy piercing on Tuesday and I love it. I have a question, though. Did anyone else experience this -

The anti-helix part of the piercing seems to be fine, but the helix part (in the back) is still bleeding slightly. I am cleaning it with salt water and a Q-tip (I have to use table salt because I don't have any sea salt, but I've used table salt on piercings before so I figure it's okay) and every time I clean the back part, the Q-tip comes away with blood on it. Does anyone know how long that should happen? It's not a massive amount of blood, just streaks, but still I worry about infection/rejection/etc.

Thanks for your insights.

please help!

Hey all, i've had my indy for about half a year already but I lost my bar.
Is there anything I can do to keep it open?
I currently have a needle through it: fear of it being closed.
How long does it take for it to heal up?
Im Singaporean and i've tried 3 shops, they don't sell it anymore.
Indy bars are pretty scarce in Singapore. ):
Please HELP!

I am so excited! I got my very first piercing EVER today and I LOVE it.

(By the way, my hair is not that colour. That is my mad 'shop skillz at work. Although I do one day wish to have it that colour. I think it would be kick-ass.)

Pain: Wow. Let me tell you where to get piercings done. TRIBAL EXPRESSION ON 16TH AVE IN CALGARY, AB. Do not ever ever go anywhere else. Keith is a piercing god. I cannot believe it. I've heard horror stories about this piercing. It is supposed to be one of the most painful. Whoever these people are (and they, unfortunately for themselves, number quite high) - they must be going to seedy parlours with piercers who have no effing clue what they are doing.

It did not hurt. It was uncomfortable, yes, but it did not hurt. I was very nervous. But when he put the needle through, I actually asked "um, is that it?". My ear was on fire, but it was kind of nice. I can see why piercings are addictive. Though I doubt I'll get another one anytime soon. This one takes 3 months to heal so I'm going to focus on that. Besides, I've been lusting after this piercing for almost 2 years. Yeah right I'm going to get another piercing done without tons of forethought. I'm the impulsive type.

Hello, lovelies!

I've come with somewhat of a dilemma, I'm afraid.

There seems to be a bump forming near the top of my industrial.  Nothing big, don't fret - I just have no idea how it came about or how to get rid of it.  I suppose it's from my inconsistant cleaning.  Now that I think of it, it may be a keloid, but it doesn't have the characteristics of it...no puss, no pain, etc.

I'd supply ya'll with a picture, but, the position of it extra tricky, and I can't capture it correctly.  If I somehow manage to, I'll post it stat.

Any advice would be more than appreciated!
