Dear SW Rares writer,

Hi!

I'm looking forward to this exchange and reading what you've written for me. As long as you avoid my DNWs, I'll be happy.

In general, I like a wide range of fic genres, including darkfic that has a hopeful or happy ending. I don't need romance/shippiness to be the front-and-center of anything you write; I'm perfectly happy with it backgrounded. I've jotted down some ideas; feel free to ignore them if you already have an idea in mind. If you're curious, here's my 'why I love Star Wars' post and my Star Wars tag on Tumblr (it’s 90% Jedi-related). Also— you do NOT have to follow this, but I wanted to link it for reference in case it helps you— I have a list of things I consider canon.

DISLIKES

Do Not Wants:

• bees, wasps, and the like
• pandemics and disease
• major character death; suicidal self-sacrifice
• animal injury or death
• unrequested romantic/sexual relationships (background Anakin/Padmé is fine)
• character or relationship bashing
• explicit sex
• rape/noncon/dubcon; A/B/O; incest
• cheating/infidelity; unrequited love or attraction; pregnancy of any kind
• plot caused by miscommunication of the “someone sees something, makes bad assumptions, doesn’t talk about it to clear things up” sort
• time loops; crack
• different setting or mundane AUs
• character A is really character B (for example, Harry Potter is actually Voldemort)
• non-metaphorical demons or any sort of undead
• issue fic and unrequested identity headcanons; changing characteristics such as sex, gender, or race
• deconstructions of canon
• ambiguous endings and unhappy endings

Star Wars Do Not Wants:

• season 4 of Rebels, curing Kanan's blindness
• anything dealing with Mortis
• attachment equals love
• the Jedi Order as terrible or evil or in need of reformation AKA no Jedi, Jedi Council, or Jedi Code bashing
• Sith as neutral or good
• non-canonical falling to the Dark Side
• Legends canon (especially Shatterpoint, the Jedi Apprentice series, and anything by Karen Traviss (including the clones being Mandalorian))
• Tatooine slave culture; focus on clones

Please ignore the Sequel Trilogy, Solo, the Mandalorian, and anything Disney has done with the Original Trilogy characters (save for their appearances in Rebels and Rogue One).

LIKES

Fic Likes:

• I prefer General through Mature ratings for romantic/sexual things; all ratings are welcome for violence.
• first and third person POVs
• traditional fic styles; less traditional fic styles such as in-universe documents; fics that are a mix of traditional and nontraditional styles
• hurt/comfort of any type, ranging from light and fluffy to torture porn
• found family and family of choice
• redemption arcs (but not redemption equals death)
• canon divergence/fork-in-the-road AUs
• romance not being the only plot/subplot in the story
• beating impossible odds; victory snatched from the jaws of defeat
• slice of life, quiet moments
• communication, trust
• people showing they care through small actions and details; cuddling (platonic or not)
• complex characters, textual ghosts, and original characters
• happy or hopeful endings

Darkfic Likes:

• whump and hurt/comfort with an emphasis on the hurt (but I still need some comfort)
• being powerless/helpless
• captivity
• punishments
• restraints (either people doing it or actual restraints), especially if they’re to hold the victim still so something can be done to the victim
• needles
• torture
• involuntary medical experiments
• ruins and mazes

Star Wars Fic Likes:

• respect for Jedi culture and philosophy
• Jedi being awesome. Jedi life in the Temple. Jedi worldbuilding. Jedi being Jedi.
• lineage as family; Jedi Order as family
• canon divergent AUs set at any point in the Prequel Trilogy
• Order 66 AUs of almost any type: full-on prevention, happens differently or earlier or later, someone survives who doesn't in canon, etc. But I don’t want someone dying in the AU who lives in canon.
• lightsabers; starfighters (especially X-wings)

PROMPTS

Jedi Fallen Order:

Cal/Trilla

I have always loved post-Purge Jedi survival stories, so this game was right up my alley and it did not let me down. Cal is a sweetheart, persistent, and I love him to pieces. (If this comes up, my preference is for a green lightsaber, but blue is fine, too.) Trilla is fantastic; I love how she revels in being an Inquisitor even as she hates it. I like all of the game’s main characters.

There was absolutely chemistry between them and I would love to see it explored. I’m not terribly interested in fluff with these two, especially if Trilla is/remains an Inquisitor, and I don’t particularly care if it’s a short-term fling instead of something lasting.

~ An AU where Trilla survives and comes with the Mantis crew.
~ Cal’s conflicted feelings about his interest in Trilla.
~ Cal is captured and imprisoned in Fortress Inquisitorious. His interest in Trilla is just one more torture for him to survive.


Prequels:

Bail/Breha/Obi-Wan

I’m not sure what to say here save that I deeply appreciate that all three of them are sincerely good people, ones forced into situations where they may or may not have the power to change things or are forced to work within a hated system in order to create the space for good/rebellion. Or, in Obi-Wan’s case, to step back and let others carry on the fight without him. And yet, I’m wondering a bit about how far Bail and Breha are willing to go in order to take care of someone they love. Sharp edges and problems adjusting (to the Empire, to surviving genocide, to the relationship) are welcome.

~ Obi-Wan is captured, at any point in his adult life.
~ Something set after Order 66, whether in an AU where the Lars can’t or won’t take Luke or a minor timeline alteration of a few days or another scenario entirely (AU or not).
~ Hiding in plain (or not so plain) sight on Alderaan; problems resulting from necessarily constrained movements.


Depa/Mon Mothma

Depa is my favorite minor character and I have always loved Mon Mothma. So why not see what happens? I would love an established romantic asexual relationship with these two.

~ Something quiet during the Clone Wars.
~ Mon Mothma reads Depa into the pre-Empire/ burgeoning rebellion senatorial meetings.
~ Depa and Caleb both live and take refuge in Mon Mothma’s residence on Chandrila.

Original Characters:

Jedi Survivor Who Joins The Rebellion/Separatist Who Also Joins The Rebellion

My preference is for a human female Jedi, but the Separatist’s sex and gender is up to you.

I love OCs in fanfic; I love Jedi survivors; and I love complicated dynamics. This one? Survivor guilt, guilt about unwittingly setting the stage for the Empire, the war crimes of the Separatists, having been on opposite sides of the Clone War and now on the same side against the Empire, the in-universe propaganda coloring things; so many political and cultural difficulties.

~ the Jedi accepting “punishment” due to guilt, especially if they're both aware of how messed up it is
