Sanjay Mudnaney shared thisThe most dangerous place to be in 2026 is good at something AI can now do cheaper. I was in a conversation with a founder of content writing company recently. Successful. Profitable. Built over years. Clients are asking.. are you using AI? Some are cutting budgets. Some are switching vendors using AI or taking the work in-house. The ones still with them.. won’t be for long if nothing changes. These founders know it. But here is what struck me most. It wasn’t the fear of losing business. It was something quieter. “The soul of the work is gone.” That’s what she said. These are not struggling businesses. Profitable. Respected. Relationships built over decades. But the craft they built their identity around.. Is being questioned at its foundation. Not just content writers. I see it in advertising agencies. Creative studios. Design firms. Brand consultants. An entire ecosystem of creative businesses.. Built on human imagination, judgment, taste.. Now being asked to justify their existence against a tool that works at midnight and doesn’t bill by the hour. And the clients have boards. Their stakeholders include investors. Their investors have one question.. Where are the AI cost savings? Soul doesn’t show up on a balance sheet. Humanness is not a line item anyone is protecting. So here is my honest answer to that founder and to any founder struggling with this. If your clients can replace you with AI and not feel the difference.. You were doing the thing anyone could do. The market is not being cruel. It’s being honest. But if that stings.. It means there is something in you that was never fully in the work. Ask yourself this. What have I always known that no brief ever asked for? What have I always seen that the client never noticed? What have I always felt about this work that never made it into the output? That’s where you live now. Not in the execution. In the insight that makes the execution matter. The ones who built a factory will struggle. Even if it was a beautiful creative factory. The ones who built a practice.. A point of view.. A body of work that could only have come from them.. They will be fine. The soul of the work was never in the content. It was in the person who knew what the content was really trying to do. That person cannot be prompted. Are you that person? Or have you been running a factory and calling it a craft?

Sanjay Mudnaney shared thisYesterday, I sat in a room full of history. It was the 75th birthday celebration of Ashank Desai. Co-founder of Mastek. Founding member of NASSCOM. My first boss. A man I have known for over 25 years and continue to work alongside as a trustee and board member at the Mastek Foundation. And as I sat there, I did not just see a birthday. I saw a movement being celebrated. The industry that made India a global brand. The Indian software industry did not happen by accident. It was built by people who believed before the world did. Who competed fiercely with each other by day and collaborated just as fiercely when India needed a unified voice. In 1988, a group of software entrepreneurs gathered in Delhi. Ashank Desai. Harish Mehta. K.V. Ramani. Saurabh Srivastava. Nandan Nilekani. They were building companies. They were also building a country’s future. NASSCOM was born not out of comfort but out of conviction. Narayan Murthy joined this movement soon after, and together they gave Indian IT its most enduring voice. “Saathi haath badhana.” That spirit became the soul of Indian IT. What I witnessed up close. I have been privileged to see this from the inside. The late nights. The early bets. The boardrooms where people argued hard and then stood together harder. The quiet courage it took to walk into a global market and say: India belongs here. These were not just first generation entrepreneurs of a different kind. They were institution builders. They earned recognition and respect across 24 countries not through marketing but through relentless delivery, through trust built one client at a time. From those early rooms in Delhi to a $350 billion industry today. That is not a statistic. That is a story that inspires the future generations. What the next generation must remember. The lesson this movement leaves behind is not about technology. It is about the rare combination of individual ambition and collective purpose. These leaders competed. And they collaborated. They understood that a rising tide lifts every boat. In a world that increasingly rewards noise, this story is a reminder that the deepest legacies are built quietly, with integrity, over decades. At the funeral a few will gather and discuss their life , the weather, once they walk out you will be forgotten, life has to carry on. A few loved ones will cry for a few days , they will miss you , they will feel a gap , and will grieve, some for a few days , some longer , some forever. But life will carry on , the name on your bank account , your property will be removed , things you owned your clothes , will be given away. The very same place you were encouraged to put hours of work every week , stay away from loved ones on the weekends will find a replacement in a few days. What will remain is your photo on the wall at your home. This is the story of every one. We accumulate stuff as if we will own if forever , we chase fame and recognition, our designation becomes our identity. Yet , we are but travelers here, for a momentary visit , we have to return back home, everything is left behind. Travel light, gather experiences , watch that sunset, look into the eyes of your loved one, spend time with your children , touch lives you can, give while you can. Remember all that will remain is your picture on the wall.

Sanjay Mudnaney shared thisNetworking is dead. Relationship building is not. And most people confuse the two. Networking is the exchange of cards at an event. A sales pitch in your LinkedIn inbox at 9am on a Monday. A connection request with no context and a pitch in the follow-up. That is not a relationship. That is a transaction dressed up as one. I speak to a lot of salespeople.. particularly in the B2B space. The most common question I hear: “Clients just don’t respond.” So let’s sit in the client’s shoes for a moment. The CXO you are trying to reach has an inbox overflowing with sales requests. LinkedIn is no different. Connection request. Pitch. Follow-up. Reminder. Another follow-up. They have seen it all. They delete it all. Sending one more connection request with a sales pitch is not going to move the needle. So what will? Stop selling. Start showing up. Share something that makes them think. Comment on their content genuinely. Send an article with no ask attached. Congratulate them on something real. Introduce them to someone they should know. Do this consistently. With no agenda. For weeks. For months. One day they will notice. And when you do get that moment of attention.. Don’t pitch. Ask. What is keeping them up at night? What is the one problem they have not been able to solve? What does success look like for them this year? Understand their pain genuinely before you offer anything. The best salespeople I have known were not great talkers. They were great listeners. They made the client feel heard before they ever made a proposal. That is the difference between a vendor and a trusted partner. Not because you pitched well. Because you were present without wanting anything. That is when the inbox opens. A relationship is different from the very beginning. It starts with “I see you.” Not “I need something from you.” Let me give you a example from my own life. I met Pravin Kulkarni.. head of marketing at Parle.. when I was building Mnet, India’s first integrated marketing company with over 120 physical branches. We didn’t transact. We connected. That relationship gave me one of the most iconic projects of my career.. Shaktiman in Chennai. It became a case study. And Pravin and I have stayed friends till date. This came from a place “I wa t to see you win”. Not a target. Not a funnel. Not a follow-up sequence. A genuine human moment. “I see you.” When I used to train sales teams I would always share one line. “All things being equal.. people buy from friends. All things not being so equal.. people still buy from friends.” That line is 30 years old. It has never stopped being true. Your network is not your follower count. It is not your connections list. It is the people who will pick up the phone when you call. The people who trust you before you ask. Build relationships. Quietly. Consistently. Without an agenda. They will show up for you when it matters most. #sales #marketing #relationships

Early in my career I was fired from my first sales job. I didn’t look for someone to blame. I decided to master sales. Read every book I could find. Bought audio training tapes. Attended every workshop I could afford. Next job.. I turned around an entire business unit. Trained my sales team. Got promoted to head marketing and sales. Created my own sales training program. Trained hundreds of salespeople across the country. All of it came from one decision after one failure. To invest in myself. Today I spend a substantial amount every month on subscriptions, tools, and platforms. Someone recently asked me: “How much should we be spending on AI tools?” I said: don’t think of it as spending first. When you invest in yourself.. the returns compound over time. And it is not always money. Here is what I invest in and would recommend. 1. Invest time in learning something new every day 2. Read books that stretch your thinking 3. Protect your ‘me’ time.. fiercely 4. Build your network before you need it 5. Find a mentor who helps you play to your potential 6. Join cohorts that are building.. not just talking 7. Invest in your health.. it is your real capital 8. Invest in tools that expand your creative boundaries Financial advisors missed this most important point. Invest in you first. Income follows. You are the most important project you have. P.S. I was fired from my first sales job. Instead of blaming the world I bought training tapes that cost me a month’s salary. That investment paid back a thousand times over.. in ways no mutual fund ever could. I share what I practice. And what has helped me.

Growth does not protect you. Revenue does not protect you. Loyalty does not protect you. The question being asked in every boardroom today is not “can we afford to keep these people.” It is “do we still need these people.” That is a fundamentally different question. And it deserves a fundamentally different response from every professional sitting in a job today. Here is what I have learned from 37 years of watching careers, building brands, and starting over more than once. The only career security that exists is the security you build inside yourself. Not your title. Not your employer. Not your tenure. Your ability to solve a problem no AI can replicate. Your ability to build trust no algorithm can manufacture. Your ability to tell a story, hold a room, read a human being. LinkedIn is cutting engineers and marketers. They are not cutting judgment. They are not cutting wisdom. They are not cutting the person who can walk into an uncertain room and make sense of it. That person is you. But only if you are actively building that version of yourself. Reinventing your career for the future of work is not a one-time event. It is a daily practice. The companies have already started their restructuring. Have you started yours? Sanjay Mudnaney shared this20 minutes. 4 rounds of the same questions. A message stating that someone would reply within 3 to 5 business days. The brand had my money for 2 years. I had recommended them to others. And in those 20 minutes, something shifted. Nobody was home. Amazon buries its support under layers of automation. Ultrahuman put me through 3 hardware replacements and a maze of AI that eventually just went cold. These are not isolated incidents. They are a pattern. 9 in 10 consumers say removing access to human support reduces their loyalty to a brand. But the bot is just the beginning of what I want every founder to think about. During Cyber Week 2025, the volume of tasks completed by AI agents on behalf of shoppers jumped 84% on Black Friday alone compared to the year before. That is not a trend. That is a transition. We are moving toward a world where your customer has their own AI agent. It will not type into your chatbot. It will talk directly to your brand's AI agent. 2 machines. No human on either side. In that world, what does your brand actually stand for? The warmth, the instinct, the culture that made someone go the extra mile. All of it will have to be encoded into the systems you are building right now. If those values were real, they would survive translation. In the race for getting on the AI bandwagon the human has been pushed out almost completely. A customers first touch point is now a AI enabled chatbot. Let me share my experience of Ultrahuman smart ring. I am a champion for health tech. From smart ring to Apple Watch to CGM , to Muse for meditation and brain wave tracking I use it all. I was a strong advocate for Ultrahuman for the AI sitting in the software. But when it comes to support I see it completely broken. 3rd ring replacement, All due to battery issues. Now that is yet ok hardware can fail but three times ? That is a small part of the problem, the bigger story is the AI enabled support failure.. I would just request the senior leadership in the organisation to just try it out, you cannot reach a human, each time you log in you are asked similar questions, if it finally gets you to a human on the other side of chat , you keep waiting! every replacement is finally a months wait ! Now imagine the frustration of a customer who wants a health tracker to build healthy habits. I was in the verge of giving up , and I did share this feedback on their LinkedIn, I get a call immediately, we will resolve your issue , send you a replacement immediately, please take down the comment.. I do that .. it’s a mistake.. no trace all gone cold , call the number that was shared, no answer .. finally decide to share it here. I am sharing this not just for Ultrahuman but for every company that thinks AI is that silver bullet and taking out humans to save costs will be smart. May look smart initially , markets may reward you. But the brand damage is immense. It’s not just Ultrahuman. Amazon that was known for its human connection on service hides the support deep inside and runs similarly through layers of AI. And every such incident and frustrating experience like I have shared would impact brand reputation. I may again get a call , take down this post but is that the solution ? Why not just sit in the chair of a frustrated customer and think system design backwards. Sooner or later all brands will get this .. sharing the screen shot of how my tracker is doing .. And somewhere in this city, right now, a 28 year old startup founder is staring at his laptop at midnight feeling exactly the same thing. A 45 year old executive just got off her fourth Zoom call and has nobody to tell how tired she is. A father sits at a dinner table with his family, phones everywhere, and feels invisible. Loneliness does not have an age. It has an epidemic. We are living through the greatest belonging crisis in human history. Wars fracturing nations. Jobs disappearing overnight. Parents aging alone. Children in cities their parents cannot find on a map. Nuclear families so nuclear they have split into atoms. Every traditional container of belonging is cracking. Family. Neighborhood. Religion. Workplace. All thinning out at exactly the same time. And precisely at this moment, the last reliably human touchpoint we had, the voice that could hear your frustration and say I understand, let me help, has also been replaced. We called it efficiency. We got efficiency. And a loneliness epidemic so vast we do not have language for it yet. I have been running communities for three years. I watch people arrive for the content and stay for the connection. Strangers becoming support systems. A founder in Pune finding courage because someone in Kolkata said me too. The hunger is not growing. It is exploding. And the world keeps building smarter chatbots. Here is what I have come to believe. Belonging is the next great business frontier. Not because it is a trend. Because it is a civilizational hunger that nothing is currently feeding at scale. The brands that win the next decade will not have the best AI. They will make you feel least alone. The communities that scale will not be the biggest. They will be the ones where somebody knows your name. This is not soft. This is not feel good. This is the most urgent and underserved human need of our times. And it is a business waiting to be built. With a heart. She is waiting. So is the 28 year old. So are you. A woman running the Sarayu Animal Welfare Society in Meerut recently uncovered exactly this. While on a routine dog rescue, she heard faint sounds from a nearby shop. What she found when she investigated was deeply disturbing: newborn calves crammed into a 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸, 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Their only crime? 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲. They can't produce milk. So to the dairy industry, they have 𝗻𝗼 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲. This wasn't an exception. This is the rule. Across dairies, male calves are routinely abandoned on roads, sold off, or left in conditions like these, until they die. ------------------- This is why Acharya Prashant says 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲. But at 90 years old, after having lived through nearly every season of life, I can tell you this: The real meaning of a life partner reveals itself during the hardest years. In the final two and a half years before my wife passed away during COVID, she slipped into what doctors called a waking coma. Her eyes were open. But the person I had spent my life with was slowly disappearing in front of me. For two and a half years, life became medicines, hospital visits, feeding schedules, cleaning, sleepless nights, uncertainty, and silent prayers. There were no celebrations. No vacations. Just responsibility. Commitment. Presence. And strangely, that period taught me more about love than all the happy years before it. Because marriage is not truly tested during comfort. It is tested when exhaustion enters the house. When illness arrives uninvited. When life becomes unfair for years at a time. That is when the meaning of the words “life partner” becomes real. A partner is the person who stays. Who serves. Who sacrifices quietly. Who carries your dignity when you no longer can. Modern life often teaches people to stay only while things feel easy. But real love has very little to do with convenience. Real love is duty with tenderness. Responsibility with compassion. Patience without applause. And then one day, after decades of hearing another person breathe beside you, you suddenly find yourself alone. That loneliness is difficult to explain. People visit. Phones ring. Life outside continues normally. But inside the house, silence changes shape. Y ou realize how many parts of your life were held together by another human being’s invisible presence. At this age, I have understood something deeply: A good marriage is not built on perfection. It is built on endurance, forgiveness, respect, and the quiet decision to keep showing up for each other when life becomes heavy. The world today moves very fast. People replace things quickly. Relationships included. But after 90 years, I believe one of the greatest achievements in human life is still this: To stand beside another human being faithfully through health, illness, strength, weakness, joy, grief, youth, and old age. And when they are finally gone, to still carry their love forward with dignity. That is not weakness. That is one of the strongest things a human being can do.

The honest answer is: loneliness does not always arrive as sadness. Sometimes it arrives as silence. A second cup of tea no longer needed. A chair that stays empty. Nobody asking whether you took your medicines. Nobody saying “goodnight.” After living with someone for decades, their absence does not only leave the room. It changes the rhythm of your day. But age teaches you something important: You cannot fight reality forever. What has passed has passed. Tomorrow has not arrived. Today is the only 24 hours I truly have. So I protect my day carefully. Every morning, I read two newspapers. I watch world news closely. I go for walks. I do yoga and meditation. I enjoy my cricket. I invest in my physical and mental health like it is my last remaining fortune. Not because I am trying to escape mortality. At 90, I am fully aware of it. I simply understand something many people discover too late: Life becomes lighter when you stop dragging yesterday into today. The world around us is full of noise. Opinions. Provocations. Arguments. Free advice. Endless outrage. If you react to everything, you will slowly lose your inner peace. One of the greatest powers human beings still possess is the ability to choose their response. Not every insult deserves your energy. Not every debate deserves your participation. Not every piece of bad news deserves permanent residence inside your mind. Peace is not something the world gives you. It is something you protect. At this age, I no longer waste time asking: “How long will I live?” I ask: “How deeply can I live the day I have been given?” And strangely, that mindset makes loneliness softer. Because when you fully enter the present moment, life still has beauty left to offer. A sunrise. A good book. The sound of rain. Children laughing outside. India winning a cricket match. A calm breath during meditation. Small things begin feeling enormous again. Perhaps that is the final wisdom old age teaches: You do not conquer loneliness by filling every empty space. You conquer it by learning how to peacefully sit beside yourself.
