The room was packed with leaders and visionaries from leading BFSI companies in Mumbai. Here’s what made Edition 1 unforgettable: 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗙𝗦𝗜 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 : Our Founder & CEO Deepak Bhagchandani live-unveiled our Autonomous AI features specifically designed for enabling BFSI Relationship Managers to operate and truly build relationships at scale. Deepak Bhagchandani reposted thisDeepak Bhagchandani reposted thisIt’s not often that you get invited into the Meta office And yet today was different while we crystal-gazed into the world of AI and yet went through the big opportunities with WhatsApp as a platform that’s the default communication tool for over 800 million active users of this app Beautifully curated by the WhatsApp for #marketing team and DoubleTick the discussions revolved around how WhatsApp is the conversational engine not just person to person but it’s becoming the fastest 1:1 way that #brands are taking to it, and clearly in the services industry like BFSI, travel and more it’s actually the most efficient way that’s truly doing the job of consumer engagement Deepak Bhagchandani had a great chat with a #digitaltransformation expert Ex-HDFC Bank Gautam Anand who highlighted how WhatsApp is clearly a Bank Relationship Manager’s best friend and how it’s easily possible to do more across this channel across all the AI intervention coming through WhatsApp, and it’s where CRM is getting migrated to What was fascinating to see is that it’s not usually the digital first brands but ones like AU SMALL FINANCE BANK and Piramal Finance that have been able to make this a part of the overall CRM process and even see a category like lending see great efficiency using tech that Double Tick has built across AI and some interesting facts put out by Shivam Mittal What got me startled : ✅ 65% of customers have no direct human relationship with say a bank and thus almost every reason to get into AI sooner than before So while for a lot of consumers #brands coming into WhatsApp, it could be that irritation a web-banner could do on a website years ago and hence engagement rates are low, it’s clearly some categories like BFSI where it’s making the consumer a happier one and playing a very helpful role in the overall funnel and lifestage marketing to a consumer Truly making the best use of our conversations, voice, languages : this is being your customers best friend if done well Thanks to teams DoubleTick Surender Sharma for having some of us and experiencing the future of AI and WhatsApp It’s sessions like these that make you realise what happens in India with WhatsApp is not happening in the most evolved digital country in the world

Deepak Bhagchandani reposted thisDeepak Bhagchandani reposted thisFor a long time, I thought we had a lead quality problem. Good traffic. Decent inquiries. Still, conversions weren’t where they should’ve been. When we looked closer, the issue was simple. Most leads didn’t need another deck or landing page. They had one small doubt. And what did we do? Sent them to a form. Promised a callback. Replied hours later. By then, the moment was gone. Not because they weren’t interested but because we broke the flow. People don’t want to “raise a request” when they’re already convinced. They just want to talk. So we tried 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗔𝗱𝘀 (CTWA) by DoubleTick Nothing fancy. Just one change: Submit → Chat. Conversations started faster. Questions got answered in real time. Decisions happened naturally. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝟰𝟲%. A special mention to my guiding lights- Deepak Bhagchandani and Rhitam Dutta, I’m making a list of things I’m learning from you. :) Lastly, a big thanks to Deepak for trusting me, and my professors at XLRI Delhi-NCR for shaping me to become a better individual. Deepak Bhagchandani liked thisDeepak Bhagchandani liked thisWe made it to Shark Tank India Season 5. Mayank and I filmed & pitched University Living to the sharks in the tank. Went through → shortlisting → final rounds → a 45-60 minute pitch in front of sharks like Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, Ritesh Agarwal, Kunal Bahl. When the 5-years Shark Tank anniversary teaser dropped & people spotted us in it...team, our family, people who've followed University Living for years - the excitement was something else. Congratulatory messages pouring in. And we'll be honest, we didn't fully understand what we were signing up for until we were standing in that room. Nearly an hour of back & forth. Every number, every assumption, every decision we've made over 10 years - on the table. But… our episode didn't air. And what I keep thinking about isn't that. It's what that room did to me as a founder. We didn't go for the deal. We didn't go for the publicity. We went for the experience. Walking into that room, there's a moment where everything you've built is suddenly right there, out in the open. We asked for ₹4 Cr at a ₹400 Cr valuation. The moment I put that number on the table, Sharks just went, "What?" And then the room came at us, "How do you justify ₹400 Cr?" We held our ground. They heard it. But they're running a reality show - getting challenged is the point. We knew that going in. What I didn't fully anticipate was what that pressure surfaces. There's a version of you that exists in your own head - where you know your business, you know your numbers, you know why you made every call you made. And then there's the version that has to say all of it out loud, under pressure, to people who have seen thousands of businesses & will not let anything slide. Those two versions are not always the same person. That gap - that's what Shark Tank gives you. And it's uncomfortable. And it's exactly what you need. That’s where the real value was for me. Great learnings, great energy, & an experience I wouldn’t trade. And somewhere in the middle of all of this, we were interacting with founders who were 14, already building, already thinking. At 40, it leaves you with a very simple, very clear thought that there’s still a lot more to be done, a lot more energy that needs to go in, & a long way to take University Living to where we truly want to take it. Grateful to the entire Shark Tank India team & Sony LIV team. What they build behind the scenes is extraordinary. If you get a chance to go - please go. Not for the cameras even not for that cheque but for the overall experience. If this resonates, share it with a founder who needs to hear it. Save this if you're thinking about applying to Shark Tank someday. And if you know someone who's already building - send this to them. Deepak Bhagchandani liked thisDeepak Bhagchandani liked thisThe photo on the left was on the day I closed a 5.4M Euro deal with Exxonmobile in their Jurong Island office in Singapore. I was also 30years old on that day weighing 126Kgs. I was killing it as an enterprise rep but also killing myself with lack of habits. Never had any vice per say except 6 coffees a day eat whatever and dont move. Day before i turned 40 and the photo on the right was taken as part of a fun shoot in which my friend wanted me to be the subject earlier this year just before I turned 40. Arguably in the best shape of my life. I can tell you i have seen both the spectrum and I will pick the guy in the right any day. I started prioritizing health and sleep and if that means I will have to earn a little lesser so be it. I am very driven when it comes to my career don't get me wrong but I know where it stays in form of priorities. I do not take frequent super late night calls because that means, i will have to skip my gym the next day morning. I do not hangout too late in the night during office social because, I prioritize my sleep. And honestly people just get it. We dont live in a era anymore where people make fun if you leave early. These days taking pride looks a little different for me. I am up 4 am most days (blame my dog but honestly helps a lot if you are covering APAC as a region). I hit the gym 5 days a week and I ride cycle three to four times a week and jiujitsu twice a week. If i do not travel I cook my food and eat everyday. And i can tell you I am 100 times more sharper when it comes to my thinking compared to how it was 10 years ago. Sales is high energy demanding job and having the structure in place just makes it that much easier. So if you end up working in my team, you will end up becoming healthier for sure. It will be in your IDP :) And that by itself is a huge success. Being in sales is addictive. Try being in the fittest shape of your life and being in sales - That is a whole new level all together. So come join us - Alston Nadar, Navdeep Arora and Hugo Koh are constantly looking for great talents and they never stop talking to new talents. Reach out. You will have a successful career and an incredible health - its possible. It need not be either or. #lifeatmongo

The PhonePe IPO Reality Check Nobody Wants to Talk About Everyone’s busy hyping the IPO of PhonePe, but let’s pause and ask a brutal question: Is this a growth story… or an exit story? Backed by Walmart, the company is reportedly targeting a $9–10.5B valuation, notably lower than its previous $12B private valuation. That’s not just “market conditions”… that’s a reality correction. Even more interesting? This IPO is 100% Offer For Sale, meaning: 👉 No fresh capital for the company 👉 Early investors like Tiger Global and Microsoft are heading for the exit 👉 Retail investors might just be the liquidity event Let that sink in. Yes, PhonePe dominates UPI, but here’s the uncomfortable truth: 💸 Payments in India are mostly zero-margin 📉 Despite scale, profitability is still under pressure ⚠️ Monetisation remains the biggest unanswered question () And history has not been kind… Remember Paytm? Massive IPO. Massive hype. Then… reality. Now ask yourself 👇 Are we investing in: A) India’s fintech future B) Or someone else’s past gains Because when insiders sell, and no new money comes in, it’s not funding growth… It’s transferring risk. Can you tell which app is which? India’s top 3 quick commerce apps have reached peak UX convergence today. If you stripped away the logos, you could not tell them apart. Why is this happening? Call it Product Darwinism. They have all evolved toward the same "optimal" form because they are solving the exact same problem for the exact same user. There’s already parity on delivery speed, price and inventory. What’s left to optimize is the ordering. Reduce cognitive load. Eliminate hesitation. Make the path to checkout feel automatic. The apps have A/B tested their way to the same local maximum and landed on the same visual hierarchy. We talk about moats all the time. But when the interface becomes the product and every interface looks identical, the real brand differentiation must happen beyond the screen. It shifts to something harder to copy, like trust, reliability, or experience.
