So, tonight the next episode of 9-1-1 Lone Star is going to air. I'll probably look for recaps as soon as I wake up tomorrow morning before I can watch the episode either tomorrow night or on Thursday. I've got a couple of thoughts though...
So, TK and Carlos will meet up with Iris tonight. There's been a short clip of it released on Instagram. It's kind cute and a bit funny the way TK's bad luck when it comes to getting injured is brought up. Although, I feel as if I missed something when TK mentioned three comas. I checked the fandom wiki and it only has the two I could remember. I guess the third one could have been before he moved to Austin. I didn't quite catch that part of the video.
I want Iris to sign those papers after all of her questions, but I'm also not expecting it. Going by how much drama 9-1-1 Lone Star loves to employ - especially when it comes to TK and Carlos - it seems like too easy a thing. However, considering another short clip shown where Owen and Andrea decide that something in the wedding planning (the seating chart?) doesn't contain enough drama (as part of season 4 promo on Instagram), I'm itching to write a story where TK goes to Andrea to convince her that they've had more than enough drama to last a live time and with his luck, there'll probably be more in the future and "could you maybe find it in yourself to let Carlos have something that's not steeped in some kind of drama?" Goodness knows, I doubt that Owen "I need to slay dragons" Strand is going to try and tone down drama.
Another reason I'm doubtful is that the synopsis for the third episode speaks of Carlos finding himself in trouble while looking for a missing friend. Considering that the only friends of his that aren't part of the 126 that we've been introduced to are Iris and Michelle Blake? I have a strong feeling that it's going to be Iris since Michelle's supposed to be out of the country.
A part of me has been thinking about why Carlos stayed away from Iris after she was found and if it was for the entire time or just part of the time. I mean, aside from all the things happening in Carlos' life in that time, Iris was dealing with her own issues and - being entirely unfamiliar with therapy and schizophrenia - it might have been decided to keep the number of people outside of her treatment down to the necessary ones. She might have reacted negatively to Carlos for a variety of reasons from him being male, a cop or a pending divorce (she was dating Dustin after all before she disappeared). Clearly, Carlos had had some updates though. At least initially. I had the feeling that Carlos hadn't expected Iris to be working there, but rather to find her as someone who's there as a patient. Is this lack of communication solely because he didn't reach out or because Michelle didn't reach out to him. Not sure what kind of communication was available to Iris (does she know his phone number?) in that regard. Not to mention, Carlos had tried to reach out to Michelle several times - did that happen in just a couple of days or less or did that happen over several weeks or even longer?
Either way, there's a lot of open questions. I kind of want to like Iris as I want Carlos to have more friends outside of the 126. However, considering the current state of their friendship - I'm not sure if I could forgive her standing in the way to my happiness. Being hesitant to give your blessing for your best friend to someone you don't know isn't really a bad thing. There might be worrying things going on. However, TK isn't someone that Carlos has just met and Carlos and Iris have been out of touch for years. She knows who Carlos used to be, not who he is now. Then again, Carlos is very forgiving and far too easily takes far too much blame on himself for things outside of his control.
As is obvious, there's a lot of feelings going on. I really want them to have some time where things aren't going pear shaped. I guess that's not as spectacular for a drama show, but - they can be there as support for the other characters. I mean, I'd love to meet Marjan's family and whatever their expectations might be for her future. I'd love to learn more about Nancy's story or find out more about Mateo and his family. I'd love to see Paul and his foray into dating. In that vein, I'm very much looking forward to how Tommy handles her new love interest who happens to be a new pastor at her church. And I really want more time with Judd, Grace and Charlie.
I'm not too keen on Owen's story line. Simply because every time he's veered into police work, things ended badly. I'd much rather get a story about him exploring more about his father's life after the divorce. That is to say, how he handles having a half brother and stepmother and all the implications of it. I'd also like to know if TK knows about them. Because, the venue he fell in love with seats quite a lot of people. Surely that's not just the 126 and Carlos' family. Speaking of wedding guests, are we going to meet Enzo? Because I can't imagine TK not wanting his baby brother there.
Another thought with all of that speculation, episode 4 is going to air on Valentine's Day and a part of me thinks that we might get the wedding in that episode. It would very much be a very neat scheduling. However, Carlos' divorce has to be settled by then. Considering that he needs to be divorced for a month? I wouldn't want it to happen in the episode right before that. Who knows, maybe Iris does sign it and then goes missing afterwards. They haven't revealed any best men yet - maybe Carlos would want to ask Iris. I mean, they're friends, he wouldn't just go looking for her if she went missing again because he needs her to sign those divorce papers.
Oh well, the waiting time for the next episode is nearly over. And I've rambled and been all over the place with my thoughts. I'm not going to try and get it in some kind of order. I tend to mess it up even worse whenever I do...
