I debated a bit if I wanted to post this here or in my community [community profile] love_sacrificed. It's more about what I'm working on instead of something I'm ready to post a chapter for, which makes me say here. However, they're fanfiction so my community would be a good fit. In the end I decided - as I'm mostly going to write a short summary and progress information, here would be a better place like I had initially intended to do :)

These are stories I'm currently working on and hope to push further in February. Hopefully create a bit of accountability. The first four I declared "priority" via my folder sorting in a bid to reduce the number of files I look at when deciding what to work on next. The rest are recently typed up stories or stories I still need to type up and ultimately decide on if they're something for "later" or if they're something to pursue further right now.

I currently seem to write most productively (on an idea level - some of it is written story, some of it are just notes of stuff that I couldn't be bothered to write in full) and while I like how the idea flows in that moment, I *hate* having to type them up.

#1 - Highlander - "joemethos - don finds out about methos"

Current Wordcount: 10,970
Current Pages: 20

This starts before the episode Methos and even starts prior to MacLeod finding out about the watchers. I'm not sure if it always was supposed to be Don finding out about Methos or if it started as a Joe/Methos "We keep having one night stands and bad morning afters" story. At one point Methos is so distracted that Don startles him and he cuts himself, badly.

At one point, focused on the Joe/Methos part, I suddenly realised - what is the point of Don finding out if we soon enough reach the point where he dies in the show? Not much happened in between so why is it in there? So I went back and expanded it. And I have fun doing it now and then.

The main part is still the Joe/Methos arc, but it will keep going back to the fact that Don knew even after he died. I'm wondering if I should split it into two stories though - one focusing on the friendship between Don and Methos and the other going deeper into the Joe/Methos thing.

The first four parts/chapters are fully written although I highlighted some parts for checking what I've written. I've been tempted to post the first and maybe the second part before, but I'm not too happy with the way it's split up. Namely the first part being a 700-800 words and the second being about 3500. However, those splits are content wise along the lines of events. I'm not sure if I should expand the first part or not, because I don't think it really needs more...
Not sure if I had intended for it to be a story where Don Salzer.

I hope to get this to a point where I actually start posting things. It also means that I'll have to rewatch the Methos episodes again and the story lines where Joe is in conflict with the watchers at least (Darius' death and the subsequent problems within the watchers it reveals that keep popping up). On the other hand, I think I got a bit lost in adding scenes for the friendship between Don and Methos because I have so much fun with it and even though it has a defined end with Don's death on the show, I somehow don't seem to find an end.

#2 - Highlander/MASH - "hl mash - immortal hawkeye post war"

Current Wordcount: ~2,200
Current Pages: 5

I think this one started with a couple of Highlander/MASH crossovers I'd seen over the place but that never quite had what I wanted. Namely Methos. Somehow being drafted into the madness that is the Korea war. Well, this story still isn't that particular brand of madness.

Instead, it starts some time after the war with Hawkeye settled back into his own place and struggling to deal with what he went through and not being able to shake the alcohol as easily as he had thought he would once he was back home.

Into that mess, Methos (as a new teacher at the local school for the year) drops in and realises that Hawkeye is actually immortal. It covers Methos trying to convince Hawkeye about his new state of existence and them falling into some kind of relationship - although not really with strings attached outside of the student/teacher part. Oh yeah - and a doctor as convinced of being a healer having to accept that he'll have kill in order to live? How fun is that?

Funny thing, I have notes for a sequel taking place during Minutes to Midnight when Joe gets shot and a question mark about it being a (one sided) Joe/Methos thing... guess I'm stuck on one big pairing when it comes Highlander right now.

I think what I'm struggling with most is some of the conversation trying to figure out some word choices (am I too current with them?) and if topics really would have been plausible back then (drunk driving anyone?)

I also probably need to watch some more MASH again as I really want to have some good bantering between Methos and Hawkeye.

This story has a lot of little notes for things I should expand on. It's so frustrating because it means I haven't a long enough part put together to post any of it and I really want it out there because I'm very much in love with the idea.

#3 - Criminal Minds/Highlander - "cm hl - methosspencer - immortals are public knowledge"

Current Wordcount: ~3,800
Current Pages: 9

It starts with an introduction on how people found out about immortals (a remorseful scientist makes it all public to put a stop to government sanctioned testing) and within a couple of years (I have it highlight because all of a sudden it doesn't appear to be long enough...) people reached the point that all those laws also apply to immortal. Fancy that...

Methos, still as Adam Pierson but clearly pushing his age beyond what he looks, settled in DC to teach there and at one point runs into Spencer Reid and they get talking with Methos interested in more, but willing to take friendship if that's all Spencer is interested in.

And as things happen with Criminal Minds, eventually there's a case. A case that has inspired at least one other story (namely the next one in the list) simply because I adore the idea of it. Namely, someone's leaving notes in a variety of languages that all boil down to dedications to Death. As in, dedications written by Kronos in the hopes of enticing Methos back into the fold. Only Kronos is dead of course. Guess he has a successor somewhere? Naturally, Methos is drawn into the case through his language skill (some are rather rare) and now has to decide if he should run far away from any kind of suspicion or stick around to help Spencer...

Plus a slow burn relationship between Spencer and Methos starting after the case which would probably only be hinted at before it ended.

So far this is mostly a mess of unconnected or semi-connected scenes and a lot of notes about who committed those crimes, but not about how they figure it out.

It needs to become more of a cohesive story and I really need to decide if I want to pursue this version of the case or the other one. Becase unless the case becomes a small sideline, it doesn't make much sense to have two stories with such a specific case. I toy with plots in such ways to try and figure out what works best, but in this case I ended up with two versions that I liked.

#4 - Criminal Minds/Highlander- "cm hl - (past) joemethos - methos and spencer become friends"

Current Wordcount: ~2,700
Current Pages: 6

This starts with Methos building up a new life in DC as a psychologist/neurologist (with a minor in linguistics) treating Spencer (post Maeve) while also teaching (and ending up with Spencer as a kind of student on that front) after a fight with Joe after a drunken one night stand years after their relationship ended with some serious accusations from Joe.

Spencer and Methos become friends and into that the revelation of immortals happens (in a slightly different way to the above story). The two talk about it without Methos revealing that he is immortal.

And the same case pops up only with Methos brought in as a specialist for a consult about his psychology knowledge as an outsiders point of view.

The case is pretty much the same as the one in story #3, but has more about the initial information exchange noted down. Notable difference is that where Methos revealed his immortality first to Spencer before consulting in #3, he keeps it secret in this one. However, Rossi and Spencer later on confront him as they did notice he kept something back. That later happens after a drunk Methos had called Joe for information (and instead had another fight).

This more or less ends with Joe searching out Methos and the possibility of them getting back together between them

Like #3 this is more or less bare bones and needs a lot of filling in. And again a decision about which one to pursue or if I can make the case take a minor role in one of them to make them different enough to be worth it.

#5 - Criminal Minds/NCIS - "tonyrossi - met at a conference pre show and go through the seasons"

Current Wordcount: ~5,500
Current Pages: 10

This is a lot of jotted notes that need to be turned into actual sentences with plenty of dialogues written out to show what kind of effect dating Rossi might have on events with a bigger focus on NCIS episodes until things derail when Shepard tries to send Tony undercover to seduce Jeanne Benoit and Tony refuses.

I've read some stories with this pairing and I want more and in the eye of lack of stories to be found, I need to write something myself. That's the only reason for writing it. It has some issues with how things derail and how realistic it is and how transparent I am when I shouldn't be.

#6 - Hawaii Five-0/NCIS - "stevetony - soulmate mark"

Current Wordcount: ~1,500
Current Pages: 3

I love reading soulmate stories of all kinds and this is the result of that. This is one long winded idea throw down so far. It is also inspired by several stories I read where Tony is officially send out as Agent Afloat, but really is given a different task to complete.

Not sure when it's best going to take place in the Hawaii Five-0 canon outside of somewhere season 1. It doesn't help that most of my knowledge for Hawaii Five-0 is from fanfiction and fandom wiki and the same goes for NCIS beyond season 3.

The soulmate marks are cryptic symbols defining your soulmate and the circumstances of meeting. Tony at one point thought his fit Wendy (and I have no clue how that meshes with canon vs what I got from stories) but it's really Steve. They first meet each other while Tony undercover for the Pearl Harbor office - which he's actually send in to investigate for corruption while officially working there - something he later on reads Steve and the rest in on as he's cleared them from the connection he found to the Governor.

Which then develops into a mix of those two figuring things out between them and the cases they're building (and everything in between)

#7 - Hawaii Five-0/NCIS - "stevetony - tony asks for hawaii instead of rota"

Current Wordcount: ~3,400
Current Pages: 6

First of all, I will definitely have to watch that episode in which Tony was offered Rota to get a feel of timing on that front. However, this assumes that the events of that episode line up with the pilot of Hawaii Five-0 with an established Steve/Tony.

It more or less starts with Steve contacting Tony about his dad and the task force and asking him to come to Hawaii shortly before Tony goes to that meeting in which he is offered Rota. So, the thought of possibly leaving is already on his mind when he gets the offer. So, while he's uncertain about what to do - stay or leave - he asks Sheppard if Pearl Harbor would be an option, using a long distance partner as an explanation while skirting around the gender.

He ends up being offered to work with the taskforce as an inside man for NCIS and Tony ends up pointing out some bits about the past months that Sheppard missed. While I've read plenty of story with her as the bad guy in things, I read one where she actually ends up realising just how much she's risking other's livelihood with her vendetta and I'd love to go more of that route here.

Gibbs originally knew of Steve/Tony, but his amnesia made him forget and when Tony and Gibbs talk about Tony leaving that is a big wake up call for Gibbs in regards to the holes in his memories he ignored so far (or wasn't even aware of) - so I'm hoping to resolve some issues on that front. Although I'm not sure how many issues are fanon and how many of them are canon.

And the rest is a blank once Tony is in Hawaii. So, this is typical for the majority of stories I've written in the past decade or so - a (seemingly) solid beginning to set up everything and then nothing. I really want a something here. But maybe I'm more about cleaning up the issues in DC than I am about what happens in Hawaii once Tony is there... Why do my stories start out with a focus and halfway through shift that focus to something else?

#8 - Hawaii Five-0/NCIS - "stevetony - developed somewhere along the line"

Current Wordcount: ~7,600
Current Pages: 14

This was fun to write so far. They start out as a one-night stand after Wendy left Tony and a bad mission for Steve and somewhere down the line it turned from sex without strings attached to friends with benefits to more and things like that are explained in the prologue.

It really starts in chapter on with the events that led to Abby and Kate creating that fake picture of Tony with a guy in retaliation of Tony finding that wet-t-shirt contest picture of Kate. I think it is in part inspired by a story where Gibbs accidentally ended up hitting "send all" and distributing them to all of NCIS instead of deleting them and the fall out from it, because as Tony sits in the car after Kate and he did their hasty retreat, he suddenly realises just what kind of damage that picture can cause to his career and his life.

Tony owns up to letting things go too far (and accepting his punishment for it), but also has an implication that Kate (and by extension Abby) just don't realise how dangerous that kind of picture can be and has lessons for them.

After hours, Tony goes to Gibbs' place and kind of tells him about Steve (leaving out details like a name).

This leads into SWAK that leaves all kind of impressions on their relationship. One quote from Tony I like: “Are we settling down without the actual settling in one location together part?”

With short succession we have Season 3 with Ziva and Sheppard and going right into Gibbs' siesta. While Tony talks about Jeanne Benoit with Shepard and why he doesn't want to do it, Steve calls about his dad dying as he's on the way to Hawaii. In the aftermath of that, Tony kind of confesses the truth to Sheppard, choosing to trust her.

This follows a mess of NCIS cases that I have absolutely no idea in which order they happened that needs some fixing and Tony going for the funeral and (timing - who cares about timing?) and discussing some of the worries he has about what's going on there with NCIS being busy and the taskforce being created with Sheppard upon his return.

Ultimately, when Gibbs comes back, Sheppard offers him Pearl Harbor instead of Rota and Tony putting some serious thought into going or staying.

He eventually leaves, there's what feels like oversharing of Tony's past between Tony and the team and of course the MCRT ends up in Hawaii for a case and so on... I think this has an endless spin to it. I need to define where it should end.

#9 - Hawaii Five-0/NCIS - "gibbstony - tony needs a clean break during hiatus"

Current Wordcount: ~1,200
Current Pages: 3

I'm not sure why this is labeled as a crossover as aside from Hawaii, I haven't spotted a mention of the taskforce or any members yet. What happens is that when Gibbs returns and still doesn't remember Tony or their relationship, Tony knows that he needs a clean break or he's going to break under the emotional toll it's taking on him.

He confesses the truth to Ducky and leaves a letter with him for Gibbs.

The notes leave off when Gibbs remembers and gets the letter. There clearly is a plot waiting for Gibbs to work on getting Tony back. However that may look like.

#10 - Hawaii Five-0/NCIS - "stevetony - met during military academy"

Current Wordcount: ~800
Current Pages: 2

This story is currently in the process of being typed up and the word count is going by what is typed up...

This requires a bit more moving things around time line wise as revealed by a quick check into birthdates for Steve and Tony. The idea is that the military academies both attended got together for some competitions (because some of the teachers/deans knew each other and had a friendly competition going?) and Tony and Steve end up in an on/off relationship with some big blow ups in regards to the state of their relationship and future together.

Tony tries to settle down with Wendy at one point and that also doesn't work.

They meet again when Steve ends up kind of a "character witness" to a victim of a crime investigated by a different team (and this kind of derails the story into too much of a case) and the two rekindling their friendship, but Tony refusing anything else, pointing out that it hasn't worked in the past and that he's not going to have a short lived affair with Steve again.

A talk that Gibbs witnesses, but doesn't overhear, so he doesn't know details.

Post Chained/Missing (haven't decided which one), Gibbs and Tony get together for a no strings attached kind of deal after they talk about the Tony/Steve thing.

Things go along as they do and by the time Ziva joins the team, the pilot of Hawaii Five-0 happens and Steve makes Tony an implicit offer to come to Hawaii and a future together. With worry about regretting it (and after making Steve work for it), Tony (with the help of Gibbs) gets a transfer to Pearl Harbor and the rest is kind of a run on story about Tony and Steve and trying to keep it low key but the rest of the team finding out one by one.

Once again, plenty to straighten out about what's needed and what is just bulk. Instead of typing up the rest, I keep getting caught in reading it over and over again. :D

Stuff I need to type up

And I think I should make a cut here. I have a couple of more I need to type up, but the list (and my summaries of them and thoughts about them) are already long enough that I should probably leave it as is. Of those that I still need to type up, there two Steve/Tony, one Rossi/Tony, one Ducky/Tony and one kind of background story for bisexual/gay Tony that I could implicitly integrate into other stories. It features a kind of relationship with another guy in Peoria that ends deadly for the other guy after rumours spread about the other guy being gay.

I should also consider pushing that one Good Omen story back to priority in which Crowley/Lucifer are together with Aziraphale being their child (with Aziraphale entirely unaware of that connection and Lucifer unaware that Crowley is "fraternising" with an angel, let alone their child). There is some inspiration for this Lucifer from the show Lucifer, but I wouldn't put it down as a crossover.
