Depakote (Valproic Acid) and Risperdal (Risperidone)

I've been diagnosed in the past with severe depression and anxiety. I've taken more meds than I can name and had so many problems. Later, I was diagnosed bipolar and most recently, I was taking Prozac and Abilify for the bipolar and Xanax for anxiety. I got ill for a few days and was unable to keep anything down and as a result, went about 4 or 5 days without taking any of my meds. i ended up having a serious seizure and spent a few days in a schizo-type episode. i have never had severe hallucinations and paranoid delusions before like I did in the days following my seizure and was told that it was caused by abruptly stopping my meds. Anyway, after that, i decided to continue only taking the xanax for anxiety and to help me sleep at night. So it's been a few months this way (since Sept.) and I just went to a new psychiatrist on monday. He prescribed me Valproic Acid (brand name Depakote) and Risperidone (brand name Risperdal) after I provided him with a list of meds that I've been on in the past with no success. I'm very reluctant to take these new meds without first knowing more about them. i've read the wiki articles but I'd like to hear from people who have used them (either separately or together). Sorry for the long background story. i'm really just interested in anyone who has used these meds and has experience and can tell me about it. I really really didn't like this psychiatrist that I met and I don't trust him at all. I'm planning on going to another psychiatrist soon to get a second opinion before I even consider taking these new meds that he gave me. So if anyone has any advice or experiences to share, that would be great. Thanks guys. Happy medicating to you all. :o)

Hi I'm Jen, I have suffered with anxiety disorder, borderline, body dysmorphic, and depression since senior year of high school. I currently slipped into a deep depression after coming off of a manic state on lexapro. I am taking around 2.25mg of clonopin a day and 300 mg of wellbutrin. I've been on wellbutrin 2 weeks and i do not feel any different.anyone ever try these meds?

Hey guys Im new to this community, I was wondering if anyone is on any sort of muscle relaxant, like a benzodiazepines? I think I may be going on Valium in a bit and I was just curious what sort of reaction everyone has to these sort of drugs. I'm a little more concerned with the long term affects...

Fluoxetine (Prozac)

Hi there,

I am 19, and after a whole adolescence of depression, self injury etc (the whole shebang), when I got to university, I thought I should sort it out. Went to the doctor, and got given Citalopram. I rang my mother up to tell her what the doc had said and she started throwing scare-stories at me, and telling me about how citalopram did nothing for her, and how even worse, when she was on prozac she lost her memory and so on. My mother can be a very very bitter woman, and so I took the citalopram anyway. The only problem with it was the fact that it made me really ill as soon as I took the first tablet. I didn't really have a chance to feel better, because I was so ill!

Ah well. Went back to the doc, and she told me that I could try something else. I told her I would come back soon. When I did, she prescribed me Fluoxetine. The drug my mother has such problems with. Even my Dad went weird when I told him. I have taken one tablet so far, yesterday, and I am about to take my second one. So far, it is better for me than Citalopram, but it is early days, I know.

I just kinda want to know if anyone has had good experiences, or knows anyone who has, whilst on Fluoxetine. All I seem to get from livejournal is scare stories... They have been freaking me out.

Any help would be much much appreciated!

The joy of citalopram :D

I'm 18 and had severe depression but its uncertain when that started.
I'v had Trichotillomania since i was 7 and its been suggested by most of the DRs i've been referred to that the ttm is caused by my depression but thats background info only.

I've been taking Citalopram since last June and am on 40mg now. The lower doses (10mg, 20mg) had very little affecton me but I believe the 40mg was the best decision I ever made. The only side affects i still have is dry mouth.

im sleeping better, my dreams are still very vivid but nightmares are extremely rare these days, im louder, more confident and i now stick up for myself.

i still need therapy though because growing up with depression im used to blameing myself etc so that needs to be fixed.

But finally I'm on the right track
:D

Klonopin or Xanax?

Klonopin vs. xanax?

opinions please?

my doctor prescribed me .5mg klonopin. A few people have told me i should try for xanax instead. But then i've been getting mixed opinions from people. Some say klonopin is better while others say xanax. Personally, i have no idea.

So which one do you prefer?

Geodon?

Today I saw my psychiatrist and he put me on Geodon. I am to be on 20mgs a day, twice a day, of this drug. So, I will be on 40mgs of Geodon a day, total. I have never been on this drug before and am very curious about it and what it's been like for other people. I will also be researching it online. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with this medication? Thanks in advance!
