I think this is one of the best you've done for SGA. John's downcast expression and Rodney's (especially Rodney's) looking up with concern and hope-slash-relief at the incoming jumper are both wonderful. The body language, the bloody sock... all fabulous.

Thank you, Rodney is not the easiest person to get right, so I'm glad he came out well. I really like the sock myself and I'm happy so many people commented on it. I'm developing a taste for gore, I feel, since my next one has some too. I've probably been reading your stories too much :P

I love how the pic seems to tell a story about how long John might have been fighting before Rodney found him, how tired he is and ready to go home. So tired that he's more giving into leaning against Rodney than doing it of relief or reason. My favorite part is the socked foot, slightly bent at the ankle, kind of vulnerably, and the blood stains. It looks as though John's still holding onto his gun, whereas Rodney's holding onto John. Reminds me a bit of

seperis's What I Look For On The Sides Of mountains (http://seperis.livejournal.com/413886.html#cutid1).

I really do love this pic, it's such a great piece of storytelling.

I don't know if you've read

yin_again's Complimentary Colors (http://yin-again.livejournal.com/430967.html#cutid1), but when she's describing the artwork I was totally thinking of your artwork, especially the kind of colors you use.

Thank you so much for the lovely comment. The sock seems to have gotten everyone's attention and yes, it was one of the major things I tried to show his vulnerability through. I wasn't so sure where to put the gun, but I realized that even though John was so tired that he was slumping against Rodney, he still wouldn't let go of the gun, even if there wasn't anything he might be able to do fast enough. Thanks for the link to

yin_again's story, I thought the abstract descriptions of the artwork and colors were gorgeous, although I'd say some of the actual mechanics of the preparation and artwork itself were a little...suspect.

This is beautitful. John's face is perfect! I love Rodney's "it'll be okay" arm on his shoulder.

This isn't a criticism, but it made me giggle a little: I notice all the time that John isn't wearing socks. I don't know why I notice it, but I do. And I think he should be wearing them. So the sock made me happy.
