FOUND DOG

Hi Everyone,

A reddish, male Cocker Spaniel Mix was found in Home Park on Wednesday, April 27th. He was first sighted in some bushes next to a tree on Center Street. He had a leash, collar, and flee collar but no tag. Some photos are can be viewed below:

Meet me in the morning light; We know it won't last forever...
Wear it out while it feels right; We know that it's now or never.

Meet me in the sky tonight; We could fly away together...
Maybe if we try it right; We could make our love forever.

In one week, I'll be 23 years old. It's crazy. I can't believe it. My parents keep asking me what I want to do to celebrate, and I have no idea. School-related functions have consumed my life to the point that I don't know who I am as an individual anymore. Well, except for the fact that I know that I'm unhappy and that things need to change.

The funny thing is that this is eerily similar to the same situation I found one of my good friends, Julea, in just a few years ago when she was finishing up her undergrad. Julea is and was a workaholic by nature, one of the most resilient and brilliant young women I have come to know. Even though her time was spent doing highly productive activities, she wasn't happy. My advice to her was to make Julea-time and just do something that made her happy every once and awhile.

I am the worst at taking my own advice, but that's exactly what I need to do right now. I've become a social recluse, and that is the first thing that needs to change. From here on out I'm going to make it a goal to go on a social outing solo, with a friend, or with a group each week. I'll let you know how that goes: It should give me more to write about.

Ink Isn't Missing Anymore!

Ink is Missing Again!

Ink came home! Thanks to everyone that helped spread the word!

Please help me find him! He was last seen outside on Friday, February 19th, 2010 around 7pm in the Home Park/West Midtown neighborhood of Atlanta near 14th Street and Center Street. Although he is an indoor/outdoor cat, Ink usually comes home to eat and sleep and rarely stays out longer than a few hours. He has not been seen since last night. Multiple searches have been held in the surrounding area where he typically roams, but there are no traces of him to be found! Please keep an eye out for my little guy: he's around 2-3 years old, but very petite, wears a light green collar with his home telephone number written on it, has a distinctive battle scar on his nose (see above photo), occasionally squints his left eye, has a brown undercoat, and is very, VERY personable. If you live in the area, please check your basement or crawl-space. If you happen to spot him, leave me a message here or contact me by e-mail at mariasot@gatech.edu

Ink has been missing since about 7pm. It's almost midnight. He's done this before, but I still worry.

It doesn't help that I am starting to feel burnt out on school. All I seem to do anymore is do schoolwork. I hope it pays off soon.

I turn 23 about two weeks and I feel like I have nothing to show for it. I'm just old. And boring. I want to do something fun but worry I won't have time to take off school. Or worse yet, I wouldn't even know what to do or who to do it with. How lame would that be?

Blegh.

Sunday Special: Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs

Photobucket

It's almost that time of year again: Valentine's Day. This year the much contested holiday happens to fall on a Sunday. To celebrate and commiserate this momentous occasion, former Goldsoundz co-host Jennifer and I will be airing a Magnetic Fields themed Sunday Special on February 14th from 7pm to 9pm EST. During the Special, we will be playing as many tracks off of their epic '69 Love Songs' release as we can fit into the 2 hour set.

So tune in on 91.1 FM Atlanta or www.wrek.org this weekend, because we all know that if there is anyone who understands how you feel about Valentine's Day, it's Stephin Merritt.

xoxo,
Maria

I'm about a day late on writing a "real" entry, but that's because I haven't had time to do much other than focus on school this past week. My schedule consists of one 1.5 afternoon class on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the other 3 hour-and-a-half courses nearly back to back from noon to 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would then go to WREK for my radio show on Tuesdays, but fortunately my co-hosts and I have decided to alternate shifts, so I won't have to come in every week.

This course schedule was made a bit more hectic last week with the continuation of Georgia's cold spell and the translocation of my Logistics course to a different, more inconveniently located building. While I got some new boots to combat the cold and my Logistics professor is quite worth coming to class for, I still feel considerably run down right now. I have homework or readings to do in 3 out of 4 classes to do and feel somewhat behind. Fortunately, last night I did a considerable amount of reading for my Public Policy course. Unfortunately, I woke up this morning feeling like absolute crud.

Guess I'll be sitting this weekend out and getting caught up with Tech. Bah.
