Supernatural is an American horror television series, created by Eric Kripke. The show combines the supernatural paranormal with elements of humour.
Having made its debut on the WB channel on September 13 in 2005, the show follows two brothers, Dean and Sam Winchester, as they fight all manner of creatures and try desperately to track down their father. Dean Winchester played by Jensen Ackles and Sam Winchester played by Jared Padalecki are joined on their quest by an assortment of different and vibrant Characters, including Bobby, played by Jim Beaver and in Season 4 Castiel the angel, played by Misha Collins.
The series filmed in Vancouver, Canada premiered its pilot episode to viewing figures of approximately 5.6 million people worldwide. Originally planned by Kripke as a three season show, the director and creator expanded it to five when the network presented high viewing figures. Later, with continuing success, the show was expanded even further and is now currently in its tenth season. Kripke himself decided after five that he had had enough behind the camera, and as such demoted himself into an advisory role.
