Tarnished Armor

I wrote this recently for strigine! I thought I'd repost here, since there are some readers of TA who might enjoy seeing it.

I know it's been ages since I worked on this novel, but I still do love these characters!

ahhh, so revising i need to rework this sentence.

Men am byn, sa nasa nymma lanon ysebara Liviss vysil y rygan?

But I ask, can cannot your mind intermittent Livit(ian) perceive the King?
But I ask can your unreliable Livitian mind not perceive the King?

Men a-bin, sa-naza nimma lon iyisebra Livit vijil iyi rijan?

in that if in yran there is that "yee" sound in a place where it is hard to just become "ih" (ie, not between constonants) it becomes "iyi".

of course, then i have no idea why it's name-y-father. in yran that makes no sense (y kess = the son (of) ; y = the; uhhh)

i suppose y/ "yih" or "yuh" could have a different meaning in Livitian, maybe even a degraded-over-time non-meaning? After all it's a dialect not an entirely new language, and not even a super shifted dialect. almost an accent, really.

...Yeah, that's it!

ok, so maybe this only amuses me; if so, feel free to, well, i guess ignore me *laughing*.

one of the fun things about my new storylet, though lots of the background stuff is getting chopped, is that i am getting to develop livit. in TA proper, you really only hear of Livit as a Yran ally; in this new story, Livit must display its own.

Part of that is Livitian dialect, which I see as being a harder, sharper mutation of Yranic.

While on vacation in the mountains I came up with another little story idea to be set in the same world as Tarnished Armor. I'll probably work on it in kittyspeak since I know most of you are here for the TA story proper; but this history belongs to the TA world and I thought you might enjoy it. May contain minor spoilers; but nothing not hinted at throughout this journal and even in the story itself.

I've been trying to work on this story for, like, forever, but I finally got on a bit of a roll after reading a giant chunk of new songbirds from Leah. Anyway, I'm trying to get this chapter back on Plot, because, ya know, it's supposed to be a big event, and it's going something like this.

"La la la, we're tromping through the woods, lookin' for dragons, and... mrfffff!"

*Geran makes out with Marcus*

*whips out the firehose*

:O! Damn the porn! Get back, back!

*sighs and lets it happen*

No seriously, if I ever actually want to go back through this, there's gonna be tons of work to do. So much bridging and chopping and reworking... Yikes! I know there's inconsistencies between chapters one and now because I've gone back and changed things in drafts not posted, and because things have simply shifted in my head and need to be reworked- man I just hope I *DO* sit down and rework it all though, because after all these years of effort, I think I should do myself the courtesy and try to finish it and nicely.

Tarnished Armor Chapter Six is now up!

Tarnished Armor's third birthday was four days ago. (It began Jan 16, 2001). Is that crazy or what? Chapter six is out to beta and will be posted in the next couple of weeks. I guess it's sort of like an anniversary eh?

This is a prize fic for strigine, who requested it during my boredom challenge. But it was so long, I decided to post it here and i'll link it back tomorrow morning from the boredom post.

oops, thanks to janette for pointing it out, this is far in the future time, towards what will be the end of Tarnished Armor! not really anything you don't find out in the first five minutes of the story, though.
