I hate to say this, and after almost four years of being together with this comm, I guess it's time to say goodbye.

Personally, as the person who started everything, I've grown tired of feeling like I'm trapped, while people I've worked together with can conveniently go "Oh hai Alice, I feel like leaving k~" while all I can do is stay here, helplessly caged to this community I built in my own name initially. I felt like all I could do was smile and wish everyone good luck. And I really don't want to have to do that again, not here.

iconsmex will always have a special place in my heart. It was my first, and up until today, my only icon journal, and no matter what, 4-ish years of memories, of happiness, sadness, and ugly old graphics, are irreplaceable.

I, Alice, truly appreciate all of you guys for sticking with me, and my other iconmakers, for however long you have - whether it was from the very beginning when my icons were like texture vomit, or quite recently, when me and regis attacked you with Prince of Tennis icons. Without you guys, I probably would have lost the will to make nice looking icons except maybe LIMS. They're pretty motivating 8D ♥.

So from the bottom of my heart, I would like to say one thing.

And what about me and deliver? We decided to keep it real, and...have some smacking goodtiemz together over at gaysmax, so again, if you're interested in my crap, and Aki's never-ever-posting, then retsu habbu some happy smacking funtiemz ♥

Once again, thank you, and goodbye. It was nice, but I guess we've just gotta go our own ways sometimes. And yes, you did spot a slight HSM2 reference *cough*

iconsmex finally has a new profile, with the ugly, halfassed profile header (well...it's not really a header if it's on the side, is it!?) done by me :O. Which has ugly shading, shut up, I know that already, I did it in less than 3 hours, what did you expect? If you'd like to read about how random we really are, that's totally a good place to be XD. And um, I seriously mean random XD;;. The stuff I churned up was mostly about how we like gay things :D;;. And a little bit about our icon-making styles.

A new layout should be coming up soonish, so look out for that too~!


Lastly, I'm kind of running out of nice things to icon, so um, it'd be cool if you could shoot some fandoms (and a link to downloads) up my alley - who knows? I might like it and make massive spam batches of it 8D.....though massive batches isn't really my thing, and those who've been with us since this was just a one-person venture would know that I kind of...switch fandoms at the speed of light :D;;. Consider it a somewhat informal request post? Like...really informal, and it's really more of me requesting YOU guys what you think I should read/watch XD. Preferably read - I don't really have time for animu ;_;

It's about time I just scrapped our old ones and redid this shit, and especially since a lot of changes have happened since...forever. To anyone who used to be affiliates with iconsmex and are still interested in affiliating, just apply to be affiliated again, and sorry if this causes massive troubles or anything.

Okay, time to 'fess up a bit.

I've been talking to monochroma about this, and the truth is, I feel that it's my time to leave this community. To be honest, this was supposed to happen earlier, but well, a lot of unexpected things came up, and it would've been a mess if nearly half the icon makers here left within the same week.

As much as I've been welcomed here (and I'm thankful to everyone for that ♥), I don't think this is my place to belong after all. I'm being very blunt here, but this is mostly an animanga dominated icon community, and I've drifted from that fandom a while back. I feel out of place here with what I choose to icon, and whether this is selfish or not, I think it's time for me to go.

So THANK YOU GUYS so much for the support. ♥ And the best of everything to all iconists here; I love you guys. ♥♥

I'll be flying solo for now, so uhhh, if anyone's interested, I've moved to: rumorstyle

This is um, going to be um, a very different sort of tutorial. Because over the period I've been working on the tutorial, I've scrapped all the sample images I tried colouring (Mostly, I'd finish the skin and go aoidhglaksdhf fuck you at them). Then um, recently I started colouring in openCanvas rather than Photoshop, which is problematic because the techniques and tools employed are going to be different.

Because of that, I'll be doing two manga colouring tutorials - here, have the Photoshop one first, considering Photoshop's a more commonly employed program over openCanvas, and OC is impossible to explain steps for.

Anyway, here's how to go from:

Program: Adobe Photoshop CS3 (Translateable, but Photoshoppers have it easiest)
Level: Medium/Hard - Requires knowledge on how to create solid colour adjustment layers and/or apply layer masks to layers, as well as knowledge of clipping masks.

WARNING: This tutorial is image heavy, and extremely tl;dr aka long.

regis's been hogging the place, so it's time to kick back in 8D. Mostly variations, really. And I think it's a pretty weird batch coming from me, lmao. None of my usual fandoms are present, hahaha. Though...do I even have a usual fandom apart from Prince of Tennis? I guess a better thing to say is "LOL IDK SHE EVEN KNEW THAT FANDOM LOL" is more appropriate.

Secondly, I'm not going to stop replying to comments like "Thanks, taking [insert icon here]" and "Wow, lovely~~" just because certain people seem to think that I come off as arrogant when I do. I honestly am very thankful to anyone that uses my icons or think they're nice, because personally, I'm pretty hard on my own graphics, and I do spend a lot of time, only to scrap lots of things. The icons I present are usually ones that I deliberate over a long time before posting, and usually the ones I'm proud of. I don't believe in being "modest" and going "Oh no, my graphics suck but I'm still posting it online even though it's going to kill people's eyes!!". If people think my graphics are nice and want to use them, then obviously that makes me happy that my graphics are of use to people other than me and my own entertainment from making them.

I guess, long story short - think what you want of me, but I'm still going to be here making icons, whether you like it or not ♥

Geared towards people who know graphics lingo and don't need LOLINDEPTH explanations as to how to change things like layer modes, and also people who know how to make adjustment layers, because I'm too lazy to explain.

I actually have a longcat manga colouring tutorial coming up, but...that's going to take forever.

There's uh, no request limit. But there's also the fact that I may not have PSDs anymore, so hey. The newer the icon is, the higher the chances that I'll be able to do your requests.

Oh yeah, I won't be going into ANY manga colouring details, so if you request manga colouring icons, I'm seriously going to just take the coloured scan as the base. Tough luck, wait for my manga colouring tutorial 8D.

I...don't think I've ever spammed anyone with this many icons of a sole series ever. So uh, yeah. SORRY THIS POST IS NOT MORE INTERESTING, AND ENTIRELY OF SWEATY TEENAGED GAY TENNIS PLAYERS. Yeah, while the whole world is fangirling Code Geass R2, Nabari no Ou, Vampire Knight etc., I decided to go backwards to stuff that's been around since FOREVER. Shut up, I haven't had time to watch the new stuff, and why icon it when everyone else has already anyway!? *is bricked*.

Anyyyyway, lots of variations, mostly fooling around with brighter colouring than I usually use, and crops. So yeah, if they blind you and are very unpleasantly cropped, I apologise in advance XD.

Also guys, please do continue to support emanix if you liked her graphics at her new location, nocturnalites and I'm sorry that personal differences got in the way of the comm, but that's just the way the dice rolls sometimes.
