I hate it when I post icons and people complain about them being non-canon.

Also: let's look at the ridiculousness of that "Ginny is a whore" argument.

a) Usually, whore means that you've slept around, and there isn't any evidence of that.
b) It's a crime to date multiple boys? The length of time she dates them isn't OMG SO SHORT SHE GETS AROUND, it's normal. Seeing as she's high school age, it's very, very normal. Generally, high school romances aren't TWOO WUV and she wasn't required to have a really good reason to break up with Dean, Michael Corner etc because HS relationships dissolve like *that*.
c) Judging someone else's ('specially a woman's) sexuality is just plain wrong. Double standards, anyone? Policing morality?
d) Calling someone a slut is just so juvenile.

After I told her she has a lot of free time on her hands and then asked her to stop, she came back and HAD to post (I should be a grammar nazi):

Also, I'm way anti-canon ships, but your icons aren't funny.


I think they are funny, so do the 100+ people who commented on them, bitch.

Am I just out of touch or something?

Is it, or is it not, appropriate and expected that in-character photoshoots (cast photos, promo shots, poster art, etc.) are (gasp of all gasps) considered the characters as opposed to the actors themselves?

Welcome to iconmakerrants! This is a new community dedicated to icon makers being able to rant about all things related to icons. This includes icon contests, icon challenges, screencaps, tutorials, and much, much more! This is a new community dedicated to icon makers being able to rant about all things related to icons. This includes icon contests, icon challenges, screencaps, tutorials, and much, much more!

The best way to figure out if you are in fact ready to join this community is to ask yourself if you are getting aggravated about any thing related to icons and icon making. If the answer is yes, then this is the place for you! Membership is open, but all posts will be friends-only.

As of now, posts are unmoderated, meaning they get posted right away. However, that may change if people decide to abuse it. As of now, there are a few rules. If you join, you must follow these rules. Also, rules can and will be added at any time as seen fit.

1) This is a ranting community, but you don't have to be completely cruel when you rant.

2) Don't personally attack someone on anything that doesn't have to do with icons (ie. Their fandoms)

3) When posting an example of what you are ranting about, upload it to your own server and do not mention the icon maker's username. Sometimes it is better if you make your own icon that looks like what you are ranting about because that icon maker just may be a member of this community. Also, it is a must to create an example of what you are ranting about if the original poster requires credit no matter how bad of an icon you may think it is.

4) Keep the promotion of any community to a minimum.

5) Use the LJ Cut if your entries are long or you are posting icons that not all members want to see as well as larger graphics.

6) Remember that not all members are necessarily interested in having to see/read mature content (this includes language and any icons/pictures containing nudity or foul language) so put them under an LJ Cut and include a warning.

7) Whatever happens here stays here. As in, if you don't like the way a moderator has handled something, don't go to their personal journal and start ranting and raving to them about it. The same goes for any other member. If you have a problem with that, do not be afraid to e-mail the moderator who will handle it from there. This also includes posting links to other icon makers' journals when ranting about something they may have said or done.


As previously mentioned, rules will be added and changed as seen fit.
