The saddest moments of my time here on LJ are the column of birthday announcements that appear on my home screen. It is a list of friendships lost to the impersonal morass of Facebook, Xitter, and Instagram, with a few sprinkled in there who have died, leaving behind a fragmented record of our friendship, maintained only by the permanent status awarded to us early adopters. I occasionally "nudge" one of them, to no avail. Some stop by when they are bored, only to disappear again. I wish LJ would federate, allowing interaction with other platforms who do. It could breathe life into this place.
Her first video since before the pandemic and her messy divorce with Neil Gaiman. For those who don't know (probably most), a couple years ago, she had her fans send her things they wanted to get rid of, for her to ritualistically burn in a bonfire. That is where the images in the video come from.
