introductory post :)

Hello! / Hallo! / Salut! / ¡Hola! / Salve / Xaire ;)

I'm new to this community. I hope it's not completely dead yet, cause I've been looking for a place like this for some time now. Finally found it :D
I love Harry Potter (you could call me a freak), and I love foreign languages. I'm from Germany, so German's my native language. I've been learning English since I was 6, though. I've got my Latinum, i.e. 6 years of Latin, but I don't have it as a subject in school no more. In one year, I will also have my Graecum. I really prefer Ancient Greek to Latin, and have already tried to translate the beginning of Goblet of Fire into Ancient Greek. Not very successfully, though ;)
My newest languages are French and Spanish, I've been learning them in school for 1 1/2 years now. So I'm not very good in writing / talking, but I already can understand quite a bit.

In this community, I think I will mainly focus on English / German and vice versa, and Ancient Greek into English/German and vice versa.

One question: Is it also allowed to post Lord of the Rings - related translations in here? Because I am going to translate about one page of The Fellowship (about Lórien's landscape) into Ancient Greek for a very big school essay. I'm just curious whether that would interest someone in here as well :)

Harry Potter in Ancient Greek

Last year, someone mistakenly gave me Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in Ancient Greek instead of in Latin. My Latin skills may be virtually non-existent, but at least I know the Latin alphabet.

So, is there anybody out there who would be interested in a pre-Christmas or pre-Chanukkah present? I'd have it bookcrossed if I thought it likely it would be read by a random reader;-)The dust jacket does suffer from having spent a year under my shelf, otherwise the book is as good as new.

If you're interested, drop me a line here or mail me your address at viljen @ gmail.com. First come, first served, and I would of course never give away your RL identity.

question about posts

Hi,
I'm a new member and I wanted to post an essay about translation.
But through the admin change and the fact that there weren't any posts lately I'm not sure if the guidelines of the user info are still up-to-date.
So my question would be: What kind of posts are okay?
Cheers,

ADMIN: Offer

Would anyone be interested in taking this comm over? Much as I love the idea of it, I feel it needs more admin attention to keep it active and with real-life events my time and energy is rather low and I've neglected it. =(

Oh, and yeah-do you speak one of those languages where Blaise Zabini doesn't get to have any fun in being sexually ambiguous? He's been a girl in Slovenia since page 97 of book one ;)

Help needed

I need someone to help me with the English translation of a Spanish fic. It's totally done, but I've been told it has some gramatical errors, so I'd love you forever if someone told me what I've made wrong.

The fic is Draco/Ginny and has around 3,000 words, just for the record
