Some things I've done in the past: been around the world, smuggled information out of the Soviet Union, raced karts, sailboats, and sailplanes, done 30-day Buddhist meditation retreats. I love my wife, my friends, my house, my job, and the Bay Area. I consider myself a Buddhist, though I'm not practicing these days as much as I feel I should. spicy_turkey (to whom I am married) says I'm "WYSIWYG"). She thinks that's great; I find it a real pain in the ass at times, but have learned to live with it.
I recently discovered indoor climbing, and that is currently my favorite "leisure" activity.
I play electric blues guitar, and enjoy it immensely, though I'm not doing it a lot at the moment.
I'm a computer geek, and I seem to be reasonably good at it, though my real love is cognitive / computational neuroscience. I got a Ph.D. in that from the Cognitive Science department at UCSD in 1997, did a 2-year postdoc at CMU in Pittsburgh, but was lured back into developing software during the dot-com boom. If I ever win the lottery, one of the first things I'll do is restart my neuroscience research.
