Are you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.
Hi Im planning a trip to the States with my partner in August and I thought Id make the most of lj and see if I can get some local recomendations. We will be in NYC for a week from 15th August then flying to Seattle, where from there, we will drive down the west coast to San Fran including stops at Olympia and Portland.
so Im wondering if anyone has any general tips as well as;
bands, nights, events, clubs and anything else relating to butch/femme/queer/trans* communities in any of those areas ....
Come on down to the Northcote Social Club to witness the (not so) straight out punk and rockabilly antics of Ikochi all the way from Tokyo. This three piece outfit-with the gender defying stage singer/guitarist Chikako and death defying bass player Minato Kota-are ready to shake things up. With support from Melbourne's The Minority delivering their unashamedly daring, queer electro rock! More tunes from DJ Linx and DJ Aztek with the fabulous Roxy Bullwinkle playing host!
Upstart Alley is a not for profit crew putting on a range of events that welcome all you misfits who punch and leak outta the boxes and beyond. At Upstart Alley freaks and queers lurk in the dark corners doing dirty beautiful things and all the gender fuckers are dancing on the pavement, making their own meanings and building their own communities.
hey some friends and i are starting a rockabilly influenced punk band... a bit psychobilly...maybe a bit of swing maybe a bit of ska.. ya never really know...
anyways we havent actually jammed yet but at the moment we are listening to a lot of desparado 5, fireballs, the stray cats, mad sin, operation ivy, brian setzer, amazing royal crowns, royal crown revue.... hopefully you get the picture...
apart from being able to pull off the singing part and being into rockabilly/punk - other things we are looking for in a singer include - no big drinkers/drug users, reliable, queer/trans friendly, no racist/sexist/classist folks, someone politically charged, left wing ...
anyways if you are keen to talk more or know someone who could be then let me know.
is anyone interested in coming to a newly formed book club? i just moved to d.c. and want to meet some cool people and also stop watching so much goddamn tv!
the book club will have an "activist" spin to it, in terms of the books we read. it isn't going to be heavy shit like Marx or anything, but not fluff either! It will be starting sometime in may.
go hang out in bookstores, it makes your heart happy i promise...
let me know if you're interested or want more info!
I'm a New Zealander travelling to Hungary for study in November and then to Germany for a week to catch up with friends, and then to England for a week and a half to holiday. I'm really interested in finding out more info about gigs and clubs that are on at the beginning of Decemeber in London as I'll be there then and in all honesty NZ lacks a lot in the riot grrrl, homocore, queercore scene. I really wanted to go to Homo a Gogo this year, but I can't afford anymore overseas trips.
What sort of things could anyone suggest?
I've heard that Club Motherfucker is good in London. Any other suggestions?
Some of my favourite bands are the Gossip, the Butchies, Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre, Bikini Kill, Mirah, Team Dresch, Amy Kasio, Audio Porn etc. See my profile for more info.
I'd also be interested in meeting up with people in London with similar interests.
Hi, come and join a brand-new homo/bi friendly community: happy_gay_life
This is a community dedicated to building a positive homo/bi image by sharing joyful and uplifting experiences of being homo/bi.
Ever wonder why there are so few homo/bi stories/movies with happy endings? I did.
I figure out that it has to come from us. We've got to count our blessings and share these lovely moments with each other: the special moments that bring smiles to our faces, that make our hearts sing, that tickle us, that move us to tears of joy ... on a daily basis.
Every time you share a line of joy, you're contributing to building a positive homo/bi image.
4. I've apparently spammed a lotta communities telling them I play from 8-11. This is because I'm exhausted and crack-addled. It's from 8-10PM. I promise.
5. You can listen via streaming audio, through the website and iTunes.
If you have ever loved so much, it brought you to your knees - we may be the band for you. If you have ever had to let go of the love of your life, with hopes they may return - we may be the band for you. If you feel MORE than everyone - we may be the band for you.
