But does anyone else have a problem where when they write fanfiction and the dialogue sounds weird? What do you do about it? All my dialogue sounds so awkward for the characters. Sorry this is a bit off topic, but I just need some help with my fic.

I'm Maureen and I just recently discovered Hollyoaks. I haven't seen a lot of it, just Newt's story, which I found on YouTube. But I'm organizing a fanfic. One problem, besides not knowing any other storylines, I'm from the USA and I know that some words we say over here, are different over there, such as grade levels in schools and such. So if anyone wants to help me out, that'd be great. I have a few ideas for the plot and all I know is it involves OCs. Don't worry, I'll be careful not to make any Mary-Sues. Anyways, anyone want to help me out? I know I sound like I'm just jumping in to write a fic, but when I get ideas, I need to write them out. Sorry if I sound too... What's the word I'm looking for?... Newbie-ish?
