how is it??

I'm a junior and Hollins is the first college that really got my attention because of its writing program. So i wanted to know for those of you who've taken it, do you think it has helped you in your careers?

And also, what's it like being at an all-women's college?!

thanks :)

Roommates

Hey,

Are there any Hollins Alum in the Virginia DC suburbs looking for roommates? I will be attending GMU in the Fall for a graduate program and am on the prowl for a roommate/place to live. :)

UK Graduate Program vs. Hollins?

I was wondering if there were any Hollins graduates who went on to attend a UK graduate program?

I'm curious about the differences in the teaching styles and classroom styles. Did you find the UK style more difficult or just different? What was the hardest adjustment for you?

Background:

I'm looking at applying to the University of Kent's program in Brussels / MA in International Conflict Analysis. My degree from Hollins is in History.

Thank you.

alumnae email

Am I the only alumnae experiencing long-term serious email issues? I've been emailing with IT and Laura Tuggle Anderson for about 2 weeks now to no avail (mostly because I've only gotten a few replies and no definite answers). Anyway, just curious if it's just me or if this is a widespread problem.

storage

Is anybody else desperately scrambling for a storage unit or need someone to take up some extra room ((to help keep the price down and what not))?

Alumnae: If you're having WebMail problems...

Hi, this is Laura Tuggle Anderson '98 and I work in Alumnae Relations - please email me at alumnae@hollins.edu and I will get IT to help. I'm sorry about this!

What happened was that IT converted alumnae webmail accounts - that they thought were active - over to a new system. They did this conversion on April 15, 2009.

We took their list of alumnae they said were using the webmail and we (Alumnae Relations) emailed them instructions a month ago. But it looks like they missed a lot of people, unfortunately.

I'm really sorry for the problem. If you email me at alumnae@hollins.edu, I will get them to respond ASAP - and I'll respond to you with new log in instructions.

Thanks!
Laura

worry worry worry

Hey guys

I just received my financial aid packet from Hollins and am quite honestly freaking out. I fear I will be in debt for the rest of my life. Quick question, does anyone regret going to Hollins? I mean, it seems like a great school--but it's just a great deal of money. I don't know. I'm just very indecisive as of now. It seems surreal that the extent of my happiness at actually GETTING IN is now to be driven away by my fears of actually paying all of this off.

....

Very sorry for the desperation-tinged post.

But, uh yeah!
Can't wait to see some of you in the fall.
Hopefully.

Club Members!

Your write ups for clubs, to let people know what you club is about and what you do are due to be turned in to the spinster by Tuesday, March 17th. These should be short, 1-2 paragraphs, and hit on the message your club wants to send to the campus or the events you put on during the year. The next week, Tuesdays, March 24, group photos will be due with member names. Photos of events can still be submitted after that date, before the end of the semester. Clubs are welcome to either take their own photo or arrange a time for one of the Spinster photographers or myself to come take the photo for you. Please remember that if you'd like us to take your photo, arrangements need to be made prior to March 24.

Talk to your club leaders! Post your picture or thoughts here, or email me at jdonaldson@hollins.edu

Thanks!
