A Rant to all "Karens"

Attention Karens of the world,

We know you seem to be empowered by the phrase,
"The Customer is Always RIGHT!" but here in the real world,
THE CUSTOMER IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT.

Yes I know that's hard for y'all to understand in your power hungry brains.
Just cause you say "I want to speak to your manager" doesn't make you better
than everyone else! And more than likely, you're just gonna make yourself look stupid.

Book Review - Simon vs The Homosapiens' Agenda

Book Review
Simon vs The Homo-Sapiens' Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Book Rating : 4/5

I started out reading this book not sure of whether I was going to finish or not but...the further I got into the story the more pleasantly surprised I was to find out how much I was enjoying it. The characters all have this crazy originality and I wasn't really expecting that when I first started reading. I don't like leaving a book unfinished so I ignored my original feelings of apathy and trudged through and I'm so glad I did.

The message itself in this story is obvious. Don't be afraid to let your inner (gay) come out... which you know, is an oversimplification but is basically the host. Really though the plot of Simon being blackmailed really sped things along in his own personal coming out story and sometimes I guess it takes a huge push for us all to take giant leaps...although seriously god speed to him coming out when he lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

Speaking of blackmail, we have the character of Martin, who and I cannot put this strongly enough, never got any sympathy from me. I know at the end of the story you're supposed to feel sorry for him but I just don't. I really don't care if he was in a weird place when he chose to do what he did, that tumblr post was AWFUL!!! No sympathy here.

I have to say the entire book I was trying to figure out Blue's identity...I actually thought, like Simon did that it was gonna be Cal. I mean the author threw a lot of options around but I certainly didn't expect it to be someone that really didn't end up on Simon's radar whatsoever. But I guess that's how life is...unexpected!!

I'd like to mention how jealous I am of the familial bond that Simon and his family have and how much I want to play that Facebook news feed game of theirs they created. Can I be adopted into a fictional family? I mean it's possible right?

By the end of this book, I found myself respecting every single guy that came out in high school. It had to be tough with all the scrutiny and bullying and this story made me appreciate y'all more than I did before I picked it up. My friend didn't come out till after high school so I understand just how difficult it is to let those walls down. So happy I stuck through and finished this. It was life changing!
