There is something about this age This time This era Of a pointless life That can terrify A soul as weak as mine To an untimely Death
If I allow myself to believe in Happy Endings Faerie Tales Prince Charming The White Knight Love I will be ruined When reality offers to me Only a crude awakening And its grim starkness
But though I may deny it I still wish for that modern day romance
Look behind masks and pretences The witch might not be all that wicked after all And even the beautiful have their faults
Love is said to conquer all But even it is felled by time and circumstance If one is lucky enough It might transcend the ages I have never been very lucky
The only thing that I have come to rely on Is music
Ridiculous really How that chord That note That stanza Can bring back repressed memories And mend or break the heart
