This is what I've written for my course this week. It's a bit hard to describe the task we were given. Basically we were given a piece of writing similar to this and told to do our own version. The original piece was about baking pie and having an operation. If you can't work out the two events I'm describing then I've done something wrong

Restoration

This'll soon make everything clean she thought as she poured a healthy amount of washing up liquid into the bowl. Beside her a large pile of dirty dishes sat waiting to be made clean, the food on them having dried into something she shuddered to put a name to. There were cups there too, with the last dredges of tea in the bottom. "Cup of tea?" She'd asked the policeman politely while he'd been covering her precious possessions with a silver dust which she just knew wasn't going to come off easily. Bad enough that so many of her things had been stolen, now what she had left was being ruined too. She scrubbed hard, trying to get everything to sparkle. She wanted no reminder of this mess. Everything needed to be clean. Her hands had become wrinkled, clearly having spent too long in the soapy water. "Do you have insurance?" She let the cold water run and began to hold the dishes underneath. The sooner it was finished the better. She just wanted these people gone and out of her house so that she could get everything tidied up. She wanted it back the way it was. Clean. But no matter how hard she scrubbed she knew that there would still be germs. Dirt that couldn't be seen. She supposed it would never be really clean again.

Well, Dave has finally told Dee that we're going out. Unfortunately she now thinks that he broke up with her to go out with me, which he says isn't true. We didn't get together until about 4 months after they broke up anyway. This, however, causes a problem since she is coming out for Tom's birthday at the weekend and me and Dave will both be there. Mucho awkwardness.

Shit!

Got NO sleep last night (again) as I was coughing so much. This is so annoying

It would also appear that another convention is running a Buffy cruise in 2005. Now I have to decide which one I want to go to. And it will probably mean guests will be doing one or the other. Not fair! Well, James will be the swinging factor...assuming he goes to one at all

I had a VERY sexy dream last night involving Spike/Angel kissage. I need to catch up on my slash now. Anyone want to give me some recs...preferably with no spoilers from this Season of Angel. Spec fics are fine though

I'm on an Effective Communication course today. Fun. Up-side is that I won't be at work, down-side is I'll probably be bored senseless

Ah well.

Week seems to be going pretty quickly which is good. Jacqui is away this weekend so I'm going to spend pretty much the whole time writing. I'm hoping to get Press-Ganged 6 finished and to have made some good progress on my Halloween ficathon entry

However, things rarely go as I plan :-S

I forgot to post last nights weird dream this morning

Leo from The West Wing was my boss and I was ranting to him that I was going to resign because my job was crap. Then I had to carve a pumpkin for Halloween. Whether this is because Leo made me or not I can't say

So, there was this total hottie on my course today and I ended up sat next to him. All was well until we had to do an exercise on personal space. I had to stand in the middle of the room, toe to toe with the hottie, and stare into his eyes for as long as possible without laughing or looking away

1. He had the most GORGEOUS blue eyes

2. Standing in that position with a hot guy of course leads to thoughts of kissing

So, I'm there in the middle of the room, toe to toe with this guy and I'm leaning as far back as possible because if I don't I'm going to jump him. I can feel my face getting redder and redder and he's trying not to laugh. Blah!

Anyway, after a few minutes we were told to sit down and I wanted to die

Alas, the story does not have a happy ending. The hottie turned out to have NOTHING in common with me. He was a total jock and all he wanted to talk about was football. Meh!

I think I might need to make a start on BSG Season 2 tonight. I'm just too damn excited

I've also had an idea for a Lee/Kara fic as well as an Archie Lives fic. Honestly, I wish I had the time for all this. It would be so much easier if I could spend all day every day watching TV and writing fanfic

I had a feeling this would happen. I'm back on the diet and I'm REALLY hungry. I think my body has become used to all the food I've been eating during the last month (I've had my birthday and 2 holidays all within a 3 week period). I've just had what was a normal lunch when I was dieting and I could eat it over again

Well, I'm two episodes in and it didn't end on a cliffhanger so I think it's best I stop now before I get sucked in and wind up staying awake all night. LOL

I know it's sort of comic book tradition to over emphasise womens assets but, seriously, some of the characters in this. Three of the female X-Men turned up looking all slutty and Black Cat looks like a porn star.

Other than that I liked it though. I really do need to read some more DC stuff. Pretty much all the comic trades I've read have been Marvel, because that's what people keep lending me. I've only read one Superman book (which was amazing!) and one Batman book (which was less amazing). Must read more.

Next on the list is Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean by Justin Stomper. I must confess to being exremely shallow when I bought this. It's called VAMPIRATES! Clearly this book was written for me! LOL. It's a children's book so I don't know that I'm going to get a whole lot out of it but if I enjoy it there's a load more in the series.

My icon making is on hold until I get these challenge fics done. I don't have time to do both, unfortunately :(

Was supposed to be going to a party with Jacqui tonight but have had to drop out. Mum-Ra is coming to visit tomorrow and she's going to be here at 9 which means I'm going to have to get up at 8 and leave at 8:30 to meet her.

Didn't really fancy doing that on a few hours sleep and with a hangover so I've stayed home. I'm actually feeling really tired anyway *is old*

Kelly Brook did her first dance on Strictly Come Dancing and she tied for first place with the judges. She looked so good! I think she just made it into my top 5 girl crushes. If I can find a clip of it I'll put it up later.

I think I shall have to make a Victoria icon later as I forsee much squeeing over Kelly in the coming weeks. She was so cute! All bouncy and excited about the whole thing.

What's a good episode to make a Victoria icon from?

I know I said no icons until my fic was done but I got a bit carried away trying to find an icon of Victoria that I liked. LOL. Typically it was the last one I made. I thought I may as well share them all in case anyone was interested

You know what pisses me off? Snobby geeks. There's one that works in my local comic shop and I hate going in there when he's working. He always looks at me with this air of disdain when he sees my Buffy and Angel comics, like they're not proper comics because they were a TV show first, and that I shouldn't be in his shop because I'm not a proper comics fan.

Urgh! Everyone else that works there is really nice. This guy just clearly thinks he should only be selling a certain type of comic to a certain type of person. I bet he's the type of guy who is only friends with other geeks and is incapable of having non-geek related conversation

And another thing. Why don't they make geeky t-shirts in fitted ladies sizes? Dave bought me this rather awesome t-shirt for my birthday but they only had them in standard (read male) sizes so it looks kind of shapeless on me

I welled up a bit when Clark comes to rescue Lex and he's all smiley and 'I knew you'd come'

Then the hug at the end *dies* I had to pretend my hay fever was bothering me in order to conceal my tears and sniffles

I am such a sap

Still, it's done now and that's the worst of it over

I miss Michael already. I want to meet him again

Today I wrote 1400 words of my spn_reversebang which means I'm over 1/3 towards the min word count. I am now less stressed about meeting the deadline although I will prob need a late posting date to ensure I have enough time to edit.

And I got a couple of my friends to read my sassy_minibang draft and they liked it so that's not a bust either.

YAY! Progress!

Really, even as someone who enjoys TVD, that is not a contest. Cas is a BAMF angel who kicks ass and takes names. Damon is a psychotic vampire who spends 50% of his time being an emo woobie.

I have purged my LJ of just about all my comms which is making my flist much easier to read. I shall try and keep up with this thing from now on.

Not much to report really. I've come down with con crud after the Hannibal con so I'm mostly sitting around feeling a bit sorry for myself.

I have, however, finally posted my hockey fic. Oh, god, I can't remember the last time I was this nervous.

The Truth About Cats, Dogs and Penguins

Went to the Post Office today for the first time in nearly 2 weeks and it was actually kind of nice. It's only a small PO. Only 3 people work there and after months of going in at least twice a week with piles of things to mail I've got to know them all pretty well. We always have a bit of a chat and a laugh. It helps to keep everyone's spirits up I think.

It's also nice to get back into my regular routine after having to isolate for a week. It definitely does good things for my mental health.

Last night I watched another episode of Love and Redemption which continues to be delightful. The levels of pining are still through the roof and we had more 'female character has to disguise herself as a man' shenanigans. It's just so much fun.

After dinner I had a Zoom call with the Newcastle gang because a few months back Abi and Kayleigh were on a reality show and last night it aired. I streamed it over Zoom so we could all watch together. It was a lot of fun. It was interesting talking to them afterwards about how it all worked and stuff (it was a show where two professional cleaners come and deep clean/tidy particularly messy and cluttered houses). For example the 'after' shot of the kitchen didn't mention that they boxed up all the counter top appliances like the toaster and kettle and put them out of shot to make the surfaces look more clear.

Anyway, it was fun.

This evening I need to make a start on beta reading this fic I said I would look at. I also totally forgot I've got translated Chinese web novel where someone copy/pasted all the text into a Word doc and I said I would tidy up the formatting so people can put it on their kindles etc. I've had it for weeks and I really need to crack on with it.

And while I was waiting for my laptop to boot up after work my friend Sarah texted and asked if I would do some more writing sprints with her this week. There goes my plans for procrastinating on starting my Lost Tomb fic :D
