Summary: Xiaoqiao doesn't know she doesn't know how to swim anymore and gets a little bit in trouble (or a lot)-- Lelouch to the rescue! Except he fails and then needs to be rescued too.

( It's really too wet to be outside but the weather has been driving guests away and unlike others dancers and musicians had little to do without guests. She was restless in a place far from home, mind and body. A little walk couldn't hurt, that's what she thought leaving the bathhouse and wandering into town.

And she sings a wandering melody, a poem turned into a song. )

Life, that's scarce a hundred years,
Holds millenniums of fears.
Brief its noon, and long its night--

Oh, wow! ( she's seen the Great River flood but she's never seen an entire town under water like this. )

If I actually had a boat I could go for a ride. ( she leans on the railings of the bridge leading out of the bathhouse, she really wasn't expecting something to try to pull her in. She manages to take a gasping breath before she ends up in the water, thrashing to loose the grip of whatever caught her.

That works and it would have been simple, should have been simple, for her to swim back to safety. She's a southerner, what kind of southerner couldn't swim?

Kagayaku, apparently. She manages to pull her head above water with a few desperate splashes of her limbs to get another gulp of air but she's sinking again too soon. She splashes violently again, beyond the just the edge of panic now. She was going to drown, in a place where no one knew where she came from, unable to recall the face of the one person she loves the most.

As if she would let that happen without a fight. )

HELP--!

( she swallows a mouthful of water before she can pull herself high enough again. ) My lord, where are you!
