Challenge #5
In your own space, promote a canon/talk about a part of canon that you love. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Again and again, in Tolkien's Legendarium, there is a passage that suddenly comes up again and clutches at your heartstrings and, reading, you seem to hear it as if for the first time.
One came up today, as I read Oshun's latest character biography - Oshun is very good at picking out such quotes.
Thus the days of Tar-Palantir became darkened with grief; and he would spend much of his time in the west, and there ascended often the ancient tower of King Minastir upon the hill of Oromet nigh to Andúnië, whence he gazed westward in yearning, hoping to see, maybe, some sail upon the sea. But no ship came ever again from the West to Númenor, and Avallónë was veiled in cloud.
Reading, I felt Tar-Palantir's weariness, having struggled so hard so long to turn his people's fate around, worn out and not rewarded with the sight of even a single Elven ship.
Oshun's bios are published in the monthly newsletter of the Silmarillion Writers Guild Archive and archived in the References section.
