hobbitofkobol won first place in the drabble contest a couple weeks back. I placed in a three-way tie for second. We got massive points for winning, participation and voting! Great job everyone!

Pwnfest is in the works. It's about a month and a half away. Keep the awesomeness coming, and since I can't say it enough: You guys rock the cashba!

Okay, a few announcements for you all today:

1) Voting for last week's "random" hh_housecup challenge is open here until Tuesday.
2) End of term means PwnFest. Selene and Maggie are looking for some volunteers to help out. Check it out here and sign up before June 28.

Okay, it seems that we Eagles all enjoy art in some form. So, which is your favorite? Poetry? Music? Sculpture? Acting? And who is your favorite artist of your favorite art? 

For me, it is a toss up between music and poetry. I thrive on music. I don't know how to play a piano properly, but I can get the basic tune of a song within the first 3 times of hearing it and play that basic tune on the piano. I love to sing. I would give my right arm to get a try out for either Nashville Star or American Idol (althought, I loathe Simon and I fear him, so Nashville Star would be much better). I also love poetry. I write it (click here to see some of my poetry) and read it. Writing, in general is a big escape for me. 

As for favorites, well, music I cannot pick just one. My music preferences are so eclectic that I cannot pinpoint a single person or group as a favorite. Garth Brooks rocks! Kid Rock is awesome! Sophie B. Hawkins rocks out loud! Hell, I even like Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Lynard Skynard, etc. etc. etc. About the only music you will very rarely find me listening to is rap. I do enjoy Eminem and Tupac, but that is about it. For writing/poetery, I enjoy Edgar Allen Poe and Frost. I also enjoy Stephen King and James Patterson (I know, not poets, but great authors). 

So, those are my picks. Okay, Eagles, what about you? What and who do you enjoy?

Sorry fellow Claws! I haven't been around much lately and I apologize. I will begin sorting shortly! Real life is just really busy right now!

Why did you join Hogwarts Home?:

I’ve been pretty much a lurker in the Harry Potter community for some time now. This is my way of jumping in and getting involved.

Also, sorting communities have always interested me. I decided on Hogwarts Home instead of others because it’s still growing and it seems “safe” in the way that the members don’t seem like they’re in it just to flame people. In my time as a lurker, I’ve seen a surprising number of sorting communities that are simply flaming grounds. Nobody here was extremely rude so I joined!

Why do you think you were put in Ravenclaw?:

I’m always analyzing and daydreaming, my brain’s never at rest. I love books and I like to think of myself as logical. I pretty much have all the traits, and also a few more : )

I’m a Ravenclaw inside and out!

Where are you going to be active in this community?:

One of the things that interest me about sorting communities is the classrooms, so I’ll definitely be active there. I’ll also participate in the house cup activities and the sorting.

My goal here is to make new friends, so I’ll try to be as active as I can be.

Tell us about yourself!:

I’m in High School and see a tutor one on one each week for my studies. I recently applied to volunteer at a botanical garden because I’m infatuated with flowers and would like to know how to actually grow them without them dying within a week.

I’m also an entertainment junkie. My favorite television show with always be Buffy the Vampire Slayer, although Arrested Development is also a favorite. Since those two shows are over now (damn you FOX!) I watch Veronica Mars obsessively every week. I could write essays and essays on those three shows, but I won’t scare you guys away.

I’m not as in to movies as TV, but I’ll watch Love, Actually every time it’s on HBO and I own Garden State for when I’m home sick and eating chicken noodle soup.

I’m obsessed with all things Jenny Lewis, so naturally my favorite band is Rilo Kiley. My favorite singer is Tori Amos because she is a genius.

So yes, my life consists around television and music. I’m so thrilling, as you can now see.
