News from the World of Hex

  • Started a new temp job this week doing tech support for Albert Einstein Healthcare System, here in Philly.

  • Am waiting to hear if I have the statistical porgrammer job at a research firm in the suburbs. Fingers crossed.

  • After an awesome run during all of May in poker tournaments on PokerStars, inlcuding a 5th place finish in the nightly $3.30 + R which was good for my biggest cash ever ($990) and a return on investment in tournament play in excess of 60%, it's been a disappointing June. On the bright side, I have 6 final table finishes in June, 5 in the top 3 (Limit Omaha, Limit Razz, and Limit Triple Draw 2-7 Lowball), including one first place finish (in Limit Triple Draw 2-7 Lowball). So if nothing else, the quality of my play is still quite high. Here's hoping my July results are better still. :)

"There can be only one!"

And it was me!

For only the 2nd time in my poker "career" I've placed 1st in a full-size, open tournament. This time, it was in Limit 5-Card Draw.

I've been on something of a tear lately. First this, then a couple of cashes in some re-buy tournaments, which up until now have been losers for me. I'm starting to improve in some areas of my game, like stack management around the middle of the tournament, and it's paying off.
