i will admit that unlike most very thin people in media she actually looks like she might be MEANT to be built that way, unless its photo shopped, which i am terrible at spotting.. but at least she doesnt look starving, just..... very thin built.

i seem to recall that i USED to be thin like that, mind you i was 16..... still the girl is only 19. opinions? is that a reasonable goal "look" for any of us? those of you who have seen me know i am built a bit big in teh ribs and shoulders to be that thin as an adult, but is it a fair type of goal for me? or would that look be "unhealthy" for me to aim for?

(i always think photos of models look too thin, so i really cant tell)

sales post: group order?

I know a lot of us try to practice portion control..... and a few of us like Bento Boxes for just that reason....
well.......

Laptop Lunchboxes are not  traditional Bento, but they do work.......
are made in the usa
and are having a sale....

if you buy a case of 24, you can buy them at half off retail (suggested retail, i paid more for mine)
so i thought it might work if we got a group order going?  Xmas gifts or not, its a good deal.

the black case with the red interior trays are my favorite (very japanese) but all of them are nice.

now obviously shipping could eat up the savings, but i travel... a lot... so many of you could pick your set up at a show......

the diet thing

well i am now aiming for 80% of my food from vegetables and fruit and etc. mostly leafy and other greens.
have decided that any bread i eat from now on will be actual "whole grain" or i wont touch it.  if it has white flour in it i wont.
may have to finish the loaf of "half and half" (whole grains but has white flour also) first.

have cut the caffeine down to one hot tea, one iced tea.. daily... ish sometimes i have no iced tea, sometimes i have two.

AAAAAAAnd, since i need to get leafy greens more often, i am going to get my bicycle fixed up and bike to the store to buy the greens.. which will increase my exersize..

Blah blah blah, diet, blah blah blah ankles

the ankle pain and idiocy is keeping me from walking or exercising much right now.... so i will just live with that.

as to the attempt to get my diet back on track:
well, i dont think i have cut down so much on calories as i would like, but i HAVE upped the water and vegetable intake a LOT... and cut way down on the completely empty calories.

i have also gotten back into the Apple Cider Vinegar  (ACV) and dash of honey in water drink.
do i think its a miracle cure all? no.. but i like it, its good for my electrolyte balance, and its WAY better than diet soda for my teeth and etc.

i need to get more leafy greens back in my diet, and usually the way to do that is making fruit and veggie shakes. so i have to get off my duff and get the blender back out.

i had the very bad shock of measuring my waist for a skirt.  that hurt.  its basically at about 40 inches.  i know i dont LOOK like its at 40 inches thanks to my shoulders being as big as they are, but on me? thats too much belly weight.  i am aiming at a 30-32 inch waist i think.... with muscle building thats do-able on me.. i am fairly sure.

Blah blah blah, diet, blah blah blah ankles

my ankles are not healing as quickly as they should. this is more than slightly annoying to me.  it has been suggested by a few people that the excess fluid may be part of a nasty circular loop thing.....
injure ankle, get fluid build up, fluid build up keeps ankle joints mis aligned.. etc

in any event, partly as a "get weight off the ankles" and partly as a "reduce fluid build up"  and partly because i really should do something about my diet......i am going back onto a better diet.
while this USUALLY results in my losing weight, it isnt just about that.  i will be going onto a mostly vegetable, high leafy greens, etc diet starting. well... earlier today.... sort of

i picked up some more Braggs Cider Vinegar (i swear by the stuff for summer, its the ONLY thing that kept my electrolytes in balance last year)
got some collard greens, and have made room to get the blender back in action.

so i will be doing a sort of fast from most of the refined products, and doing a much more vegetable heavy diet, plus forcing fluids like crazy.  if this goes like it has before i should be able to get some weight off, and get myself properly hydrated and ready for Pennsic.

i will be posting about this to the group </a></b></a>healthy_losers , and to my own LJ ( but under either a filter or at least an Lj cut.)

if i happen to be slightly more spacey than usual (or less so i hope) or a touch cranky in the next few days, i hope you will bear with me.... getting cut down on caffeine and etc is never a thrill, ya know?

that peanut recall

There is/ has been a recall of peanuts from one manufacturing plant owing to filthy conditions and salmonella contamination.  i trust most of you have heard about this.  however here is the FDA LINK for information.

Please be informed, its not just peanut butter.... if you eat meal bars that contain peanuts they may be affected (my Luna bars  and Atkins bars were, my South Beach bars were not) as well as other items.

Crazy Richards peanut butter is NOT affected.

always read labels

This isnt about the merits of artificial sweeteners, or one over the other. this is a warning about labeling laws, or lack there of.

my hubby can tolerate Splenda, but is violently allergic to nutrasweet.  this is the second time a change in ingredients from splenda to Nutrasweet has happened in a product we have eaten for years. with NO notice.

(Lipton iced tea straws, the kind you put in bottled water. in fact the webpage still says its splenda)

friends have reported buying heavy cream, that suddenly had skim milk as an ingredient (a bad thing for the  lactose intolerant).  my pre shredded cheese turns out to have a "natural mold inhibitor" added that i am allergic to. etc etc etc.
so every time you buy ANY product, check the ingredients

new sweeteners on market

i know a few of us drink diet drinks, or other diet products and thought you might need the heads up...
IF you react badly to Aspartame, or just dont like it.. Monsanto has made a new ish product called "neotame" which is chemically related.
it does not require the phenylkenoturic warning label, so my hubby almost missed it.....
hubby gets screaming migraines from Aspartame, but doesnt drink sugared drinks.. so we usually are quite careful.

if you are ok with Aspartame this is likely to be just "more of the same" but if you have a problem with it you need to know.
hubby whouseknecht has a rant about this with links on his LJ for those who need to know more.

Confessions

I've been off my proper eating habits for too long now.  I had been at 208 (or 228 depending on when to call start) for my high.  I'd been at 158 for my low.

I'm now at 185.  Time to get back into the swing.

My journal is ready.  My equipment is being hauled up and dusted.  Monday is start time.
adorable Callahan, tehcute

Well, I backslid a little over vacation, but not so much that I'm worried about it (I'm also fairly close to my period, so that could be part of it as well). I'm home and back "on the wagon", so we'll see what this week brings.
