I love a plotty fic where either the romance is in the background of a larger story or there is a strong B-plot to support the romance. I love mysteries (doesn’t need to be a case fic), things that delve into magical theory. I love both lighter and heavier stories. If light, humour more than fluff, with a bit of angst mixed in. For more serious stories, a good dose of comfort or a bit of humour to balance things out (and a happy ending!). I love a strong plot where the plot is still character-driven.
 
Tropes, etc.: forced proximity, second-chance romance, mutual pining/denial, fake dating as long as it’s not too slapstick, secret identities, creatures. I like them as rivals or friends; I think it can be fun when they’ve been separated for a while and are just coming together again. I love when they’re coworkers but I also love when one of them has to keep finding excuses to see the other. Also I love when at least some of the canon-era friendship lines are crossed, like Draco and Ron have got close or Hermione and Blaise are work buddies.
 
Characterisation: Very open, but a few preferences: I’m partial to smart, weird, neurotic Draco. Whether he’s book smart or canny, fully good or morally grey, etc. is up to you/the story. I tend to envision Harry with ADHD, but beyond that I’m flexible. Is he awkward? Is he prickly? Is he unhinged? All good. I prefer neither of them be truly cruel, even if they’re enemies. (Also I have a Wavy-Haired Draco Agenda, do with that what you will.)

Smut: whatever fits the characters and mood of the story. Things I particularly like: a push and pull between them (this is probably the most important part, and I absolutely see them as equals), FINGERS IN MOUTH, a little scar kink is nice but not necessary, talkative Draco, teasing/begging, edging, if BDSM please include aftercare. I like them vers, but it’s not a requirement.

Content I would rather not receive:

Noncon including past noncon unless very minor (brief mentions fine, but not a storyline). Classic DAO Draco where he is truly reviled and/or needs to be saved by Harry isn’t my favourite. I would prefer pregnancy/children aren’t the central plot. I don’t like dark Draco or dark Harry (morally grey is fine). AUs are not my fave. I’d prefer no memory loss.

Smut DNWs: incest, underage, large age gaps, BDSM with truly horrible etiquette (they don’t need to be perfect)

Secondary characters I'd love to see involved:

Whatever the fic needs! I happily multiship everybody but Drarry. A few ideas: I’m rather fond of Ron/Pansy; I enjoy when Hermione is a little bit of a mess or chaotic; if Weasleys are involved I enjoy when Draco gets along decently with them, whether he’s close to Harry or not; building up an underutilised character is always fun.

They’ve been out of touch (or only distant acquaintances) since the war. One of them develops some weird chronic medical issue (maybe related to dark magic exposure?), and the other is the only specialist who has a chance to fix it. (Honestly can see either of them in either role, and while there’s an inherent medical ethics issue that I’m fine with, I’d prefer it be addressed in the story.)

One is an auror/investigator and one is … something else (whatever you need for the plot). They end up having to work together with the second brought in to consult on a case. I have two thoughts here: either they’re frenemies/rivals and end up working well together, or they’re somewhat close friends but working together drags up problems (one hates his job, one always wanted to be an auror, family issues, etc.).

Love an adhd harry, and a high functioning anxious draco. I love all the little quirks and hobbies and rituals of life - give draco a specific tea ritual, make harry keep a penknife in his pocket and whittle sticks to keeps his hands busy, anything like that! I love harry being powerful with just sheer force of magic and draco being powerful because he learned to be. Soft but only for each other (and a select few friends of course)

Content I would love: My favourites are always those forced proximity, idiots in love type fics that are a mix of humour and a tiny bit of angst thrown in. They could be forced to work together or be in a situation together because of their friends, or when one of them is an expert in something and gets called in for help. I love all of the secret pining when they’re so oblivious to the fact that they’re actually both obsessed with each other. When they’re winding each other up all the time. I also like a second chance fic where they already have history with each other, like they had a drunken hook up or something that happened in 8th year and now they’re meeting again and they’re absolutely thrown a loop by it.

I don’t mind whose POV but whoever’s POV it is they can’t get over how attractive the other one is. I like a casually magically powerful Harry and Draco being so attracted to it, even though Harry probably doesn’t even use it for anything useful. Also like any sort of accidental bonding fic or anything where they’ve been forced together like ‘there was only one bed’ trope. Fake dating or having to pretend they’re together for some reason, or even when others assume they’re together but they’re not. A little bit of miscommunication is fine. A sprinkle of jealousy from one or both of them.

Love when they finally hook up and are just desperate for each other, like there’s been lingering touches and looks all night. I like Draco when he’s competent but also a touch dramatic in his inner monologue if it’s his POV. Love banter between them, a good back and forth of sarcasm or arguing as foreplay. Like either of them confident or flirty, like when one of them propositions the other and the other one melts from how forward they’ve been.

I don’t mind what job you want to put them in— I always find colleagues or professors fun, or where one of them is an expert at something. Or even if they don’t have jobs because they’re unsure what to do with their life and spend time doing some obscure hobby.

If you wanted to include smut (some would be great but not PWP), like a little sprinkle of praise kink and any sort of smut really as long as it’s not really extreme kinks. Any of the top/bottom or versatile dynamics between them are fine with me, but no BDSM.

Also, you don’t have to write a super long fic! I love longer one shots and would be more than happy to receive something on the shorter side.

Content I would rather not receive: heavy bdsm, mpreg, watersports, MCD or really sad, emotional fics. Divorced dads with children are fine but don’t want lots of focus on the kids. Content I would love: Genres I love are humour and wit, fluff, romance, hurt/comfort, angst, pining (I’m totally down to cry while reading if there’s a happy ending) and fix-it fics. I love a good romantasy - I would love some adventure where the sub plot is them falling in love. I’m a sucker for a morally grey, obsessed with his love MMC. Or a punk rock bad boy.

That being said, I also love to see some classic romance if that’s more your speed - flirting, gifts and surprises, intimate moments, kisses that spark fireworks. Give me nerdy cinnamon rolls who just want to love each other and be loved!

I love seeing unusual occupations for the boys (typical occupations are totally fine too though!) and I love when they have special interests that feature in the story (like playing an instrument, gardening, collecting antique butter dishes, show me all their hobbies and interests!). Some tropes and dynamics I love are Harry being spoiled by Draco, idiots to lovers, kid fics, fake-dating, adventure and mystery, soulmates,or a good angsty arranged marriage where they grow to love each other. I love works where Harry learns basic things that everyone else knew growing up, like the fact that you need to buy broom insurance to fly it off private property. I love seeing them both grow into adults and learn that they can be so much more than the character roles they fit into at school.

Features I adore in fics are sex-ed discussions (gender, sexuality, relationships, the mechanics and safety around sex, consent) and healthy relationship discussions (doesn’t have to be limited to romantic/sexual relationships), family dynamics, especially healthy parenting (biological/legal or found family are both great), magical bonds, world building, magical theory/ academia (discussions of plants, potions, magical creatures, magical history, the workings of the magical world).

For NSFW/Kinky work, most kinks that don’t have strong power dynamics or irregular bodily fluids (blood, scat, waterplay) involved are fun! Love a sassy brat or just some fun banter. If you’re going NSFW, I would love to see someone work through internalized guilt relating to sex. Could also be cool to see neurodivergent characters adapting sex to work for their needs. But also just straight up good time smut is always great.

Content I would rather not receive: I’m not a big fan of OC children for them, I’m rather attached to their canon kids if they have kids at all (though alternative birth-parents for those kids is fine if you don’t wanna go epilogue compliant!).

- Harry is nominated to be Minister for Magic, does not WANT to be Minister for Magic, figures if he’s too scandalous he won’t be elected. Maybe this is fake-dating Draco (ex-Death Eater boyfriend would ruin his reputation), maybe this is Wild Child Harry whose orbit now crosses the path of Wild Child Draco, maybe Harry asks Draco for help in ruining his golden reputation (is Draco delighted to drag Harry down? is he secretly dying inside because he hates his past but he pretends everything is okay because anything to help Harry?). ....A combination of these ideas, or another something I haven’t thought of?

Things I love in visual content: Focus on color & light, surreal/metaphorical/not-strictly-literal interpretation of real events & taking significant liberties with this, if comic—I LOVE when one panel in the middle of several realistic panels is surreal, visual storytelling (!!!), use of varying styles/techniques to set the mood of the scene, lots of emotion (quiet or loud!), super hot stuff/explicit content employing a more surreal/unexpected visual style, very intricate images OR very simple images.

Okay but yes, angsty forced bonding with a heavy sexual/emotional requirement for the bond—when they are otherwise antagonists, or have not worked through their history, is probably my number one! I also ADORE stories that explore/invent magical theory, and go kind of hard in doing so—particularly when that magical theory has to do with nature/earth/leylines/weather/creatures/ecosystem in a more fairytale/mythological bent vs a scientific one—would LOVE some magical academia necromancy, or any detailed exploration of dark magic. Really like sex-as-character-study vibe, love dark (but not evil) harry, LOVE a magical adventure, or a "going into the underworld and having to return" narrative (the underworld can be metaphorical or literal!). I like if Harry and Draco have to accomplish a task or journey together (this can be small task or journey!), but not in a traditional casefic context. Lovely, weird, sad, weird, filthy, tender, kinky, cathartic sex. :) Body-horror (but not like, gruesome body-horror, more like bizarre/eerie/mythological). I love the body being both the site of trauma & healing as a theme, and when Harry and/or Draco have issues fitting inside their bodies for whatever reason, but by the end of their arc(s), have come home to roost. Anything incorporating mythology/folklore. I've been dying for a fic about sphinxes for some reason, oh and mazes and labyrinths. HOLE THEORY. Victorian gothic & cosmic dread, hand-in-hand. Lastly (but not leastly)! I love a fic that deals with the question of complicated inheritance, and what you do with the things given to you by people that came before.

In terms of their characterizations, I really do like a weird, tempestuous, "feels-too-much" Draco. I like when he's terrible at hiding this just as much as I like when he's excellent at hiding it! I prefer a Harry who has a lot of darkness in him, but just as much light. I love love love slutty Harry.

Content I would rather not receive: Pure fluff, or PWP. A memory loss, time loop, time travel or alternate dimension(s) fic. Muggle AU or Sports AU. Whump. Any sort of wasting disease or terminal illness. To heal himself, he arranges to spend a month with unicorn animagus & conservationist Draco Malfoy & a miracle of unicorns, but when unicorns start dying/disappearing one by one, the unhappy couple must venture out into the unknown to confront beasts both without & within. (also, thestral animagus hjp?? maybe??)

- slice of life AU where one is the prince of a kingdom, and the other is his magician, and the primary form of magic is moon rituals.

- The summer hikaru died ( x witch hat atelier (optionally)), but make it drarry !!

To give context to the last prompt:

(This is technically spoilers for both shows, but also very minimally--just the basic premise that is revealed in the first episode of both!)

The Summer Hikaru died is an anime about two boys who live in a rural Japanese town. During the summer, one of the boys gets lost on the mountain that the town is built around the base of, and is eventually found after a frantic search. A month (or so) later, his best friend asks him "okay but who are you really" and its revealed that the boy really had died, and his body was taken over by an eldritch monster. Cue lots of queer body horror, longing, and confusion. As it relates to drarry, I was basically just envisioning Harry came back from death eldritch and wrong and Draco is the only one who can see it, but with hot, oppressive summer vibes xD

As for Witch Hat Atelier, the premise is that magic is thought to be a gift limited to specific people, but actually anyone can use it, if they know the secret (the magic is carried in special inks, pens, and symbols they draw). Also, everyone wears highly detailed European-folk/medieval/utilitarian clothing that is a massive centerpiece of the show's vibe, including pointy/elaborate masks and hats! For how this would blend with the above, I'm not really sure, but I love all elements of it, and would adore a fic that included any!

Content I would love: Emotional porn: I find this difficult to describe, but I trust you know vaguely what I mean. I'm particularly fond of passions that seem unrequited, or at least a general resignation in the individual suffering them that it's hopeless - you know, pining. On the other hand, I also really like 'courting', so I'm fairly easy. Aside from romance, I like general character introspection: how does so-and-so feel about $Thing? I don't demand much in the way of plot (unless you enjoy writing plot, in which case it is a very nice bonus), so long as there's suitable focus on the characters' inner lives. I also love it when the Wizarding World is like another character in a work. And blatant tropiness: Oh no we have to share a bed, oh no we've been affected by sex pollen, oh no I'm an omega in heat, oh no we have to pretend to be married...You know, if the spirit moves you. Also little things like sharing clothes, the intimacy of knowing somebody really well, the intimacy of noticing little revealing details about somebody you don't know well, unidealised bodies, the word 'tender'.
Content I would rather not receive: Therapyspeak. I don't really buy that any of these characters would talk about establishing their boundaries etc. In that vein, I'm totally happy for how these characters conceive of their homo/bisexual identities to be mentioned in fic in appropriate terms, but I don't want inappropriately modern/Muggle terminology (are Harry or Draco likely to describe themselves as demiromantic pansexuals?) or for the identity to be the focus of the fic. Word of JKR says the Wizarding world is not homophobic, though Harry's Muggle primary school would have been, so it could be interesting to mention. Also, if Harry's relationship with Ginny doesn't work out, no need to be unpleasant about her (though Harry might understandably be uncharitable!).
Secondary characters I'd love to see involved: Ron, Hermione, Pansy. Don't mind if Ron and Hermione are together or if you go rogue and pair Hermione with Viktor Krum, so long as the Trio are solidly friends by the end. I wouldn't want Pansy to be too nice unless there's an explanation for her abrupt change. Discussion of Snape (or his appearance in a school-set fic) would be interesting. And if you're taking the epilogue as canon, their kids should definitely appear!

I love whimsical bakeries and stores, and ghibli-style food always makes me nostalgic.

I also love to write when Harry’s a total mess and doesn’t realize his feelings at all, and has to wade through a bunch of unpleasantness first, which Draco flatly refuses to assist him in (and in fact, makes himself as much a hindrance as possible). I love to explore Harry’s complicated feelings about Draco’s Sectumsempra scars - his guilt for casting the curse and hurting Draco, his admiration for Draco’s body, how he deals with shame and arousal without making it Draco’s issue to placate. I also really enjoy writing a Draco who is psychologically a bit bruised but nonetheless determined to make a good life for himself, and is generally succeeding.

Delving into his history, Harry finds that his maternal grandmother's line (in India) is known for a certain magical power or fable. Wanting to learn how to access the magic/follow the tale, Harry does his best impression of Hermione and visits the Ministry Library which directs him to the ICW Library housed in a foreign country. There he finds all the help he could possibly want (and not want) in the form of the lead Archivist, Draco Malfoy.

Harry has a mysterious (or very regular) injury which he needs to be monitored during recovery. Everyone is too busy with their full lives (kids, work, travel) to watch him full-time. After one week/month of being shunted around from place to place, Luna decides Harry can spend the rest of his convalescence with hermit (or give him a fun profession) Draco. She drops him off and trouble ensues.

A theft gone wrong at a magical reserve leads to several golden snidget escaping from the reserve and flying through Muggle Britain. Birdwatchers everywhere are flocking to Britain to catch sight of a newly discovered bird species. Magizoologist Harry (or Draco) must hunt down the escapees and return them to safety with the help of the Ministry's Obliviator (Draco/Harry) who is trying to stay ahead of the story before the Statute of Secrecy is broken.

They meet Character B again by chance and Character B becomes Character A’s main support in relearning how to live and they fall in love in the process. 3. After the Battle of Hogwarts Draco wasn’t allowed to finish his studies at Hogwarts (no marked DE was allowed back) so he left Britain to finish his studies. Now (5/10/15 etc.) Years later he has returned to the UK for his job. Initially he is working with someone else but something happens and he has to start working with Harry. At first they are bickering/arguing constantly and barely get any work done.

Settings I would love to see: Hogwarts, the Ministry, flying on brooms, trains, automobiles, road trips, cozy homes, cafés, libraries, city streets, or magical landscapes. I'm happy with canon, Muggle AU, movie-inspired, or fantasy settings.
Mood, colors, ~vibe I love in visual content: Green is my favorite color. I love cozy, hopeful, whimsical, and adventurous pieces with lots of warmth, natural light, plants, forests, or rainy weather.
