So what brings me back? I finally got through to my muse, renegotiated its contract, and got it back to work. However, all the new union rules makes me doubt how much work I can get out of it, what will all the mandatory breaks and vacation time and such.
Nonetheless, I do have a little bit of Spygate fic, an old idea I finally finished up tonight. It's a simple little story, but I'd like it to go through a review before I post it. Anyone up for a quick beta?
This is where I discuss a political issue, even though I'm trying to talk about some legitimate science.
Environmentalism is an issue that I have a bit of interest in, in that I like to try to get past the general hype and doomsday prophecies from the enviromentalists to learn some of the real facts of the issue. And this new report out of Israel certainly has an important take on the subject, one that is being wrongly overlooked because it doesn't tow the line of the "concensus".
My roommate got a ten day free trial when he bought World of Warcraft, and has been trying to tempt me with it for a couple months now. I hadn't accepted, because I was too busy with school and work to do much of anything else.
Well, school is done. I was supposed to work overtime Saturday, only to get told as soon as I arrived to go back home because there wasn't any actual work for us to do. So I had nothing to do Saturday afternoon, and gave the game a spin.
I shut it off at 3am, because I had to be up at 6:30. Yeah, this is gonna be terrible.
Well, I have graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. The school held a simple little ceremony, where our newscast and air checks were played for all to see and hear.
Now, the real work begins. It’s time to start working in the studios or taking cameras out into the field, building up demos to use in applying for jobs. And sometime soon, I should be starting a (probably unpaid) internship, ideally with a local TV station. But my first order of business is to get a copy of that newscast. I promised the folks I did it on that I’d get them a copy.
Perhaps the biggest immediate positive is that I will no longer be away from home for fourteen to sixteen hours every single weekday. That’ll be just once or twice a week now.
I’m sick. I dunno what I’ve got, but I can barely breath and my head feels like it’s been pumped to 100 psi. Which is an improvement over this morning, when my teacher sent me home from school. I was off work, so I napped for six hours. I woke up feeling better, but am still just a little bit woozy.
Both my sisters were sick in the week leading up to Christmas. I guess I get New Years.
We shot our news broadcast yesterday. It went fairly well, at least as far as amateur hour goes. We recorded the whole thing for later editing, and did very un-news-like retakes. We went into the editing studio today to polish up the whole thing, put in yesterday’s tape, and find that there’s no sound. It seems that the tape was loaded into the wrong deck. There are three decks in the control room, but only one to record audio. The others are only for playback. It’s not my fault though, the instructor who was running the tape decks. So now we have to redo the whole thing next Friday, which should have been an off day for us. We should be a little sharper this time, though.
I hope everybody enjoyed their Christmases as much as I did. I hope none of you had your power go out for fourty minutes on Christmas night, though. Playing cards by candle light can be fun.
I have to go to the Texas Department of Transportation to get my drivers lisence renewed first thing in the morning. It expired on my birthday, which is of course a very inconvenient day to take care of such a thing. Maybe I look into this "internet" thing to take care of it next time.
