Why is that the case?

Various things LJ has done over the past few years have finally led me to think enough is really enough. In particular I can no longer trust it with any private content.

Why don't you just delete your account entirely?

Several reasons. One, I will still watch friends' journals and communities, and post in those places too, though any fic I post will now be linked to Dreamwidth (DW) or Archive of Our Own (AO3). Two, see the below question.

Hey, where did that fic I bookmarked go?

Any fic I posted here before the move has had a re-direct link set up. Yes, the entry itself has been deleted, but if you left a comment there, you'll still be able to find it on the DW page as I imported those comments from here to there. This should hopefully not have disrupted your Memories setting too much. You won't be able to comment on them here, as I've disabled all commenting, but you can still use OpenID on DW, comment there anonymously (it would be nice if you were to sign your name there at any rate) and AO3 has both those options too.

I've left commenting open here in case you have any other queries.

This is my last cross-post to LJ from DW. Have not been happy with Hell-Jay for a while, and have taken small moves to break those ties, but this link, gacked from awils1 just takes the cake completely:

The short story? Nasty LJ staffers are getting into people's locked posts. That's right. Locked posts. Oh, and there's that small matter of deleting people's accounts if they complained about it. More details there in.

Straw that broke the camels back. I've just gone through, imported new comments, and then deleted all entries except fic, which I've set up now so they have redirects on them instead of the body of text. All comments have been disabled there (this post and a header post I just made excepted), and I'll no longer be cross-posting to LJ. I'll still read entries over there, and interact with communities, but any fic I write will be linked back to hear or AO3.

Anyone who will still be staying on LJ and wants to follow me - some options:

* someone will have to set up a feed for it which I can't do as I don't have a paid LJ. (And funnily enough, I don't want to get one just in order to do.)

* RSS syndication: http://hammerxsword.dreamwidth.org…

* get a DW account and just use it to set up so you can track updates via email.

You can go to dw_codesharing to pick up some codes, or ask me. Currently I only have two spare, but am sure I can get more.
