Monday: Performance poetry at the SkyDragon

Hey writers, poets, and fans of books or spoken word:

If you're free this Monday night, come check out She Rusty Sleep!
It's a fairly new monthly series that showcases the best poets and spoken-word artists in Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area, hosted by Kevin Fortnum. There's also an open mic, so if you've got a poem or a short written work to share, bring it and impress the audience with your words.

(And if you're the type who thinks that poetry readings are nothing but boring, monotonous recitations about nature and kittens, well, the headliners this month will surprise you. They know how to put on a show.)

The June features will be two stars of the Toronto scene: slam icon Truth Is.... and satirical performance artist Jeff Cottrill.

Sunday: LiT LiVe!

Any fans of spoken word, poetry, or literary readings here?

If you are one, check out the next LiT LiVe this weekend.
It's an acclaimed monthly reading series in Hamilton put on by the Kairos Literary Society.

The September 2 features include YA novelist Jean Rae Baxter, fiction writer F.B. André, poet/novelist Stephen Gill, spoken-word artist Jeff Cottrill and author/playwright Judith Robinson.
Click here for photos and full bios of the features.

LiT LiVe happens Sunday at the Bread & Roses Cafe in the Sky Dragon Centre, at 27 King William Street in downtown Hamilton (between James and Hughson).
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp, and admission is free.

So come on out! It'll be a night of wonderful literature and performance.

Jolly Rogers CDs

Anyone want some free Jolly Rogers CDs.

You can listen to them, you can laugh at them, you can use them as wall decorations.

I've got like 500 of them in my closet.

Does anyone even know who the Jolly Rogers were? :P
