I don’t know if this is an obvious take or a hot take, but I think people need to start re-framing feminism as the fight for body autonomy as opposed to whatever this second wave revival gender essentialist bullshit we have going on right now. Once you reframe it in this way, it’s easier to understand intersectionality and why cis women are not the only people who need feminism. The lack of body autonomy effects cis women, trans people, intersex people, disabled people, poc, homeless people, sex workers, etc. and your feminism needs to include and prioritise all of these groups of people (which will include men btw) because feminism is about autonomy, not about establishing a matriarchy. Body autonomy is the biggest threat to the patriarchy, both with reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and even the right to not be drafted into military services. Once body autonomy is established for everyone, the patriarchy no longer has a leg to stand on.

And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.

Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.

TERFs are some of the biggest opponents to body autonomy, and if you find yourself thinking “oh people can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t harm them or make others uncomfortable” then you are far more susceptible to TERF propaganda than you think.

I do not headcannon Ralsei as trans, I am simply reading the text and extrapolating meaning from what it says, this is a reading, bordering on a theory, bordering on the simple act of just reading whereby you gain understanding from what the words mean when put together. I do not need to headcannon Ralsei as trans, the text lays out enough for it to be a valid interpretation of the work, I do not need to insert something into the cannon that otherwise wont effect it, it is something which can be pulled from the cannon as it is currently presented.

When a character expresses conflict over their identity in a way not yet resolved, experiments with their presentation and uses different gendered terms, when different pronouns are sometimes used for them, when that character is trying to fulfil a specifically male role laid out for them from birth even as they don’t enjoy the role, and so much more, then headcannoning is the wrong term. I am not just saying I think it would be cool if Ralsei was trans, I am deriving an understanding of the character in the context the text presents them in. I think Ralsei being trans can be textually taken as part of their arc and could even become more blatant in not outright stated in future chapters.

Every day feels like a nightmare that never ends.

My name is Suhaila, and I am a mother of five children.

I spend every moment beside my little daughter Mira's hospital bed, holding her tiny hand and praying that she survives. Mira is undergoing urgent surgeries, and her iron level has dropped to just 6, leaving her little body dangerously weak. She urgently needs medicine and specialized medical treatment. We have been told that she needs treatment abroad, but the border crossing is closed, and she cannot leave to receive the care that could save her life. As her mother, I feel helpless as I watch her suffer, unable to give her the treatment she desperately needs.

At the same time, my family is living through another heartbreaking tragedy. Our home was completely destroyed, my husband was injured and can no longer work, and my children have gone for days without enough food. We have almost nothing left to eat, and every day they ask me for food that I cannot provide. We are living under constant shelling, surrounded by fear, with no safe place to go. My children are hungry, my family is exhausted, and we are simply trying to stay alive.

I am begging you with all the strength I have left—please do not turn away from our pain. Your donation could help provide Mira with the medicines and treatment she urgently needs and help my family buy food to survive. If you cannot donate, please share our story with others. Your kindness could save my daughter's life and give my children hope during this unimaginable hardship. Please don't let Mira be forgotten.

Hello everyone!

Hilda Nasr's campaign is vetted at #451 on our fundraiser list, and vetted at #14 on gazavetters' fundraiser list. We are not associated with gazavetters, so rest assured her campaign has been independently verified two different times by different verifiers through two different verification processes!

I would like to highlight their fundraiser because of the dire situation they are in. They are a family of 11 people, with many children at risk of diseases and illnesses due to the unsanitary conditions in Ghazzah and lack of access to clean water. This is especially a danger for Hilda and Mohammed's newborn baby. Their elderly parents have already been hospitalized due to the conditions in Ghazzah.

Please consider helping Hilda Nasr and Mohammed Ayyad.

A couple of years ago we were all terribly concerned about the fact that a lot of American high schools are assigning such crushing homework loads that some kids literally don't have enough time to eat or sleep (and all this in spite of the fact that there's no good evidence that assigning homework actually improves academic outcomes at the pre-university level), but now we're hearing stories about those same schools struggling to stop kids from using ChatGPT to write their essays and suddenly It's The Children Who Are Wrong. Like, do you think maybe there's a certain level of cause and effect in play here?

i keep trying to explain to people that teenagers are making mostly rational decisions based on the information they have, and no one seems to believe me

you probably won't be surprised at the pushback I've gotten from teachers at the college level (who by and large don't have to worry about NCLB guidelines and tests) at suggesting that if critical thinking is the problem being lost, maybe we should change our testing and assessment styles to directly measure critical thinking on the fly rather than throwing up our hands and blaming TECHNOLOGY

the trick is that these assessment styles often require more work to think about and construct assessments for and that is work that college instructors are typically compensated very poorly if at all for, so like, I get it. but that's how you fix this shit. and I think if you are invested in the project of education for its own sake, you have to consider the ways in which incentivizing your students not to rely on chatgpt involves changing the structure of your shared activities together such that failing to learn and digest material is routinely boring or unpleasant and that knowing it is the only way to feel that one is succeeding in class in small, low-stakes, frequent interactions rather than single high-stakes ones.

i have a suggestion

Sometimes I look at what our lives have become, and I cannot comprehend everything we have lost. The home that once brought our family together is gone, our shop that provided us with an income is gone as well, and displacement has taken away our last sense of safety. Today, I watch my father suffer before my eyes while I am unable to afford his treatment, and I have been forced to rely on donations to support my family and keep going

My father suffers from a herniated disc and severe back pain, and he needs surgery that costs around €1,500. It hurts to watch him suffer every day knowing that treatment is available, but we simply cannot afford it. Since June 22, we have raised only €251 out of €1,500, leaving €1,249 still needed. More than a month has passed while I have been asking for help for my father, watching him endure his pain day after day as the amount we raise increases very slowly. It is painful to have to repeat his suffering again and again while so many people see these appeals and nothing changes

Give me less "being kind requires zero effort" and more "being kind is worth the effort it takes."

being kind often does take effort. but not being a dick doesn’t take any effort at all.

Actually for some people it does and part of my point was that those people deserve to have their efforts acknowledged and respected when they put in the work needed to treat others right even though it doesn't come easily or naturally to them

The whole metaverse can no longer be properly viewed without an account and I am definitely not making one just to see your contact info or opening hours.

Get a fucking WEBSITE. It can be just a static landing page with the relevant information. But get off the metaverse!

you got people arguing that trans people "have" to join the military or else they'll die and then i gotta hear about trans soldiers who are proud to serve and potentially "die for (their) country" ok which is it?

I will always advocate for resources that help people get out, and vet support that lets people live their lives after being in the military but you will not ever fuckin catch me fighting on behalf of the Trans Soldier i do not give a fuck

"they are preventing us from serving" good, your ass should have been throwing every exemption at them from the start.

I've got at least a decent amount of respect for anti-war vets, left-turn ex-military folks--any org, group, or person who does not support the military, but I've got a hell of a lot to say about anyone--trans folk included--who think they can fix the military from the inside, who think they can repair the image of trans people by being a jackboot thug for the state, or who think this is the only way they can be who they want to be, but I'll start here: fuck you

"well Chelsea Manning was a trans soldier" mhm and do we know her name because she was promoting how much of a girlboss trans people can be in the military or do we know about her because she very famously betrayed the system and the military and paid very heavily for it? And now her main gigs are DJing, speaking about her experience, talking about american gov corruption, and being part of protest actions--most recently getting arrested for a pro-Palestine demo.

She was a jackboot thug until she wasn't. I can forgive you for being one (having the luxury of not being one of your victims) when you use that opportunity to bring down the machine. If all you wanna do is insist you belong as a machine operator I've got nothing more to say to you.

Check back in with me when you leak state secrets or kill your commander or produce an expose. Until then, fuck you!

Israel is funding a $46.5 million campaign, led by former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, to influence how AI chatbots discuss Israel by publishing hundreds of pro-Israel articles across a network of websites designed largely for AI systems, not human readers, according to Drop Site News.

The campaign explicitly targets “GPT conversations,” with AI tools already citing these sites, including Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini, and sometimes ChatGPT and Claude, in responses about Gaza and U.S.-Israel relations.

'Don’t Just Do Nothing: 20 Things You Can Do to Counter Fascism' is a zine by Jewish anarchists on how people can organise and act in this changing terrain. Download it (it's free), read, print and distribute it IRL!

think it's a deep consolation to know that spiders dream, that monkeys tease predators, that dolphins have accents, that lions can be scared silly by a lone mongoose, that otters hold hands, and ants bury their dead. that there isn't their life and our life. nor your life and my life. that it's just one teetering and endless thread and all of us, all of us, are entangled w it as deep as entanglement goes. v neat i think.

Can everyone who makes video content do a Deaf bitch a favor? Watch your shit with the captions on and the sound off, and then do another round of editing to fix things including but not limited to:

  • Captions cover the spot on the screen you put the information I need
  • The dialogue is captioned but not the song you have playing that the dialogue is responding to
  • You only captioned the person on the screen, not the person off screen who is also talking
  • No captioning of critical sound effects (alarms, bells, dogs barking, etc)
  • Speakers are not labelled at moments where it is not clear on the screen who is talking.
  • Captions cover the spot on the screen that you put the information I need!

Other d/Deaf people welcome to add.

This post brought to you by the fifth video tutorial I could not follow because the bad, auto-generated captions covered what I was trying to watch today.
