The Name: It's really pronounced just how it looks: Hah-KEHR. Emphasis on the second syllable. It's Ancient Egyptian, meaning something along the lines of a traveller who crosses between boundaries. I've been using it for years in various places. It fits me - or at least my mental concept of myself. Though I usually present as female, I'm not above a little gender confusion now and then. :)

I've been a lot of weird things - beekeeper, night watchman on a Victorian-era island in the Atlantic, firefighter, tall-ship sailor, historian, librarian, and museum interpreter. In the Society, I'm Elinor Strangewayes. I study 16th and early 17th century England and its relations with the New World. My "SCAdian resume" can be found here.

One more note: I tend to bitch a lot about physical and mental health issues. For one thing, they're usually pressing issues in my life and frequently affect my personality and activity level. Furthermore, I have an awful memory and this lets me keep track of how things are changing on a long-term basis. If you don't want to hear about that sort of thing, I cordially invite you to use the little back arrow on your browser.
