Harry Potter Alliance Relay For Life
Hey guys! Sorry for the crossposting but I want to get the word out on this ASAP.
Some of you may know that I'm a member of the ~Harry Potter Alliance~ (for more info see here) at FIU. Basically we put together events for a variety of causes--most involve fund-or-awareness-raising for things like bullying in schools, worldwide starvation, illiteracy, LGBTQ rights, etc. but we also put on fun things for us too, because we even though we're social activists around campus, we are still a big group of nerds. For example, this April we're having our very own Yule Ball in the campus ballrooms. So that's exciting!
Anyway, the reason why this post is here is because of an event happening very soon: it's called Relay For Life, a big event put together by the American Cancer Society on March 4-5. It's happening at FIU with a bunch of different groups. The groups get together and camp overnight around the site, do relays around the track like a big parade, and put on different shows; this year, the theme is childhood games, so of course the HPA's contribution is Wizard's Chess. :Db
Individual members are encouraged to start fundraising as soon as possible, and as a member for FIU's HPA, I have my own little page for people to donate in my name. The minimum cash amount is $10 for a donation, which I think is kind of high, but there you have it. All the money goes to the American Cancer Society to help find cures, so I think it's worth it.
Having lost two family members to cancer myself, this kind of event and fundraising hits close to home, and is something I really want to work for. If you'd like to make a donation, and I really encourage you to, you can go to the following link.

Women and Video Games
Hey guys! For my final project in class, I'm doing a presentation on women in the gaming community. If you have any research/articles/studies/interviews/dis cussions about women and video games, women as gamers, how women are portrayed in video games, etc. I would love to read them.
HOLY BALLS THAT TOOK LIKE AN HOUR
You may have noticed that I have added the CFUD character journals to my friends list since 2005. Due to the fact that I already add them to Raphael's friends list (and have done so for over 2 years now), having them on this journal as well seems more than a tad redundant. So! I have removed all the CFUD character journals from this journal's friends list; if you wish to be added back, feel free to point me in the direction of your OOC journal or I can re-add whichever character journal you prefer.

HOSHIT ANOTHER PUBLIC POST?!
But, well. I want as many people to see this as possible. I was going to email it to the Sun Sentinel but their website terrifies me.
Send it around.
