Open drabble request post

Welcome to the monthly open "request a drabble/one-liner" post for May! (I skipped April's. Waugh.)

Leave me a comment with the manga/book/tv show/whathaveyou of your choice, the character(s), and a thematic OR three words to work from, and I'll see what I can do. Note that I make no promises that any pairings you request will turn out the way you expect and comedy may happen at any given time.

Once a request is filled, feel free to ask for another if you'd like.

I'll take requests for any fandom so long as I'm familiar enough with it to feel comfortable writing in it but my main focus of late has been: Transformers (Seekers Series, Chance Chronicles, The Ghost Unit & more ), Bleach (Raising Yachiru series), Star Trek (2009, but any of them too - old school fan here!), Naruto, One Piece and the Miles Vorkosigan (Young Ivan series) universe. I'll be happy to take requests related to any of the series I've been working on lately. I can also probably take a stab at any of the following: X-Files, Pluto, Babylon 5, Firefly, Farscape, Harry Potter, Leverage, Dollhouse, PotC, Harry Dresden Files, Bones, Avatar - The Last Airbender, X-Men, LotR, and probably some more I can't think of offhand.

Note, repeated!
As a special request, if any of you are readers of my OC-centric Transformers series Ghost Unit, I'd love for some GU prompts. As in, ask as many as you wish to ask for! I'm thinking over what to write next for the series in addition to the backlog I already have and even if the prompts generate only one-shots, filler content between story arcs is still win. Any GU prompt result may get featured in the series' related posts rather than here, with credit to the prompter for the inspiration of course.

<3

FYI :: I still owe two to three drabbles from the last challenge. I haven't forgotten, though one is slated to be featured as part of the GU series hence why it hasn't been posted yet. =)

... Oh my God The Vorkosigan Series?! I always assume I'm the only person on the internet that's read them! ♥

In that vein... hm. Something with Ivan and Byerly Vorrutyer snarking at each other? No pairing, just. You know. Snark. Does that work as a theme?

Note - I'm still pondering this one. I haven't read Byerly in ages and that's tripping me up, but, not forgotten! <3

Haha, no worries, babe! ♥ By is... special, to be sure.

Oh, I'm game!

Star Trek - TOS
Uhura/McCoy (or Uhura-McCoy)
re-educate, nomad, trust

I just rewatched Changeling. :)

Learning Ratios

"That's impossible! My god, what is he thinking?"

To say that McCoy's reaction to Spock's decision that Uhura could be re-educated from the data contained in the Enterprise's library banks is volcanic would be an understatement. He paces his sickbay, anger and powerlessness making him sick to his stomach, swearing and muttering to himself. It is only when a greatly puzzled and sweetly concerned Uhura attempts to pat his arm that he calms down, gazing back at the child-like worry directed at him with sorrow and regret.

"We can try," offers Nurse Chapel, hands alighting gently on the other woman's shoulders. "We can try, right?"

And so they try.

~*~

The rate she learns at is phenomenal, McCoy realizes the next day. As soon as they've gotten Standard through to her, she starts devouring her way through each and every manual and essay they present her with dedicated passion and glee. With each passing moment, with each passing hour, they being to look for more information to throw at her, more tests for her to pass and succeed at again.

McCoy delves into medical journals and research about memory loss.

It is not too long before his research rate begins to match Uhura's learning speed.

Nurse Chapel's smiles are brighter than any star's from thereon. McCoy and Uhura begin competing, to see who may earn the most of them.

~*~

"Lieutnenant Uhura is an exceptional individual. I had no doubt she would be able to effect a full recovery in record time."

Spock's words are spoken with utter certainty.

"You mean, impossible time." McCoy waves stacks of datapads at him, not swearing. It's the closest to an apology he'll get and he can tell Spock is pleased by this, though he'd never admit to it.

"Doctor. Between Uhura's own natural intellectual proficiency and your medical skills, there was no other outcome possible."

Bones stares and Jim laughs. Uhura sweetly murmurs something in an obscure, ancient Vulcan dialect from the doorway and Spock's eartips turn a delicate shade if green.

Re: Learning Ratios

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS.

THANK YOU.

:D

!!!!

I am full of joy and delight over it. Bones apologized. Your Christine is beautiful. Thank you. :D

Re: Learning Ratios

This is much win, yes. Thank you so much!

Hrm...how about Chekov/McCoy -- drunk and overconfident?
