Lawrence University Makerspace: Home

Located on the first floor of the Mudd Library, the Makerspace is available for all members of the LU community to enrich the creativity of their academic work.

Want to use the makerspace?

In order to gain access to the makerspace:

  1. Watch the Makerspace Tour and Safety video on the Makerspace Training tab AND watch additional training videos for the equipment you'd like to learn.
  2. Attend an open training session or email makerspace@lawrence.edu to set up a time during breaks or if the scheduled times will not work for you.

After completing a training session, don't forget to reserve equipment before you use it. Reservations forms and availability calendars are available on the Reserving Makerspace Equipment tab.

Need to Have Something Made for You?

Submit the Makerspace Print/Cut/Make Request Form if you're a Lawrence University student, faculty, or staff who:

  • has received an assignment to have something 3D printed (unless you're required to do the printing)
  • would like to have something 3D printed, laser cut, or some vinyl decals for your independent academic work or research
  • has found a 3D printable model that will assist with accessibility

Someone from the makerspace will be in touch with you with an estimated time frame for printing/making.

Policies and Procedures

The makerspace is only available for use by Lawrence University students, faculty, and staff. Students are welcome to make fun stuff in the makerspace, but academic use of the machines gets priority.
