If a labradoodle is taking over your household....

You got fucking problems.

Not to mention the obvious projection of to/from this author's relationship with HUMAN men. Jesus.

A early neutered male is as loving, cuddly and kind as any outgoing "go with the flow" female. If the male is not neutered early and its testicles drop, it typically becomes a dog that will roam and have more of a mind of its own. This instinct tends to over power the family member calling the dog to come, it will come but hesitates or plays that come and get me game. We recommend strongly that males be neutered by a laser surgeon early, as early as 8 to 16 weeks. If your vet is not a laser surgeon. Neutering removes the possibility of the male ever entering its time of confrontation, asserting its manliness and results it a great, loving, listening dog. The neutered male dog also seems to have less separation anxiety than a female and be more open to new experiences. An early neutered, trained male is a fantastic labradoodle, 100% wonderful open and ready for anything!

I'm evil. Discuss.

1. I will not neuter my dog. He's not broke, so no need to fix. Ooo...a pun. Not that I plan on breeding, but really, think about it. "Responsible" dog owners are not the ones who need to neuter their pets anyway. Cuz they're, ya know, responsible. :oO

2. I minimally vaccinated my current dog. In the future, however, I will not vaccinate at all. :oO

3. I feed my dog bones. Raw bones, and raw meat. I.e. whole rabbits, [fresh] road kill deer, chicken wings, pork necks, beef liver...whatever's cheap and bony. Fruits and vegetables too. And plenty of table scraps. :oO All those items will kill him and/or make him fat and intrusive towards my food.

4. He spends considerable time in a crate until he earns the privilege of free roam and doesn't act like an ass. When he acts like an ass, he goes in the crate. Crate=cage. Cage=mean. :oO

5. He does not visit dog parks. How unsocial! :oO

6. We use a prong collar and electric collar, respectively. Those collars aren't always comfortable like harnesses and haltis. Uncomfortable sometimes = mean :oO

7. He practices the mechanics of biting people. Hurting people = mean. :oO

8. I allow him to jump on me. Jumping = rude. :oO

On the other hand:

1. Each day, every day, without exception, we walk for an hour first thing in the morning.

2. After the walk we practice something for another hour or so. Usually tracking. Additionally some bitework (tug-o-war with a purpose), and always some obedience thrown in there.

3. After that, if it's warmer than freezing, he'll swim for a while.

4. After that, we'll play ball til he dries out.

5. After that, we groom and do his nails with a Dremel (best thing ever).

6. After that, he chows down (usually parceld in small amounts to refine his obedience).

7. After that, he chews on something fun for a while.

8. After he gets some lovin'.

9. After that, nap time.

10. After that, another hour walk at night.

11. He sits before exiting or entering any door. He downs (at least) for food. He downs before exiting his crate. He'll walk politely several minutes before he gets to relieve himself. He doesn't sleep on the bed, or couch, and doesn't even have access unless instructed. I eat before he does. He walks next to me on my left unless otherwise instructed.

12. We socialize only with cherry picked doggy friends.

13. For the first year at least, he goes everywhere with me. Usually hectic, noisy, crowded places til he takes it in stride.

And that is what makes for a high energy GSD who appears to be a civilized pet at times.

Doesn't really look like an "alsatian" though.

When three masked men burst into an elderly man's Sydney unit last night they hadn't bargained on Rocky the German shepherd.

Two-year-old Rocky - described as a normally placid, family dog -attacked the intruders.

"The dog's a hero really," said Michael, a 56-year-old relative of the man whose home was broken into.

"He's normally the most gentle dog. He's not a guard dog. He'd lick you and love you to death.

"We were surprised he actually wanted to attack but the dog did attack and saved the owner's life."

But Rocky paid a high price for his heroics. Michael, who did not want to give his last name, said the dog was shot twice in the chest during the violent home invasion in Court Avenue, Kingsford at 10.30pm.

"The dog at the moment is under sedation," he said. "They are not going to operate until Wednesday."

Rocky was taken to the North Shore Veterinary Hospital, where a spokeswoman said he was "critical but stable".

"There's two bullets still lodged in his body - in his upper foreleg and shoulder blade," she said.

Well-wishers had been calling the clinic today to offer financial support for Rocky's operation, she said.

Michael said he was "shocked" the loving family dog had attacked, putting its bravery down to protective instincts for his owner.

"It was a very brave act because he's not a guard dog - he's a pet dog,'' he said.

"It's a loving dog - he's part of our family, Alsatians look vicious but they're not, they're just big sooks.

"It licks you, jumps on you, wants to play with you, but to attack an intruder like that - we're shocked."

Rocky's elderly owner was too shaken to talk about the experience, he added.

The three men, wearing balaclavas, broke into the man's unit over the clubhouse at the Kingsford tennis courts.

Police said the men stole cash and property.

Nearby resident Yianni Zinonos said break-ins were becoming more common in the area.

"I've been living here 10 years, and have actually been robbed twice this year, in the last six months," he said.

"I was in the house both times - crime in the area's really on the rise, there's been an enormous amount of break-and-enters."

Intro Post

Hey y'all...

Just wanted to do a quick intro post. I'm not competing in SchH at the moment, as my GSD is with the breeder till my fiancee and I get a house. However, I'm very much interested in the sport, and would like to continue when I get my pup back. :) My fiancee also has a Shep, and his dog is a lot harder and higher-drive than mine. :) If anyone wants to see pics, I'd be glad to oblige. :) In addition, I'd also like to invite you to join schutzhund_dogs, as we're always looking for new members!
