I just found the best quote on somebody's Facebook page:
Nice guys are like apples on trees.
They are at the top of the tree. Most women don't want to reach for them because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good...
So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right woman to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.
And... women?
women are like a fine wine. They start out as grapes, and it's up to men to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
I went to DC on Friday all by myself and using only public transit. I went to visit a place called the National Building Musem, it focuses on things like urban planning and architecture. An itinerary and pictures can be found under the cut. ( Collapse )
DO you ever download a song you really like then find yourself playing the song over and over until you don't like it anymore. Well I do right now the song is "Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers.
Facebook has this new feature where you can write on how you know the people on your friends list. I just filled that out for all my facebook friends at Earlham. It took kind of a long time or at least it felt like it.
I went to Washington, DC Friday. I took 5 different forms of transit and did not once get in a car. I'll have pictures and a discussion of what I did soon.
Someone I know is running with several others on a ticket for student government office. She's going to make 1000 copies of her ticket's platform and distribute it. Apparently student government pays for all of this. So here's what I'm going to do. Establish my own PAC and convince those running for office to forgo the system of student government financing in favor of increased funding from my PAC. PAC contributions will be given with the expectation that I will get payback in the form in the form of special favors for ME.
GRRR!!! NPR reporter and Earlham alumna Andrea Seabroook will be doing a News Radio Workshop this Thursday. But I can't go to it since I've got to attend this Model U.N. conference in Ashtabula, Ohio for a class. Not only did I really want to meet an NPR reporter but I've actually been doing some News Radio myself and I'd love to get some pointers.
I picked up a New York Times today at the Bookstore. It's so nice to actually read a real newspaper for a change and not have to rely on the Indianapolis Star which is pretty much a local version of USA TODAY. It's actually owned by the same company. But then again the Indianapolis Star is distributed for free around campus.
Tonight was the fifth day of the Jewish holiday Sukkot and there was a student rabbi at the weekly Shabbat Dinner. Then we went out to a sukkah and shook a lulav and etrog. You can find out all about Sukkot by clicking the link. Now I'm sitting in my room alone.
There are some really interesting (and somewhat creepy) communities on Livejournal that deal with Jewish people. Like there is this one community for people who have a fetish over Jewish men its really kind of creepy yet at the same time quite flattering and intriguing. So why aren't any of these girls at Earlham?(Just Kidding)
Then I found a few rating communities for Jewish girls including this one called Jew in you. It kind of disturbs me.
When I went to boarding school in Massachussetts there was this public radion station I listened too called WBUR. I really miss it I don't quite know why. Maybe it's because I don't listen to NPR in the morning anymore since my roommate is sleeping when I get up for my 8O'CLOCK CLASS!!(as you can see I really don't like morning classes.) But I feel there's something else I'm missing some sort of personality that WBUR has the WVXU and WMUB fail to provide. Oh I really miss WERS too that station had the best most original programs. Gyroscope, All acapella, and Chagigah had to be the best shows on the radio. And I can't listen to the webstream because Earlham's internet is so fucking slow I can't listen to a webstream without a shitload of buffering.
I haven't written here in a while. College is going pretty well. Right now I'm on Mid-Semester break which is four days in the middle of the semester that we get off. But I'm staying at school. I guess I don't have much else to say. Sorry this entry is so boring.
So I signed up for Facebook a while ago but haven't really bothered to update it or anything like for a while. Well I got a message on my wall telling me to update it. So I did, and I've been exploring it too. Pretty cool stuff. I also got a free ipod mini with my ibook. I must say I enjoy it. But its wierd though whenever I'm walking around campus and listening to it. I feel like I'm in my own little world separate from everybody else. I saw this french film 8 Femmes the other day. It's a good movie but man it it MESSED UP.
