I guess getting into Western, Queens, McMaster, Alberta, (and Dartmouth) makes today a good day! Wait list Calgary... yah whatever to you.

I am happy. But also finding myself with a very tough decision.

To whom it may concern,

Although your source Anthony Butch may be the director of the Olympic Analytical laboratory at the University of California Los Angeles, he seems to be unclear on the actual biological pathway of sildenafil, also known as Viagra. It does not, as he quoted, cause a person to “have more nitric oxide”, but instead prolongs the effects caused by nitric oxide. Most undergraduate university students in the life sciences could explain this to you, I being one of them.

The real biological player at work is a molecule called cyclic GMP, or cGMP for short. Cyclic GMP causes the relaxation of smooth muscle around blood vessels, causing increased blood flow. Nitric oxide DOES cause cGMP to be made, but this has nothing to do with Viagra. These little blue pills help keep the blood vessels relaxed in a different way. Cyclic GMP is broken down in the cell by an enzyme called phosphodiesterase (PDE). Viagra’s job is to block PDE, so lots of cGMP sticks around and allows you to enjoy 4 hours of effective erection. Perhaps Butch was thinking of the heart medication, nitroglycerine, which does work though increasing nitric oxide, and also causes erection.

Whether or not one performs better in athletics with a pharmaceutical-induced erection is regrettably not my area of study.

I'm going to actually go to the gym today and do the class I've had circled on my calender since the beginning of the term.

I finished my assignment early, so hopefully I won't have to worry about it later. I also got into the MCAT course I wanted, for the price I wanted.

AND after weeks of indecision, we FINALLY booked a reception hall for the wedding and I'm really excited about it.
